  • 1. If you are a tavern patron, young or old, you are welcome.
    2. Respect your fellow players: no name-calling, insults or negative attitudes please.
    3. Be creative, supportive and have fun. :D
    4. Before joining any current IC thread, please make an attempt to contact the players beforehand (if no obvious GM is available). Otherwise, always contact a GM before joining current IC threads.
    5. DO NOT sign up for an active IC thread if you do not intend to be an active member.
    6. To be an active RP member, please respect your fellow players and agree upon a reasonable posting turnabout with the GM/other players in your plot.
    7. The Mystic Tavern is here to teach people how to be better roleplayers. Please respect this process and assist when necessary.
    8. Ultimately, this is YOUR place. Please treat others as you would like to be treated, and remember...long live the Mystic Tavern!

  • The story (so far)...

    The original Mystic Tavern was a user-created chat room on Lycos Chat. In the days of old when Dragon Lord reigned, I was known as EVILvampireLADY. During those years I learnt how to escape into a world of high fantasy where all different types of creatures entered the Mystic Tavern in search of a cool drink and a friendly ear. Characters met, fell in love, married, went to war, formed allegiances...all in the tavern of old. It was a truly magical place, one we can never let die.

    Over the years there have been many incarnations of the Mystic Tavern. Most of us have scattered far and wide, and, sadly, some of us have given up on RP; some of us have lost that sense of wonder and magic we felt when we played these characters and wrote these amazing stories. Afraid that everything would be lost, I created a place called Morthika to house some of the stories I had started playing at the Mystic Tavern. Players I had met along the way followed me and we continued to create our stories, though the setting of the Mystic Tavern and the magic of those days were left behind.

    I occasionally hear from patrons of old and after catching up, they always ask the same thing: "What ever did happen to the Mystic Tavern?" I direct them to our chatroom and we have a bit of fun playing around and rehashing old times.

    A few people go on to Google it, hoping to find a place where the dream is still intact and they can contact old friends and RP partners. They might even hope to find a place containing character information, biographies and copies of stories and live RP transcripts. Unfortunately, no such place exists...YET.

    This is where this place comes in! We want to carry on the tradition of the Mystic Tavern and hope that players from all over the world can come back together and create that magic once again -- and help a new generation to discover that wonderful world we have all created.

    If you share this sentiment, or even if you have never heard of the MT before but think it sounds rather grand, then please come on in!
