"Welcome aboard the I.E.G LD-54 Class light freighter, not so affectionately known as the Rust Bucket! Humanity's last hope? A crew of reservists, many of which never anticipated they'd be called upon. So they were given a vessel equally well suited to their monumental task. A long distance light freighter about 30 years out of date, lightly retrofitted into a passable expedition vessel. In a word? Functional...barely, alright maybe two words. On board life support, food and water production, cargo hold filled with additional fuel and supplies. Deep range scanning and transmission array. With a not so comfortable capacity for 15 crew, the ship's been outfitted for one goal alone. Tracking down whatever left of the last few missing expeditions. If the Rust Bucket fails? Deep space exploration is totally grounded until further notice. Oh and it's almost certain none of us are coming back alive. No pressure right!
Life on board the Rust Bucket isn't exactly comfortable, but it's still life. Each crew member can expect their own (albeit cramped) quarters, there's some variety in dietary options and a few opportunities for leisure. When you're not working to keep the ship from falling apart that is!"
