    Greenhaven

    Location: Central
    Temperature: Mild
    Weather: Mild
    Terrain: Gentle

The heart of the Wilds. Greenhaven is at the very center of the island, and is where the largest settlement exists: a huge sprawling city built in the branches of Elderbough, a massive tree whose roots reach across the entire island, and sometimes into the fabric of reality itself. Farther out from the bustle of Elderbough City rest smaller villages and well-traveled roads, as well as plenty of places for Travelers to rest. The citizens of Greenhaven are kind and sociable, and present the largest diversity of animals in all the Wilds.

Not far from the city lies Skyview Glade, one of the few places in the Wilds where the sky is unobscured by the canopy. This has allowed many varieties of flower and herb to flourish, and in springtime, the glade is a riot of colors and aromas. All the important festivals are held in the glade, and the Islanders love camping there to stargaze on warm summer nights.

    Azure Lake

    Location: West
    Temperature: Mild
    Weather: Mild
    Terrain: Gentle

This vast expanse of water borders the Teal Pines on one end and the Golden Grove on the other. Many fishing villages, mostly populated by beavers, otters, and other aquatic mammals, have settled around the lake. To the north lies a beaver-run boating service that'll take people up the Cyan River to the Lumber Yard in the Teal Pines. Along the Golden Grove shore, one can find a prosperous fishing village famous for its fish cakes and tall tales.

The Azure Lake is the largest body of water in the Wilds, and can get so deep that few have ever seen its bottom. There are many legends about what lurks in its depths, including stories of fish so massive that they could feed a village for a year. But perhaps the most compelling legend is that, at the deepest place in the lake, a sea dragon slumbers.

    Golden Grove

    Location: Southwest
    Temperature: Mild
    Weather: Mild
    Terrain: Gentle

A copse of birch trees, where the leaves are always autumn hues even in spring. The soil here is the most fertile of anywhere in the Wilds. Nearer to the west, overlooking the Azure Lake, one can find badgers and hedgehogs working in the Redleaf Orchard, where many fruits and berry bushes are grown. This produce is either used in baking or fermented into strong drinks.

Farther into the Grove lies an apothecary set into the roots of a huge tree with sun-yellow leaves. The Sundew Apothecary is owned by a kindly old fox, wise in herblore. Creatures from all corners of the Wilds seek her out, and many believe her tonics are magic.

    Moonglow Swamp

    Location: Southeast
    Temperature: Humid
    Weather: Mild
    Terrain: Rough

This marshland rests between the sunny Golden Grove, and the ominous Deepwood. At first glance, it might look - and smell - quite inhospitable, but a number of amphibians and reptiles call it home, and the chorus of insects at night is said to be one of the most beautiful performances in the Wilds. However, it's also one of the most mysterious places, with strange magical phenomena being a common occurrence. Stories of unwary Travelers being led astray by Will-O-the-Wisps, or swallowed by the bog, are not uncommon here, as well as tales of stranger things.

Wooden docks and piers make up the walkways in the more populated areas, and its position near the Stormwind Bay means the White Lily Inn always has business. Outside of Elderbough City, this is the best place for gossip, and perky-eared creatures might catch wind of some new treasure hunt or strange discovery across the Wilds if they hang about long enough. The kindly albino axolotl who runs the establishment is always willing to bend a frill to others' woes, or simply offer directions.

    Teal Pines

    Location: Northeast
    Temperature: Cold
    Weather: Moderate
    Terrain: Rough

Tall coniferous trees grow from podzol-laden earth. This is one of the harsher parts of the Wilds, where few creatures settle. The Pines reach far up along Mt. Nimbus, and even in summer, temperatures can plummet at night. The acidic soil is hostile to most vegetation, and the Cyan River that runs from Mt. Nimbus down to the Azure Lake frequently ices over. The only creatures who live here are those with thick pelts or hardy spirits.

Along the Cyan River stands the Ironclaw Lumber Yard and Masonry, where strong creatures harvest and shape the materials used in construction across the Wilds. The creatures who work here are seldom-spoken, but respect honest work and will gladly help in repairs or aid if those asking for such can pull their own weight. Past the Yard and up the mountain trail lies what remains of a watchtower. None remember why it was built, and now its cold worn stone and rotted wood beams serve only as a haven for small fungi in this harsh land.

