Do you like cyberpunk, sci-fi, or Shadowrun? Neon Age might be for you!

Neon Age is a continuity where fantasy and sci-fi meet and social and political conflict is a main theme. Whether you like to play humans, anthros, robots or just like cool as shit tech there is a place for you here.

Neon Age is a world that is both dazzling and dark with plenty of cyberpunk and fantasy influence.

At some point in the near future the world has changed quite a bit. The countries of North America have formed a coalition with the United States as their leader, Russia has fractured into three independent nations, Australia and much of New Zealand has fallen victim to ecological collapse, and the Middle East is... pretty much the same. Mankind has advanced a great deal technologically with 90% of the world's population residing in sprawling mega-metropolises bathed in neon signage and illuminated holo-screens. Science reigns, but there's a new player on the field - Aether. It's a powerful force best described as magic and it can shape the world.

Naturally mankind has sought to explore and control aether and as a result society has changed dramatically. Much of the newer tech being produced uses aether to make what was once impossible possible and humans have begun to learn to manipulate it and use it themselves - but it's not the shining utopia one might expect. Aether is volatile and unpredictable at times and the world has seen its fair share of disasters owing to the careless manipulation of the force and flirtations with other dimensions. As a result the general public is rather quite afraid of aether and its use and aether users, mages or the less friendly 'fairies', are outcasts.

Aether aside society already had its fair share of social disparity. Genetic engineering had become rather unrestricted and soon human-animal hybrids were cropping up in laboratories across the globe. These hybrids were used primarily for medical testing and organ farming and treated little better than lab rats. Over time movements gathered to extend rights for these unfortunate creatures as it had come to light a fair many of them were actually sentient and free-thinking. In the present-day many hybrids were awarded some basic rights and released from captivity but their freedom is bittersweet: dubbed 'mutts', hybrids are little more than second class citizens still lacking many rights and freedoms baseline humans enjoy.
