"I, Lady Taevia, head of the mage's college in Yveridia, open my doors to any and all students that wish to harness the life force of this world and the various elemental planes. Scribes, enchanters, and alchemists are also welcome within these halls to practice and learn more of their craft.
Currently, we offer the following courses...
Abjuration: The practice of defensive magic, including the creation and destruction of both physical and magical barriers.
Alchemy: The practice of creating poultices, salves, elixirs, potent reagents, and potions.
Conjuration: The art of summoning and controlling creatures from other elemental planes.
Divination: A school of spells that allow one to learn long forgotten secrets, peer into the future, find hidden things, and to foil deceptive spells.
Enchantment: A broad school ranging from charms and influences upon someone's mind, to altering the physical properties of certain items.
Evocation: Spells that manipulate energy... The creation of something from nothing. Most destructive spells come from this school of magic.
Illusion: Spells designed to manipulate the senses and trick the minds of others. The creation of things that are not truly there.
Necromancy: An often misunderstood school of magic. It is the manipulation of life force to either breathe unlife into a corpse, or to strip energy from the undead to make them weaker.
Transmutation: A school of magic used to change the properties of some creature, thing, or condition to a more desirable form.
We do also host a large array of alternative magics for those that seek higher learning... Among these schools of teaching are the arts of the warlock, blood mage, hexblade, spellbreakers, and spell thieves.
Due to the volatile nature of magic and the various risks that are associated with incantations and measurements used for reagents, strict rules have been put in place. Those that break the rules are given two chances, and only two.
Upon the first breach of the code of conduct, the student will be banned from setting foot within the college for one week.
Upon the second breach, the student will be expelled with no chance of rejoining.
Attire:Students are to wear clothing at all times while within the college. A naked body is highly distracting and highly prone to the arcane energies that are being wielded. I am forced to maintain a professional look, thus I require the same of my students. Your body is no more beautiful or pure than anyone else's, you will not receive special treatment.
Hair: Short hair is preferred but not mandatory. Hair must be kept clean and pulled behind the student's head so not to obstruct vision.
Fingernails and/or claws: To be kept as short and dull as possible if working within a group. Gloves are acceptable.
Chest coverings: This applies to men and women. Wear a shawl, a shirt, tunic, robe. Anything that is modest and hides your form from view. Many students are young and are host to certain desires... This makes them prone to showing off, and likely getting someone killed.
Leggings: Wear pants. No dress or kilt. The reasoning is much of the same. I am not going to check everyone in a dress, skirt, or kilt for undergarments and I do not wish for any accidents.
Shoes: Keep your feet clean and I will have no problem with you walking without shoes.
Respect: You are allowed to argue, debate, and bicker over magic with students. This promotes growth. Respect all schools of magic, however. They are all important for different reasons.
Listen: The headmistress is in charge of the college for a reason. Taevia's word is law, arguing with the headmistress may end in expulsion... or a day as a frog.
Spellbooks: The college is host to, roughly, five hundred spellbooks. Each filled with spells of various magics ranging from elven, to dwarven, to draconic. None of these tombs are to leave the college without permission of Taevia.
Dark Arts: There is no 'evil' magic. Only magic used for ill-guided purposes. This said, necromancy and the path of the warlock are only to be studied. The college does not condone their use.
Demons: Demons will be placed under a crippling suppression spell should they enter or be summoned within the college. This is a safety measure, and dispelling said suppression is grounds for expulsion.
Familiars, elementals, and golems: These creatures are to be used for study only... Until the mage has proved themselves capable of controlling the creature completely, they will not be allowed to summon or create one outside of the college.
