To say the city had been ill at ease over the past few months was an understatement. There was an electricity in the air that kept the residents perched on the edge of their seats as the world turned to it's agonizingly slow pace. Life had never been more dangerous for the every day man about the streets than this. The two crime families, the Casteluccia's and the Marconi's, had all but decimated the words honesty and hard working in the ocean side city of Prospect Heights. Prohibition paved the way for the game of crooked politicians and the greasy palms that supported them. A city of vice and greed where few dared to tread.
The boisterous Marconi's hold the right's to every gambling connection within the city limits and even beyond, goading men and women into spending their hard earned wealth with the lust for more, the high life of jewels, fame and fortune. They are often seen flexing their wealth in the faces of the common man and woman with nary a care for who is stepped on.
The modest Casteluccia's held the rights to the liquor over every county within the city limits and beyond. Strict and serious, the family often allowed themselves only one drink a day, or so the rumors would claim, and held to tight schedules kept upon hushes lips.
After endless months of civil war in the streets the crime families have finally seemed to come to a peaceful treaty last week. The blue collar'd blood no longer painted the streets and the families seemed content to revel in the peace for the moments it lasted. War was far too expensive when working with contraband as precious as their own and thus an accord was made to protect the supplies and assets of each family.
This brings us to present day, where the residents of the city have begun to grow weary of the war that has cost them money, power and relatives. Rumors have begun to spread about a new outfit in town. Some claimed the man an illusion, created by the other families to ensure peace in the lower class, while others accepted the miracle that had finally come to their side of the tracks. Things in the city were about to start changing for what many prayed to be the better.
And thus in fair Prospect Heights is where we lay our scene.....
