A trading company that is more like that of a monetary empire.
The little known about headquarters settled in the outskirts of the unassuming town of Yveridia. No one would suspect the large mansion owned by a masked gentleman to be more than the store front and home of someone who had riches.
Men and women dressed in blue and gold would often be seen leaving and entering the large mansion. Trade caravans would often stop and get stocked here. They would be loaded in the back by burly men in uniforms. Inside were maps, maps that had pins for all the hubs this empire stretched.
The observant would note there were a private guard for the shop and caravan. Better armed, better armored, and they seemed to have an air of confidence and skill about them. They also wore gold and blue.
If one ever ventured to one of the cities on the coast were a trading post was they would know about the fleet. A fleet of 30 ships.
The flag ship was an ex-slave ship, a frigate class ship known as the Night's Dishonor. It was iron and wood weaved, had 42 guns on each side, two sets of swivels, and mortars. Beyond that it was hard to tell what other items were about the ship.
The trading company dealt in all matters of trade. Raw materials, transportation of diplomats and arms. You name it, Darkness over Dawn probably covered it. With their extensive network and highly optimized gear and training they were often the people turned to when a job was too hard or too messy for standard governments to handle the trade. They guaranteed the goods got there.
Rumor had it was that they also dabbled in the rare, the occult, the enchanted and powerful artifacts. But these were just rumors after all.
The masked man who was said to be the owner was only thus a rumor. Those who traded with him or those who lived in Yveridia proper knew he was the man behind the sprawling grasp. Though his choice of headquarters kept him out of the eyes of rules and kings who would seek to destabilize his ever growing control. Knowledge and information, more was gained by each new storefront in the known world.
Oh, and if you're wondering, they are always hiring.
