This crown jewel of the monster empire is considered nearly impervious, guarded by grand walls and guarded ports where the confluence of the sea, strait, and inlet making for difficult invasion. The surrounding lands are shrublands and mixed woodlands of diverse flora; a land of hills and rocky cliff sides, some steep enough to resemble fjords, particularity on the northern coasts where strait meets savage sea.
It's a region known for earthquakes in the past.
Climate:
The city is set in what is called a 'transitional climatic zone'. It's borderline Mediterranean, humid subtropical, and oceanic in climate - hot (sometimes very hot) and dry summers, but no freezing winters. It rarely gets oppressively hot or particularly cold, with wet winters consisting of heavy rain. There is more humidity to the north than in the city due to the coastline of mixing waters making for microclimates - generally humidity is highest in the morning, when fog forms and dissipates by midday, lingering in higher summer temperatures.
Lay of The Land:
The Strait of Trivia is often mistaken for a river, but is in fact a narrow sea channel. An inlet known as the Silver Horn curves between the two sides of the city, separating the citizenry from the quarry and settlement dug deep into ruins on the other side; these ruins run deep into the earth on both banks of the inlet (the city built atop of them over the ages) and the strait.
There are plenty who believe they run all under the earth in a relatively massive area - ruins can be found at the bottom of both water filled gouges. It is believed that these and other ruins across the land are the remains of a long dead ancient civilization.
The bridge of land that it cuts through separates two inland seas, the smaller Sea of Kall to the south and the expansive Savage Sea to the north. There in a second channel to the southwest from the Sea of Kall to the sea of Labyrinthine Isles (ruled by the minotaur) and finally the Monstrous Sea between peninsula.
There are a lot of smaller settlements in the near vicinity - towns and villages running up both sides of the strait and along the edges of the savage sea, veins of the beating heart that is Trivantis.

The River
A great river runs from the far western end of the forest, two tributaries running down from the mountains meeting in a valley between to form The Lykos - this rivers feeds the city aqueducts and is of vital importance. It runs all the way into the city where the Sulukule Gate stands watch over its entrance, and partially underground before running out into the Sea of Kall. -

Well trained and intelligent, pegasi are as diverse a creature as any horse, ranging in size, elegance, colour, and sometimes even features. They are used primarily as the city's guardians of the sky, quite often found lounging atop roofs and walls when not on duty.
While the taller and more beautiful of pegasi are favoured for public spectacle, the much more stout and powerful, pony-like pegasi are the true workhorses of the empire.
Gryffin
Powerful and of the cat-like variety, more often, gryffin are the less numerous of the city's air guard. Far less trainable than their pegasi stablemates, some would say they are more trouble than they are worth.
