Rose yawned and sat up stretching. She smacked her lips with that dreadful morning breath then rubbed her eyes and yawned again. She unzipped her tent and squinted stepping out onto the damp camp grounds. The sun was just beginning to poke up over the horizon and shine through the trees. The fire was still going slightly, she added some more wood to the fire then pulled out some marshmallows and roasted them. Marshmallows were a common food around here, along with puny catfish, rabbit, deer, and what crops she could get to survive which mainly consisted of potatoes and green beans. When she was done eating her small breakfast she began to clean her rifles and sharpen her knives.
Hael woke up having gotten almost no sleep as her body was becoming more immune to human needs. She went to get up but felt an arm wrapped around her waist, she turned over enough to see a new girl fast asleep. She carefully lifted the arm off her waist then touched her stomach where she had been shot and noticed that the scar was gone. She was confused but too hungry to care. She got out of the tent and saw Rose sitting by the fire cleaning her weapons. She spotted a deer in the woods and ran off after it.
Hazel tossed and turned and flailed around alone in the tent. She was having a nightmare. She sat up and screamed but nothing came out. She was too weak to make a sound after using her powers like she did last night after just falling. She heard a low him of whispers and whistles, she could still hear the other angels talking. It wasn't natural anymore, it was painful, she couldn't bear the sound of it. She crawled out of the tent then rose to her feet. She stumbled out towards the campfire then fell to her knees, "are any of you," she wheezed and coughed, "good with a knife?"
Becca was still laying on the ground, watching the sunrise, she stood up and stretched her limbs, groaning. She went and sat by the still going fire, "Moring ladies.", she said softly.
I pull out my knife "somebody say something about being good with a knife"
"Me," she panted, "I need this," she drew an Enochian phrase with her finger in the dirt then pulled her shirt off, "I need this carved into," she stuttered looking around her body, "somewhere, just do it quick."
"Are you trying to hide from something," Rose asked thinking of her tattoo that made her invisible to demons.
She gulped and nodded her head, "I need," she coughed still weak on the ground, "red meat."
Now how should I go about doing this?" I say as I turn the knife faceing out
"However you want," she breathed laying on her back.
I cut the symbol you wanted on your back" there like that
"Yeah," she breathed relieved. Her eyes glowed white, "so red meat, I'll go get some," her wings were repaired now and she flew off, a few seconds later she reappeared with a package of ground beef, "does anyone know how to cook this?"
Hael walked back into camp satisfied with her hunt, her mouth was covered with blood as well as her hands, "how is everyone?" She asked as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand unknowingly smearing the blood even more.
Rose giggled, "I'm just great, here let me help you with that," she grabbed a cloth and wet it with some water from her canteen and wiped the blood from Hael's mouth
I close my eyes and cross my arms leaning on one of the trees
Rose takes the ground beef from Hazel then reached for a frying pan that she places over the fire, she opens the ground beef and begins making burgers that she places into the frying pan, "since when do angels need to eat?" She asks poking the burgers around with an old plastic spatula.
She sits on the ground next to Rose, "most of my grace was taken," she tilts her head back to expose the large gash starting to heal on her neck, "I closed it before it all escaped then I was pushed out. Since I only have half of it, I need to do human things now like sleep and eat or my vessel will die. The symbol that Jake carved into me will prevent any other angels from finding me to take the rest of my grace."
"Why would the other angels want to take your grace?" She asked looking at the girl on the ground next to her.
"Because they want me powerless," she sighed, "I think."
