Veil is ruled and administrated by the Knighthood of the Heralding Dawn, a former religious order that had established a presence early on in the colonization of Veil. The Knighthood upholds a strict moral code that values stability, order, and the heavy regulation of magick. Though they have secularized, the order still clings to some of their older traditions as a means of connecting with the past.
Their heavy handed nature and policing presence has earned the Knighthood much resentment from the local population and especially the merchant guilds.
