"Sire! The commoners are not pleased with the policies you have developed, M'lord! What shall we do to curb their appetite for change?" A concerned inquiry echoed through the elegant inner sanctum of the Hall of Sovereignty, a massive citidel for politicians, governors, and military generals to debate and agree on decisions which would be best for the city state of Skorn. Housed on the biggest isle of the island chain, This massive structure was a landmark and a symbol of the might of Skorn. " Do not worry, They shall submit to the will of the Empire! Any sort of resistance shall be considered terrorism and anyone involved shall be persecuted as a traitor and an aggressor. That will teach common folk to question the decisions made by their superiors. We shall NOT tolerate any sort of defiance!" Aventus uttered with the up most contempt for the peasants of Skorn.
Aventus was not a man of leisure or foolery. Aventus had not time for the normal trappings of common Skorn life, infact he despised commoners. He felt that their existence was a charade to consume as many resources as possible, which he considered pathethic. He believed if a man was less than incredible, he was not worth his weight in salt. "A man that has not contributed to society, is a man unfit to procreate" Aventus thought to himself, confirming his ideology.
The common people did not always look to Aventus with such discontent. Once upon a time, The isles of Skorn were in derelict due to the Great War between Skorn and the mainlanders. The people feared that their tiny island naton would be crushed by the immense power of the mainland militia. The people of Skorn were profoundly untrusting of outsiders like a shifty alley dweller. Aventus came from the West, a nation far from the isle and much different from the standard Skorn rituals and convictions. Island dwellers did not trust white men, especially outsiders like Aventus but in their battered and desperate predicament they turned to a man they didnt quite understand yet.
Aventus was a brilliant tactician and militia officer. His army single handedly began to push the outsiders out of the isles and began to progress forward, Ascending on Mainland cities with extreme prejudice. Aventus policy was simple yet apathetic, Take no prisoners. Scores of men, women, and children were slaughtered at the hands of Aventus, directly or indirectly. Aventus did not value human life, only seeing it as a means to an end. He could taste the fear of his enemies and the utter hopelessness of their defeat.
Aventus was able to bring about an armistice treaty which the mainlanders eagerly accepted, knowing that some of the mainland would be acquired by the nation of Skorn. The commonfolk paraded and cheered through the streets and cities of Skorn. All through the isles, Aventus name was shouted and praised. The granted him the title of Lord and surrendered authority to his rule. This pleased Aventus to the highest degree. This was the opportunity Aventus dreamed and yearned for with each passing day. Now his plans for domination would begin...
Within a few years, the people began to understand the man they had championed after the resolution of the war. This man was responsible for the most draconian period of Skorn's history. Day in and day out, laws were passed without regulation. Each law disguised as a protection, which was a far cry from the truth. Each law incorporated into the haven's constitution would strip citizens of their liberty and freedom, and constrain them to conform to the ideology of their elected sire, Aventus.
" The people of this nation will understand their full complice is not only necessary but demanded by their officials, Anything less would be considered treachory and those accused would be subjected to law of treason!." Aventus muttered arrogantly. Aventus has known for many years that the treasury was running bone dry when it came to currency, but his concerns were not money. He knew within years, the nation would collapse due to its debt. Debts that he collected upon his glorious quest for absolute control.
Aventus was a tall fair skinned man of noble bloodline. His carefully pulled back mane, stained in gray would translate his wisedom and intelligence, but shroud his true heinous intentions. Most days Aventus wore his war armaments like a badge of achievement, a badge of victory over his enemies and rivals. A breast plate adorned in ivory spikes and grayscale craniums enveloped the front of the mail, symbolizing Aventus's ballad of war. he rarely adopt to utilize his helm which also was incased in precious stones and razor sharp spikes. Aventus rarely had to unsheath his long sword, but it never left the side of its sire. Nothing spectactular about this armament other than the infamous epic of its wielder. Aventus had not had the excitement of battle in years, yet his soul burned for it. He was no slouch or even rusty when it came to sword play. Aventus was a master of fencing, footing, and enviroment awareness, making him a terrifying adversary....
Yet when the people finally decided that his rule was unfit, unjust and would not be tolerated, they stormed the citadel where Aventus dwelled, destroying and vandalizing anything in their quest for the destruction of their once beloved Lord. Yet when the peasants penetrated Aventus's quarters, only the ghostly fragments of his rule stood, ghastly evidence of his time in the isle. The enraged town folk thoroughly searched for their culprit but to no avail he was unable to be located. Aventus had flee'd with the remaining treasures of the nation, securing his personal wealth upon his exile.
Within miles of the remote tavern, Aventus searched for a safe location to begin his quest for absolute power once more. "This tavern will suffice as a birthing point for my retribution!" Aventus cleverly thought to himself, still enraged that the ungrateful peasant maggots would dare challenge his rule. This would be their undoing according to Aventus, this was cause for mass executions once he had the man power to return to his crumbling empire. With a devilish smirk inscribed on his face, Aventus moved toward the tavern with haste....
