Critical rolls between 1 and 10.

1 is a critical fail, it cancels out a single success (if any) and if you have no successes, it counts as a critical fail (something bad happens instead of the attempt just failing)

Example:

1, 4, 3, 9 , 4
9 is considered a success, but you rolled a 1, so you failed the attempt and will have to try again.

1, 5, 9, 4, 3, 1
The 9 is considered a success, but you rolled two 1s. Something explodes.

On the other hand, a 10 is a critical success. It counts as two successes. Each critical fail will only cancel out one of these successes.

Hope it helps.
so what happens in the case of a zero?
I ignored yours.

It would have done some serious damage to Vincent if I didn't :P

But I want to push along the story.
Well thank you then
I focus on the story more than anything, dice rolls are good but sometimes you have to work around them.
Okay
Okay, will do. Playing Vincent as I see him now. Rather paranoid.
'Cuz of you, I'm adding a new merit or something.

Paranoid - Impulsive Wits rolls every single turn at a penalty of something.
I'm editing my character sheet right now, that is going on it I just want you to know.
You might wanna think about it.

"Impulsively aware of their surroundings, a person with this merit is allowed to perform an extra Wits roll for free every turn, in addition to any other rolls they please. This person is often jittery, every Wits roll (including the freebie roll) receives a penalty of -1. More often than not, a successful roll in this case has an unusual effect of causing things that would not have otherwise happened. A dramatic failure of this impulsive roll results in a panic attack, debilitating the user with exaggerated fears of their surroundings."
hmmm... Maybe not
It could be useful, mind you. But it's also part way a flaw.

You don't need it to be paranoid, anyway. You're just gonna be absolutely consumed by wits rolls every turn more than likely
Yeah, from what I'v been doing so far I could see that
It could be handy. Say for example in combat. You're busy rolling other stuff, and all the sudden your paranoia pays off and you manage something you wouldnt've been able to otherwise.

You can only roll two sets of dice, so... good and bad.
yeah, I'll weigh the pros an cons
