L7 ⇀ 'Square', generally referring to police or other body of authority

Holo ⇀ Hologram. Holos are usually used for pre-recorded messages and displays but some are attached to AIs for interactivity.

Duster ⇀ Hitman, derived from 'dusted' where someone is killed (usually murdered).

Mage ⇀ Aether user. Humans and hybrids have the ability, some are more natural at it than others. Trans-dimensionals can as well but synthetics such as androids cannot.

Fairy ⇀ Pejorative term for a mage.

Aether ⇀ A mysterious, powerful, and volatile force best described as magic. Feared by the general public despite innumerable new technologies being based off the stuff. It can be manipulated by humans though few mages or 'fairies' admit to such.

Mutt ⇀ Pejorative term for hybrids.

Elixir ⇀ A recreational party drug not unlike the ones we're familiar with. Induces feelings of intense euphoria, occasionally mild hallucinations and tends to result in reckless endangerment if not used safely. Coming off the high users are utterly exhausted. Its effects on non-humans is unpredictable.

Fairy Catcher ⇀ Slang for an officer from the Aether Control department. Their purpose is to track and deal with mages that violate laws pertaining to aether use.

Aetherology ⇀ The study of aether. Scientists in this field are aetherologists.

Rifting ⇀ Slang for opening up portals or 'rifts' to other dimensions. Also sometimes means to teleport, something that is believed to be almost impossible without using portals.

Dynamo ⇀ One of many new programming languages used. Dynamo is most frequently used in quantum computing.

Soylent ⇀ Much like its fictional namesake, soylent is the answer to food shortages and skyrocketing prices. It is a nutritionally complete powder that is dissolved in water prior to consumption. It's cheap and easy to find making it the go-to for the impoverished and those without access to real food. The downside is that while it keeps you nourished it doesn't keep you full.
