Start off with setting, who's there and a rough amount of time before our first hunt.
Field Trip. Saturday 10 am.

The summer heat was beating down in D.C. as the bus unloaded. Today the Outreach sponsored a field trip to the Smithsonian. The gaggle of pre-teens giggled and gafawed their way up the steps and through security. Intermixed, the adult supervision stood up like buoys in a sea. Rory paused for just a moment before entering. With an almost reverent movement he bowed his head as he stepped into the protective shade of the National Air and Space Museum.
The sweat smell would have been strong enough, but Rory could swear that he could smell the hormones bleeding out of this pack of kids. He led the group with another adult through the security turnstile making sure the amoebic mass of humanity reformed at the other side.

Luke moved with the center of the mass. Rory wondered if that was more due to just the nature of human movement that this would prove to be where the chokepoint of security bogged down the most… reviewing the situation he determined it probably had far more to do with the knot of young girls that were jockeying for position to be next to Luke, as if showing to their peers that pushing themselves in line to be next to him showed his benevolent favor upon them.

Rashid and another outreach volunteer – Frank? Phil? Francis? – Rory still didn’t have all the names down brought up the rear guard making sure none of the herd was separated and left outside.

Inside the cool air conditioning gave a slight chill as the sweat from the outside nearly turned to ice upon their skin. They formed a mass around the crew module of one of the early rockets, the thing had survived the rigors falling through Earth’s atmosphere and was now enclosed in plexigass now after some boyscouts had desecrated it shoving museum maps and brochures in every crack they could find and climbed over it a few summers back. Legendary pieces of flight hung above them in wonder. Selfies were took, bunny ears were given.
They herded the mass to the first exhibit, a bunch of pictures of lurid vibrant color taken by the Mars rover. The adults hovered near the back to keep a watch on their charges.

So, uh” Rory cleared his throat “uh Luke. Thanks for coming out and helping today. Um, what do you think of the east coast so far?
TK walked behind his daughter, Jasmine. Despite not being blood-related, you wouldn't be able to tell by looking at them. They both looked around in wide-eyed amazement, mouth agape. TK was glad that he convinced his wife to let them go all the way to DC.

As he was looking around, he caught a glimpse of Rashid out of the corner of his eye. 'RIGHT!' he thought to himself, 'I'm not here to gawk.'

He looked down to Jasmine, and smiled, before he tightened his focus, keeping an eye, ear and nose out for anything that could go wrong.
When he was asked about going to D.C. Luke had balked at the idea of spending the afternoon surrounded by a herd of preteens. The only time he ever was okay with that was when he was sitting safely behind a table signing autographs with security on hand to get rid of the rowdy ones. They were short on chaperones and needed him, or that was the line Rory had come up with that morning and it didn't help when Rashid chimed in that he could use an outing that didn't involve alcohol or loud boisterous music. Good for them, they had won and here he was.

Luke hadn't even been to D.C. before, in fact he hadn't been a lot of places. Before he was discovered his family didn't traveled much because the upkeep on his mother’s ranch wasn’t cheap and after he had only gone to places the movies he was in were being filmed. If he'd been asked five years ago, he would have never guessed that he would get to visit the nation's capital but then again as a little country boy from Austin he never thought he'd land in LA. Of course, he never dreamed he'd turn into a werewolf either. Luke figured life just surprised you like that and you had to go with whatever came your way.

Not wanting to be spotted and cause a scene, Luke had worn his wide Dita sunglasses and uncharacteristically grabbed a baseball cap to cover his blonde head instead of his well loved cowboy hat. As he walked into the building he could picture his mother’s scolding, wagging her finger and telling him to uncover his head indoors. His desire to remain anonymous overruled the deeply ingrained manners he had for a little while, but eventually he shoved his hat in his back pocket. Even from halfway across the country, his mother's disapproval was able to reach him.

When he first walked in, Luke was prepared to keep his eyes down with his hands in his pockets so not to get recognized, that and he didn't think the National Air and Space museum sounded all that interesting. It didn't take long at the first exhibit until his sunglasses were pushed up and he was staring in awe, reading every plaque and tidbit of information. The history this place told was amazing, and not just the little blurbs written on the walls. Eventually he noticed the other adults had remained back and went back to join them, his head swimming with new ideas for stories to tell and even a concept for a new song.

