The Rules of Factions/Roles
Factions and roles are simply a way for roleplayers to immediately identify your characters standing. If you are a member of a corporation, whether for job or military purposes, or you fight for the OPERA Coalition, or you're just a civilian or mercenary. Your faction determines the side you fight for, while your role immediately sets out your characters general skill-set.
You may choose to have no faction/role, or one of either categories. -
Factions
KALAMITY CORPORATION - You work for a mega-giant, reveling in the benefits of a thoroughly successful company. The interconnected society that has been built upon this corporation are unrivaled, and you enjoy a level of moderate comfort and financial stability, even down to the lowest janitor.
EUROMONCHY - Your company is a technological pioneer, and they commonly use public beta testing to ensure product stability. If you signed the waver form dictating that the company will not be held liable for mishaps with said products, then you often get first hand looks at impressive, sometimes off-the-wall products. Financially, you don't think you get paid enough for this at lower levels.
There is a greater gap between the rich and the poor here, though the health benefits aren't so bad. You guess.
