Yveriidia

An unassuming building nestled between the flophouse and some residences houses a bloody little secret: Yveridia's "blood pits." The upstairs room is fairly quiet, though the clamor of fighting can sometimes be heard from below.

Matches
On most nights someone can show up to the pits and be treated to glorious bloodshed. Most matches cost a handful of copper pinches or a couple bronze chunks to attend, but more prestigious fighters warrant a higher entry fee.

Fights usually continue until one fighter forfeits, though forced matches to the death aren't unheard of. Technically lethal matches are illegal in Yveridia and so these aren't advertised very publicly.

Occasionally matches are made interesting by the introduction of handicaps, wild beasts, criminals to be executed (also very illegal), etc.

Gladiators
Most of the pit fighters are freemen who engage in the combat for coin. The winner of the combat earns a little bit of the purse depending on how prestigious the fight is. Losers may receive a small consolation prize as well to keep them coming back. The pits do own the papers of a few gladiator slaves as well--they do not earn the winner's purse, but may receive favors.

Bets
Betting on fights is encouraged. Anyone may place a bet with the house at any time until the fight begins. The house generally only handles bets in copper and bronze, except for higher end fights.
