"John? Did you make sure that the students knew where the library was here?"

"Taissa. They're Scholars, now, they should be smart enough to figure that out."

"Don't be grumpy."

John just huffed loudly in the background, his nose in a book.

"Still reading about Loners?"

"I'm trying to fix the boy."

"Why? You left him when he was young."

"Because I was blind."

Before the conversation could continued, Taissa cleared her throat as the door opened. "Hello, Scholars! Take a seat at the table, and we'll allow you to get comfortable. I have your results back from the blood test earlier!" She walked around, huffing and puffing. She was a plump, but happy woman. John was tall, slender, and grumpy. It was amazing he raised six children and they all came out alright.
Trey was the first of the siblings to enter, Mirage still holding tightly to his sleeve, but showing a bit more of a smile. It seemed she felt that her brother forgave her. The found their seats next to each other and Mirage looked happily at the others, as well as Taissa as she walked by.

Trey, on the other hand, was looking straight at the table, not interested in all at the others.
"Ahhhh!" A blonde girl ran in the library. She was beautiful, with almost perfect features. Her hair was full of beautiful blonde curls, and her eyes were a pure blue. She was garbed in a white uniform with a gold and red scarf. She wore boots that were also white.

"Serafina Angelo, Officer of the Holy Guard!" The girl sat down so she was next to the girl, Mirage.

"Excuse me, John, I would've been here earlier but Tycho and Dmitri got drunk and Darius is helping him settle! Darius will be here soon, too." It was now that a golden glow now started to radiate from her. It was now that her wings unfurled. They were white as snow and were full of white feathers. She was the definition of an angel.

John cursed as he heard the news. "Did Adene arrive safely?" He asked after a string of curses came from the male's mouth.

Before Serafina could answer, a boy with soft brown hair to his shoulders appeared. His eyes were covered with a golden visor.

"Darius Mestyciew, of the Recorders!" He reported.

"Did you get Bjerre settled?"

"Yes. He's stopped puking and Adene is with him. Dmitri is there, too. He's not even drunk yet."

Taissa interjected soon after. "Well, him and Kassandra do make a point to try and out drink each other after the Gatherings are over every year. We'll get everyone in the gymnasium and we can watch that spectacle!"

"Trey and Mirage are the only Scholars this year, right?"

"For now. We always get transfers." John almost growled.

The four already-uniformed people led the twins outside to right outside the library. With a wave of Serafina's hand, a fire of white light was lit.

"Serafina will read Mirage's and Darius will read Trey's." John said, taking out a total of six files. "I will read the rest."

"John Wever. Nurturer. Taissa Sirko, Nurturer and Master Healer. Serafina Angelo, Holy Guardian. Darius Mestyciew, Recorder. You all know your levels and degrees, no need to read it again." John said with a growl before handing the golden file to Serafina and the black file to Darius.

Serafina spoke first. "Mirage. As your DNA comes back, we've noticed that you have Holt Guard powers. Will you accept this, and change your last name to the Danish form of Guardian, værge? Your sync level is 50 and your sync degree is 99. This is perfect for those in Holy Guard."

Darius then smiled. "Trey, you're invited to the Recorders due to the fact that your sync level is 50 and degree is 11. This is practically perfect for a Recorder."

John spoke up after.

"Do you two accept?" He asked, looking at the twins.
Mirage wasn't sure what to think. A Guardian? Surely that was good news! She had heard a bit about them, but she had never imagined she might be considered one of them. When her brother's was read off, she frowned, realizing that they wouldn't be together as often anymore. Of course that were true, she didn't know why she had thought otherwise... Trey was completely different than her in all aspects.

"Ah... well..." she stuttered.

"Yes," was Trey's response, not hesitating a moment. This caught Mirage off guard. He glanced at her a moment, giving her a slight nod.

"Y-Yes, I accept..." she said. "But! P-Please be away my brother and I cannot physically be too far apart. At what we guess is 10 km. Otherwise, our powers are impaired." This had been true all their life. Not only were their powers impaired, but a deathly feeling would come over them. They had never known the cause of it.
"Recorders and the Holy Guard follow each other. In fact, they often come in sets of twins. They are often opposites, with one having a high degree and the other a low." John assured the two. "We will not let you leave each other."

Darius spoke up. "Both Serafina and myself are twins. They're both dead, our twins. They never made it to the Nurturing Center. King Cryroch despises doubles and triples of things." He smiled wryly.

"And the gods gave him triplets. I managed to get them away before anything could happen to them. I changed their last name to Sirko, making it look like they were my own."

John cleared his throat. "As a Holy Guardian and a Recorder, you will both come to know things that others do not know about themselves. We know things that are not to be discussed outside of this room. For instance, that little story will stay here. We do not need Peter Cryroch learning that he has four sons and not one. He already despises Dmitri."

John would continue his statement after a chug of water. "Do not even tell the Royal Guardians. The High Guardian herself has some secrets she does not know of." He said with a stern look and narrowed eyes.
Mirage looked relieved when she was told that she would be able to stay near her brother. And that made her listen in a bit more with what she was being told. She had heard before about twins and such, being ridden because they were disliked. So it was true that they were lucky.

They both listened to the instructor, and nodded their head in unison when they were told they couldn't tell anyone the secrets they would learn in their roles.

"I understand!" Mirage said, determined. Trey felt the nod of his head was enough, and didn't say anything.
"Off to the After Gathering, then! Training will start tomorrow!" She said, making John groan.

"Let them rest. The After Gathering will let them mingle."

John huffed and just kept reading his book as Taissa escorted the twins to the After Gathering.
