    ◙ Age Requirements:
Both due to New Versailles' protocol and due to the graphic nature of criminal cases, the NVPD enforces a strict policy of no minors within the group. Many events will focus around violent themes, suggestive behavior and otherwise mature content that, in respect to realism, will not be censored. There is no exception to this rule; you must be eighteen or older to participate in NVPD RP.

    ◙ Multiple Characters and Alts:
NVPD is happy to provide a home for altaholics! All of your alt-characters are more than welcome to join the group, though each one will require clearance from Eckart before they can be officially added to the roster. The process is the same as your main, and we do ask that you try to retain some semblance of activity on any character you add to the group.

    ◙ Activity:
NVPD strives to remain particularly active within the ever changing realm of New Versailles. Due to this and to avoid any stunted RP continuities, we ask that all members strive to remain active and involved in current RP scenarios. An absence exceeding two weeks will prompt a friendly reminder through RPR to see if you're still interested in being a part of the precinct, and further radio silence in excess of one week's time will result in your removal from the group. This will be handled on a case by case basis.

    ◙ Diversity and Etiquette:
NVPD aims to be a tight-knit and friendly community for all sorts of roleplayers. We welcome people from all walks of life and extend to them the same level of respect and kindness everyone deserves while playing the game. Whether in-game, on the forums or over outside chat programs, you are expected to treat others with politeness and understanding. Be mindful of the feelings and preferences of other people in the group and, should you find yourself uncomfortable for any reason, seek out Eckart or Adounai for assistance! We're always here to help.

    ◙ Spam, Abuse and Harassment:
There is a zero tolerance policy for hurtful and/or aggressive behavior in the NVPD – period. Anyone guilty of abusing others will be removed from the group. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, the use of offensive language toward another, mockery, inappropriately lewd behavior, disregard for consent, abusing personal information, rumor-mongering, manipulating logs, passive aggressive actions and any other form of cruel or otherwise rude behavior. If you feel as though you are being harassed by another member of the group, please contact Eckart or Adounai right away and allow a member of staff to handle the situation appropriately. We ask that events such as these remain as isolated as possible; if there's an issue, speak to staff, not your neighbor, to make sure it is taken of quickly and fairly.

    In Character Expectations

Many of these expectations are observed in tandem with the IC Code of Conduct. In short, we ask that you act reasonably and respectfully in your writing and, should events come to pass ICly that warrant penalization, you do not take it as OOC insult. Always remember the divide between IC and OOC!

    ◙ Character Limitations:
God-moding, powerplaying, metagaming and other standard negative roleplaying tropes are not permitted within the NVPD. If your actions seem overpowered or a little too convenient to be true, you may want to reconsider before moving forward with your post. No one character should excel at every job or new skill they pick up. Remember that everyone has limits and flaws and they tend to make writing more interesting than a character that's always at their best!

    ◙ Share the Wealth:
It's very important to us that everyone in the NVPD has their chance to shine during our continuities. There's a very diverse spread of roles, jobs and responsibilities within the precinct – and the variety is there for a reason! Please make a point not to single-handedly conquer the storytelling; roleplaying is not a single-person event, and should never feel like one. Excessive self-promotion or gloryhounding may warrant Out of Character intervention and/or warnings.

    ◙ Consent:
Always ask first! Be respectful and considerate to other members of the group and what they may or may not wish to subject their characters to. If your actions may be construed in any way that is unwelcome or would cause permanent long term effects on another player's character, make sure to get clear consent before proceeding.

    ◙ Points of Authority:
The NVPD is structured around a very clear ladder of rank, and we ask that you abide by that at all times in your RP. If your character goes above their rank or out of their jurisdiction and is caught, there will be reasonable consequences. Likewise, if your character frequently disrespects or speaks crassly to their boss, you can expect there will be some sort of backlash. Respecting rank helps to keep a sense of immersion in the setting of a police precinct, and helps roleplay to continue to move forward smoothly. As a general rule of thumb, if you wouldn't say it to your boss in real life, there's probably a good reason you shouldn't say it to the lieutenant. Repeat offenses of this may result in removal from the group and the precinct ICly; AKA: yes, you can be fired.

    ◙ Continuity and Representation:
The NVPD's story is built on the day to day actions of its members. Please remember that your altercations and interactions not only effect others around you, but also carry over into the main continuity of the group and could effect how we're perceived by players in the greater dream of New Versailles. Remember that you represent us out in the field, and its your roleplay that determines how we're received by anyone outside of the group! Try to act in such a way that makes us look like good civil servants, and the sort of roleplayers people can turn to when they want to deal with IC altercations.