Luke smiled at Rory’s question, hoping that the guy wasn’t still intimidated by him, he sometimes had a hard time getting people to see him as a normal human.. Well mostly human.. Being and not just a pretty face on the screen. Not that he didn’t like being a pretty face too, that certainly had it’s perks. Regardless he wasn’t quite ready to admit he was starting to look forward to seeing the rest of the exhibits.
”It’s not a big deal at all, but you’re welcome,” he shrugged casually,”I kind of like it here so far, the weather is cooler than SoCal or Texas and there is a lot of history here. It’s no Los Angeles when it comes to the scene but Baltimore still has it’s perks.”
This trip was going to be a wild success thanks to the O'Keefes. Rashid only had moments to think to himself between glaring at the kids that huddled around Luke like ducklings and urging everyone else to not wander off.
At least TK is trying to look out
Noone here had been so far out of the way, and Rory's willingness to put out and ask for some charity brought in wild favors. The museum was more than happy to offer an opportunity for underprivileged youth. It's just too bad they couldn't offer up a quality guide to help explain some of this.
He saw the rich playboy wander off, taking half the group with him in his wonder. Rashid sighed, hoping that the star could feel his urge to stay together with this many people.
“I find it really hard to beat the museums. If you like this you should check out the annex sometime. It has the Enola Gay and some other great planes. Rory lit up Oh hey, you were in Hollywood, they have the spaceship from Close Encounters of a Third Kind there! then deflated a little well I guess you saw props all the time… then he lit up again Man, but you’ll love it when the sport seasons hit. Nothing beats watching the Orioles or the Raven’s play
Rory waved TK over to the group. “Glad you could make it” he said offering his hand and an energetically pumped handshake. “The plan is to do the ground floor, break for lunch and then do the top.” he said.
"Hey, don't mention it" TK smiled and returned the handshake. He waved over the little girl he was walking behind.

"Rory, this is my daughter, Jasmine. She wants to say something to you." TK bends down and whispers in here ear. The little girl bashfully hides behind TK.

"Come on, darling, say thank you for inviting us." The little girl continues to shy away, but then pokes her head out.

"Th...thank you, Mr. O'Keefe" she squeaks meekly.
"And you are welcome, little lady." Rory looks over his shoulder for a second then bends on down to be at her eye level "You know, I see that you have My Little Pony shoes. You see that girl over there? Her name is Michelle. She's a big My Little Pony fan, her favorite is Twilight Sparkle, and I'm sure she would think your shoes are just the coolest."
TK smiles and takes his daughter by the hand. He looks back to Rory and thanks him. TK gives Jasmine a slight shove to encourage her to go and make friends. He stands back and beams with pride, seeing his daughter getting along so well with a small group of girls and a boy.
"... and then the stage 2 oxidizer mixes with the propellant causing an endothermic reaction on the outer shell of the the rocket from the rapid depressurization of the oxidizer canisters, which accounts for the ice sheets falling off the sides during launch..."
The museum trip went well the first half of the day. Rory lit up whenever he could describe rocketry or the physics of aerodynamics to the kids, but kind of lost his grove when they hit other topics like the WWI or air mail exhibit.
Mostly it was just herding the kids making sure they stayed generally in a group. They Left the museum to have lunch on the capital mall lawn and then re-entered for the top floor. Everything went pretty smooth, Rory was beside himself at the hands on section for kids because now he could demonstrate the stuff he’d been talking about. If only he could remember he was talking to 12-14 year olds and not grad students it probably be more effective, but the kids fed off of his enthusiasm. Everything went smooth that is until they did a head count. They were missing two kids.
Luke watched the exchange between Rory and the little girl, he didn’t have any siblings so his experience with kids was pretty limited. Those limits were being tested too, being around all the preteens on the field trip but he was finding that it wasn’t too horrible even though his hand hurt from signing a million things on the bus. Next time he’d tell them they would do it on the way home instead of having a bunch of little girls running around with his signature on their lunchboxes and backpacks.

He was a sponge for any bit of information he could get during their tour, it was funny how fascinating he found history sometimes, and now that he’d changed he couldn’t help but wonder if any of these names belonged to folks like them. Not likely, but it was possibly.

Moving over to stand near Rory, he was just going to ask if they could take a loop around the Frank Sinatra and Ray Charles exhibits eventually when he spotted the worry on his face. ”What’s up?” he asked, curious if he was looking around because of some very werewolf type thing or something more mundane.
Rashid finished off the last of an apple he had saved from the ride and grimaced as he recounted the kids. There were definitely two unaccounted for. With a rumble, the big man turned around and waved off the others, I'm going back a couple exhibits, they might have gotten stuck staring at that star display...thing. He didn't want to look like he was completely out of his element with all of these intense learning opportunities, so he jogged off to the earlier displays before anyone else could say anything.
At the next exhibit they funneled the kids in and one of the chaperones watched the exit to keep the group together (and entertained) while the other adults spread out to look for the missing two.

"15 minutes to find them, then I guess we've got to get something announced on the PA"

Alric8335 rolls 4d10m8 = 3 ( (10 7 2 10 6 9 → 3 success(es) against 8) ) #looking for the kids
All is well that ends well.

The two were found back in a dark corner where they had decided to play kissy face. Rory was more pissed off that they would waste their time with that when there was still more of the musesum to see, but that was just semantics. They were returned to the fold. Kids have to be more careful. He thought: If something was hunting them they would have been lunch... he tried to dismiss the thought.
