Rules and Staff

  • Rules

    1. No godmoding/powergaming will be permitted during roleplay.
Simply put, don't do it. Don't know what godmoding or powergaming is? Godmoding and powergaming can be defined as: when a character has the express ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries, cannot be hit and dodges every negative impact (physical or consequential), or when a writer takes control of another player's character in their post- and all of this, without consent.

    2. Public content should remain family-friendly.
Mind your language (no excessive swearing, please) and the content of your conversation when in a public area, no matter if you're in-character or out-of-character. We know that not everyone who walks into the dream is a minor, but frankly, some of us just don't want to talk about 'mature' or 'adult' things (and it makes quite a few of us uncomfortable). So keep the naughty nippits to private areas, please- or, in whisper.

    3. Please mind the Medieval European setting.
Immersion is a huge deal to us. Please, don't bring in characters that obviously wouldn't fit in with a classical middle-ages Europe feel. Such things include sparkledogs, anime-esque figures, and anything that would generally disrupt the feel of the setting. In addition to being ideal, you must also take into effect the lore. For example, in Rayneth's setting, the orient is a place very few have heard of, let alone seen- so oriental characters will not be allowed. Lastly, you must read the setting and religion page before roleplaying here.

    4. Original Characters only, please.
We do not allow copyrighted characters from movies, books or games, or characters whose backstory takes place in a setting belonging to a movie, book or game. We prefer that you, if you must use a race from another setting, that you create its own setting and backstory. Even if the only similarity is a name, it disrupts immersion, and thus is very unwanted.

    5. Certain character types may be restricted within the dream.
There are certain things that are only allowed to be played by individuals who have proven themselves competant and responsible roleplayers. The right to play these character types may be revoked at any time, and the character in question will be reveiwed before it can be played within the setting. The restricted character types are: various undead including vampires, any sort of demon or demon-kin, feral dragons or similar large feral beasts of destructive ability, angels or angelic beings, any sort of were-creature, and shapeshifters. (Note: These characters are allowed if staff approved! We just don't want a dream full of such things.)
Please Note!: We will no longer be accepting any dragon characters, since we currently have a suitable amount approved.

    6. No changes to the setting without permission from the RAH.
Such a thing can be disruptive, and much like the restricted races, we prefer to keep changes to the setting controlled. You must always ask the rah of the dream if a character will cause disruption in a drastic way. Here are some examples of what is not allowed without permission: burning down the tavern, setting a plague loose within the city, or otherwise damage a building, property, or cause a wide area of mayhem.

    7. In-Character Actions will always lead to In-Character Consequences.
A character's acts will always bring about consequences, just as in real life. In real life, punching a policeman that's searching you will probably get you in huge trouble. In this dream, the same logic applies. Think about the acts you character does ICly, because the other players and the setting itself will react to them logically. The consent rule will not save you from logical consequences to your character.

    8. Want a job? Participation is necessary!
We only accept applications for jobs from players that have roleplayed within the dream already.
Management Positions- If you want to apply for a management position, you'll need to be very active in the dream- and remain active.
Employment Positions- Those applying for employment positions need to obtain the job through roleplay, and need to be around to keep that job.
Click here to learn how to apply.
Important: if a player has been missing for a month without warning, that position will be up for grabs again. After three months, we'll remove the character from the member listing. To prevent this from happening, please post any absences on the OOC forum.

PS: If you see anyone breaking these rules, please alert the staff! We appreciate your help in keeping the dream running smoothly.
