Tillius Elmitore, envoy to the King and Queen of Eileadora, Wizard of Sairon, the Mage's College of Eileadora, and representative of the High Council of Etla Isle, would have approached in the later hours of the evening with news to be received by the powers that be around Yveridia. Tillius would have been spotted in the Bloody Wench, before (hopefully) being given the chance to speak with someone in a position to help convey a message on behalf of Eileadora.
Unfortunately, the Elf had absolutely no idea who anyone was about the City, and could have been misled in various ways upon arriving. It proved to the Councilman that he knew too little about their distant allies, and maybe this was the time to extend out more positive relations between Eileadora and Yveridia for many reasons!
The Elf would be introduced to Merin, and would proceed to explain the situation to the Bard. Merin would help to spread word of the news:
Eileadora had closed down the portal connecting the two realms together. A threat to horticulture and overall stability of the entire ecosystem of Eileadora had prompted the King of Eileadora to issue a formal edict to close the portal until the matter solved.
What was that matter?
A Plague of Spores had started to ravage Eileadora! Effects to furres, humans, and most mythical creatures would be nothing more than apparent allergic reactions, though it was effectively killing the insect population and had a terribly bad impact on Bugge creatures.
If one knew anything about how pollination worked, and how bees were integral to the survival of many ecological systems and the hierarchy of nature, it would come as no surprise why those of Eileadora wanted to ensure Yveridia was not damaged, nor any potential transfer of taint would happen between the two places.
To be proof positive that the portal was closed, and it was understood the reasons for doing this, Tillius was sent to convey this message to those of Yveridia.
It could be possible the Elf was around for a few days to introduce himself to other members of Yveridia, galavant about the Library or the local Mage's College, or even speak to the local Wolves. However, it would be stressed that until Eileadora had the "All Clear" regarding the insect issue, the portal would not be reopened between the two realms!
Anyone trying to use the portal would find no passage to Eileadora ; Other travel arrangements would need to be made for anyone seeking out that fabled City.
It was clear by the many actions, and the chosen representative sent, that these matters were to be conveyed as being ones of peace and concern for continued relations between the two Cities, and not out of disregard nor desire for closing down their connection permanently.
Fortunately, as a Wizard, a former Arch mage, with many years of experience, Tillius could get himself back to Eileadora with absolutely no issue or strain. However, the Elf would not leave until he had confirmed that no spores, plague, taint, or other negative energy had traveled through the portal to harm the local populace of Yveridia.