    Mt. Nimbus

    Location: North
    Temperature: Frigid
    Weather: Extreme
    Terrain: Hazardous

An ice-capped mountain at the northern edge of the Wilds. Its summit is thought to reach beyond the sky, but few have ever actually seen it. Only the bravest of Travelers attempt to climb Mt. Nimbus, for there are no guiding trails, and the below-freezing temperatures, constant strong winds, and frequent snowstorms make this one of the most dangerous places in the Wilds. Food is scarce here, and the air thins in higher altitudes, so those looking for a survival challenge should come prepared, or risk perishing on the trail.

Among the mountain's snow-laden terrain, there rests the Moonwatch Monastery, where devout monks study the stars and the ancient lore of the Wilds. Some scholars, or those on a spiritual quest, might brave the elements to visit the Monastery, and it is common practice for the spiritually-inclined to purify their bodies and spirits under the frigid Cyan Waterfall located a little farther up.

    The Deepwood

    Location: East
    Temperature: ???
    Weather: ???
    Terrain: Hazardous

Between the Moonglow Swamp and Teal Pines lies a region of the Wilds that is perhaps the most mysterious. None venture into the Deepwood without reason, for the canopy is so thick that it blocks out the sun and moon, and nobody knows what truly lurks in its depths. If ill fate befalls the Wilds, in the form of blight or curse, people are quick to blame the Deepwood. All that is truly known about it is that it houses strange plants and fungi that confuse the senses, and more than one adventuring party has gone in and never come out.

It is unknown whether or not Elderbough's roots extend into the Deepwood, but on the outskirts of the Moonglow Swamp lies an ancient and abandoned manor that looks to be half-swallowed by the thick, dark-leaved trees, which suggests the Deepwood might have been smaller at some point in history. Whether or not its border is still extending is one of the primary studies of the research lab set up along the Teal Pines border.

    Elderbough
The oldest and largest tree on the island. It casts its gentle, green-tinted shadow over the forts, crannies, and suspension bridges built throughout its branches that make up Elderbough City. This tree is thought to predate even the towering Mt. Nimbus, and its roots reach deep into the earth, spreading all across the island. The Islanders have a saying: "Word shall pass through Elderbough's roots." This means that by the end of the day, everyone on the island will know something. Wayshrines are erected wherever one of Elderbough's roots can be seen along a trail, as these spots are considered sacred to the Islanders.

    Cyan River
One of the largest rivers on the island, starting high up on Mt. Nimbus and running down into Azure Lake. The river is an important part of the islanders' lives, as the materials from the Ironclaw Workshop are transported downstream from the Teal Pines, destined for construction sites throughout the Wilds. Creatures also travel up and down the Cyan River in fishing boats or trading vessels, and its steady flowing current makes an excellent power source for busy waterwheels.

    Topaz River

The second of two large rivers that runs between the Azure Lake and the Stormwind Bay. It is much gentler than the Cyan River, and often traveled along by Golden Grove creatures going to the lake or Greenhaven by water with their goods.

    Sundew Apothecary
Nestled among bright yellow birch leaves, on the eastern end of the Golden Grove, lies the Sundew Apothecary, where Ms. Fennel brews the most effective potions in all the Wilds. The kindly old fox is always willing to help, and people seek out her medicine from all over the island. She often enlists the aid of adventurers in gathering those ingredients she herself is no longer able to procure, and she always rewards any creature for their trouble.

    Redleaf Orchard

The farmers of the Redleaf Orchard know the virtue of patience and the wisdom of the earth. Seeds and saplings tended with care will grow into the fruits that feed creatures all over the Wilds, and the Redberries the orchard is famous for go into the making of its most famous export: Redberry Wine.

Though no one in the Redleaf community would claim the title of "leader," most creatures look to Old Rowan of Brackenhill, a well-built badger with wide shoulders and calloused hands from a long life of working the fields. Rowan is the unofficial spokesman for the Farmers' Guild, fair-minded and open-hearted, but very no-nonsense. Everybeast can trust him to speak honestly, even if they might not want to hear what he has to say, and he tries his best to make sure everyone is treated equally. He resents the position others have forced on him as leader, but bears the burden anyway, because work needs doing and someone has to do it.

    White Lily Inn

At the border between the rocky, scrubby path that leads to the Stormwind Bay, and the wooden walkways built above murky bog waters rests the White Lily Inn, a haven for Travelers seeking respite and a hub for all manner of gossip. Its place right along a major trading route has made it famous among merchants seeking news or deals, adventurers looking to tell stories or hear about new expeditions, and sometimes, unsavory creatures looking for information they can exploit for their own gain.
