If any had passed them in the late evening, they might have spotted a beautiful funeral coach sitting majestically on one side of the street. In the minutes approaching midnight, a grim figure, garbed in a black overcoat and top-hat readied four black mares for travel. After a moment of securing the horses, the tall gaunt man leapt up into the drivers seat and growled for the horses to move on.
Their hooves would likely pierce the stillness of the night for several blocks, accompanied by the clattering of wheels rolling over the cobbled street. The coach rolled down the main street and off into the forest where the horses picked up speed into a rumble of thundering hooves. It would later join the main road South.
