He smiled. "Your ability to absorb magic is exactly why I sought you out first. All I ask is you do what you're capable of, because it's more than enough."
He needed the kid's ability to interact- if only briefly- with raw magic. If he could possess even a slight understanding of magic in its raw form, he believed he'd be able to study its more honed components in other subjects far easier. He needed that baseline to be perfect.
He stood up. "I have to get approval from the doctors, but I think I can start tomorrow. Does that work for you?"

Carxanius stared at him once again. This doctor seemed odd but friendly enough and well meaning. If he could understand his abilities then it could come in handy but how badly did he want to? He couldn't quite figure that out himself. The pain in his chest subsided but he kept his arms crossed. "I suppose so. Not like I have much choice in the matter to begin with." He said, his voice quieter now but still audible.
"Great!" Doctor Solari beamed, ignorant to Carxanius' turbulent thoughts. He stepped over the chair he'd been sitting on and started to open the door. "I'll send you the room number by morning. Until then, ah..." he glanced around the nice but quite bland room "... watch cartoons?" he shrugged. "Whatever kids do these days," he said, even though he wasn't much older than Carxanius.
He stepped into the hall and let the door swing shut behind him.

Carxanius turned his music back up and returned to reading, hoping that the visitations would be over for the day. He was mentally exhausted and hoped to avoid any other possible annoyances. Eventually he ended up falling asleep on the bed, tired and somewhat relaxed in what will be his new home.
The next day, after Doctor Solari had finished setting up his equipment around six forty five in the morning, he decided to wake Carxanius up to get him into the experimentation room.
He yawned as he walked through the halls, his long legs taking him to the kid’s room quickly enough despite his sluggish pace. He was a morning person, but perhaps waking up around four was a bit too early, even for him. He hadn’t even bothered to put his contacts in, which made drinking his instant coffee a little annoying as the steam fogged up his thick glasses.
Regardless of his body’s exhaustion, his mind was buzzing. Today, he’d take his first steps to break the enigmatic code of magic. Today would make history- well, if he was allowed to share his findings. The institute may make that a little difficult, considering their secrecy.
He arrived at Carxanius’ room and knocked loudly, eager to begin the day’s work.

The night was mostly uneventful for him, only waking up a couple times for some reason or another. The knock at the door was jolting and he sat up suddenly, feeling a bit dizzy as he did so. In his stupor, he initially thought he was in a hotel of some sort but quickly remembered the events from the previous day and scowled. A brief moment of chest pain and he stood up and walked to the door, opening it to see Doctor Solari from yesterday there. "Time for the experiment right?" He asked before Drake could say anything. His chest was hit with another bout of pain although he didn't show it. He supposed that this experiment was at an opportune time given how drained he was feeling.
“Yep,” Doctor Solari said with a nod. “I’d offer you some of this,” he said as he held up his foam cup of coffee, “but you have a heart condition of sorts, so I figured that’d be a bad idea.” He shrugged and took a sip, which fogged up his glasses again.
He paused and glanced up and down at the kid, realizing he was similar to Doctor Amerson- they both seemed like they preferred to trim the fat from conversation. He cut to the chase. “You ready to go?”

Carxanius stared at the cup of coffee. He wasn't really the kind of person to drink coffee or energy drinks in general. He preferred to work off his own energy rather than some external form, as ironic as that was. "Yes I am. Let's get going please." He was a bit tired but picking up his pace, following Solari pretty easily for the most part. "How long is this going to take?" Carxanius was curious because if this took a while, the large amount of magic he would be taking in could be dangerous.
“We’ll probably go until around noon, but if you’re feeling up to it we can keep going after lunch,” Doctor Solari said with another sip of coffee. “Oh- and Doctor Amerson will be observing you as well. She’s probably interested in your heart.” He drank the last dregs of his coffee- more like a sludge of unmixed powder- and grimaced. “I should’ve brought my espresso machine up when I moved. This stuff is- We’re here!” He said, interrupting his own rant as he spotted room 101.
With a swift motion, he unlocked the door with his keycard and pulled it open. “After you,” he said with a nod to Carxanius.
