"excuse me?"
I panic. "NOTHING! Hey, I gotta go ummm.....help my friend! Seeya!" I dash down the hall and around the corner out of sight.
I couldn't help but giggle as he sprinted down the hall. My first class of the day dragged by slowly, after I went to the hallway of the blocked off closet.
"Ahhh, I thought you'd be here." I say, walking around the corner.
"I'm surprised you had the nerve to show up." I smile
"Good grief, thanks for the show of faith..." I say playfully.
"whatever," i smile even more, "but now, we need to work. investigate."
I open the closet door to find....bricks. I groan. "They sealed it off. They are Definitely Guilty OF SOMETHING."
"What the heck? There has to be something." I groan in frustration and look around the hallway.
"We can still get in." I smile mischievously. "The vents are large enough..."
I look for the vents then look more at the hallway. I look up at the ceiling, a security camera is in the corner. “There’s a camera. It’s new. There never used to be a camera here, I know where all the cameras in the school are.”
Max pulls her around the corner, out of sight of the camera. "Don't look at it! Don't you see the red light? Someone must actively watch it at all times." He hisses.
“I know that. But I’m sure a bunch of students have been in this hallway. Especially after the rumors spread.”
"That's where you're wrong. They all avoid this place. Think it's haunted."
"Whatever....I don't think Theo is dead. We need to figure this out."
"You don't think- what about the body!?!! You think it just magically appeared, a perfect statu-" I stop, a thoughtful expression coming across my face. "Unless..."
"Fake bodies at crime scenes aren't uncommon. I've heard enough podcasts and watched enough dateline to know." I peek around the corner, "I think hes out there somewhere. I think they could be using him to get to his dad."
"Alright Sherlock, say that they are. What are we gonna do about it? Because if you are right about that, the police are in on it too. They would have been close enough to know it wasn't real."
"No. The police want to question them because they didn't let the police in on it. I know someone in the force near here. I can call him and ask, he won't rat us out or anything I promise. I've always loved crime shows, so I don't think he'll think much of it."
"Good grief. And here I thought you would just be a normal girl..."
