  • Continuity Guidelines

This thread can be used if you're both new to the Dragonlands canon or new to Continuity RP in general! While our community technically falls under the 'Strict RP' umbrella we'd like to consider ourselves relaxed on somethings that other Strict RP dreams might not be.

For a more comprehensive list take a look at Strict RP in a Continuity as done by Talzhemir (The Dragonlands canon's original creator). The 5 rules below are edited down from the original 26:

    1. While in an RP please try to avoid OOC chatter
While we all enjoy some occasional OOC chit-chat during an RP it is best to keep it to a minimum. This very rarely needs to be enforced as usually people either don't mind it or it fizzles out once RP resumes. If you need to make an OOC note for something while in an RP please use some for of brackets: ( ), [ ], { }, < >

    2. Keep information that you learned OOCly to yourself
While this doesn't stop people from sharing information OOCly between players it does stop people from bringing OOC to IC (vice versa). Taking things that happen ICly to OOC is also a no-no and will hurt fellow players and the community as a whole.

    3. Keep your alt/other characters apart
It is considered unfair for your alts to directly interact, even if your alts are family members. It is best to have them interact only in the 'background' of things and never in an RP together. Sometimes you might end up with two alts in one scene and most people will just have one politely leave or ignore each other entirely.

    4. IC Actions have IC Consequences
If your character goes on a maniacal killing spree there will (unfortunately, right?) be dire consequences. They will likely (hopefully, eventually) be caught and executed for their crimes. Most known murders don't get a trial, the proof is in the body count they left behind.

    5. Our Continuity is self contained
Meaning another Dragonlands dream might be within the same canon, but not the same Continuity. Your character's backstory, so long as it doesn't impose great changes on the world's continuity, doesn't need to be changed.

  • The World

The below is edited down from the full breakdown available HERE

The Dragonlands is the Official Canon of Furcadia. It is made up of a marriage of mundane and magical where, according the the legend of the world, 'furres' were created. There are no naturally occurring feral mammals in the world (such as foxes, tigers, wolves, deer, etc), instead the fauna is made up of reptiles, birds, and fish.

The geography of the land is divided into 3 main continents:
πŸ”† The Olde World: A map that resembles real-world Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Magic fails here while technology akin to the Renaissance flourishes.
πŸ”† Drakoria: A harsh, mountainous place ruled by Wyrmmes. Metal crumbles into dust in seconds and they make due with alternatives such as glass and wood. Slavery is a dark fact of life in Drakoria where furres and bugges live to serve their Drakorian overlords.
πŸ”† Kasuria: A country ruled by a Monarch and home to nobles, mages, and common furres. It is home to the College of Elements, the central mage school, and ancient legions of Knights that ride scarhawks and dracosaurs.

The world is populated by furres, anthropomorphic versions of real world animals, and many other strange beings. Mythical beings β€” such as phoenixes and gryffes β€” and Supernaturals β€” such as werefurres, vampyres, and faeries β€” inhabit the world side-by-side with the common furres. Mythicals are rare and in the Olde World they are feared so they tend to keep to themselves; in contrast Supernaturals tend to do well as there is no magic there to sniff them out.

Phoenixes are bird-people that when killed the have a special ability called Reborning that teleports them 'home nest' as an egg after their bodies burn to ash. Gryffes are beings descended from two Primes β€” the Light Prime Saligor and the Dark Prime Peristane β€” who both look like gryphons; one was originally an eagle, the other a lion, and after combining during a battle they were never quite the same after separating. Last are the Demifane, mortal furres descended from Supernaturals and are immune to their powers. They are often hunters of werefurres, vampyres, and faeries for this reason.

The First Wyrmmes were the original race created by the Primes, a group of godly beings that made the world around us. Unfortunately it was their creator's interference that wiped them all out. Against the wishes of the Dragon, whose children are the Primes, some rebelled and recreated the Second Wyrmmes in their place. This conflict split the gods into two factions β€”the Light Primes and the Dark Primes.

Reptiles, fish, and birds make up more in the Dragonlands than just the world's fauna, some are monsters while others are sentient races. They are listed in the Bestiary and include things like nagas, surfcutters, lichenthropes, and much more!
