  • A quick look

Yveridia is a seedy little settlement located not too far off well traveled paths and is surrounded by thick bramble that isolates it from the rest of its realm.

There is a large wall that separates two zones of the settlement. The first zone is the residential and shop district. It is by far the nicer of the two, where things are not so bad in the eye of the public. In fact, it seems to have successfully kept up with the roots of the town's beginnings, flourishing and rich. With the Wolves' Den and Jailhouse nearby, it is safe enough for the average citizen, who can spend their days in peace without fear of the corruption rampant deeper in Yveridia. Beyond the wall that hides it away from the nicer display of a town is the Cesspoole, and it is the true heart of Yveridia, where you will find more nefarious things, like the slaving pens or the black market.

The settlement is guarded by a group known as the "Wolves", an official guard that answer only to the town's provost. They refer to all criminals as "Rats" though are not much better themselves. On average, they are ruthless, disreputable and brutal in their pursuit for the skewed justice that they seek. They will take bribes to leave "Rats" alone or to turn the other way. However, it's always a gamble as a Wolf is unpredictable and may take the bribe while continuing their hunt.

The Whelps are Wolf Trainees, identifiable by lack of official badge on the wolf uniform. For the most part, both Rats and Wolves leave average town citizens alone, so the establishment is safe enough for those that keep their noses out of crime.

More will be added as the town grows, so keep your eyes open!
  • An Old Settlement Gone Wrong

{Please mind our dust as we hash this out, we're a fully operating work in progress!

Yveridia was rumored to have been settled nearly 1,500 years ago by wealthy Kasurian refugees who managed establish a strong and prosperous trade market. A town ripe with the idea of a fresh start and nobility, Yveridia found itself slowly sinking from dream into nightmare. Being naturally camouflaged by dense treeline and over grown forests, the same isolated appeal that drew in its first settlers looking for a life away from tragedy also found itself attracting a more specialized group of settlers- Rogues.

Over the next few generations, Yveridia would find itself transitioning from being a hidden home to some of Kasuria's most wealthy defectors to a hide away for Kasuria's most notorious of criminals and outlaws. The sudden and steady infestation of these unsavory characters earned them the nickname 'Rats'. The mix of common criminal with wealthy socialites worked quietly for many years, several of them learning trades and earning honest living. Some might say the first outlaws helped set in stone some of the towns more profitable trades such a lumber and fine crafts.. but when the discovery of precious ore and metals just beneath the surface of their home, the next five hundred years would strain the relationship between the Rats and Yveridias residents. No longer content to live simple but comfortable off of the trade routes, more and more Rats flooded Yveridia through the years in search of quick and easy money through the Ore mines.

Violence broke out frequently as Yveridias guarding force was ill equipped to handle the Rats fighting for control of the ore mines. Their clumsy power struggle lead to many deaths, not just but from violence- but mines collapsing due to quick and forced tunneling. For nearly three years, Yveridias famous underwater springs were poisoned with iron and copper from careless irrigation of mine trenches. That was the final straw. Mayors and elected officials were clueless on how to handle the problem- there was not a solution in sight. That was, until a man stepped up with a plan. A common jailor... a common Provost.

The council at lack of better ideas, saw to it that the young Provost had everything he needed. To save the town, he required control of it. Although the details are lost through generations, it is clear that something had worked. Guards, known as 'Wolves' patrol the bustling town in full force at all times making sure Rats are kept in line. At times, their ruthlessness blurs the line between passion and pure police state. The role of Provost has stayed strong as the symbol of leadership and command of Yveridia, even in recent corruptions. Passed on only through death or willing retirement.
