Pack Hierarchy and brief info and stuff.
Alpha: Andrew Langley
The Alpha is the leader and founder of the pack. It is his responsibility to provide structure and stability by making himself the emotional center of the group and helping pack members to form close bonds with him and with one another. The majority of important decisions are made by the Alpha, who takes the lead in protecting the pack's welfare and promoting growth for both the pack and its individual members. The Alpha's word is law. When it comes to issues involving the pack, his word is final and not to be questioned.
Andrew is new to pack life. Rather than this fact being a weakness, it allows him better insight when assisting other wolves who have been loners. He is better suited than most others to understand what it's like to live alone, outside of a pack, and make the transition for wolves struggling with pack life easier.
Alpha's Mate: William F. Baker
The Alpha's mate is like any other spouse. He or she shares the Alpha's life, joy, pain and responsibility. As such, the Alpha's mate is held in much the same regard as the pack's leader. While the person holding this position is not the Alpha, and sometimes not even the beta of the pack, being an Alpha's mate demands the utmost respect. It is not an easy job to live with an Alpha, and even more difficult to also feel the weight of an entire pack on one's shoulders.
Being a fox shifter, Billy is not as attuned to pack dynamics as werewolves would be. Still, he more than does his part. Billy's place is at Andrew's side as the Alpha's main source of support, a heavy burden in of itself. While not a wolf, he is pack and there to help. He doubles as pack dad and medic. He is there to lend an ear, hand or whatever else is needed,. He is also there to stitch wounds and provide comfort. Billy is just like his mate—available, kind, and there to help attend to the pack's needs.
Beta: Damian Hillard
The pack’s beta is second in command and takes orders only from the Alpha. In many cases, the beta has alpha potential he or she chooses to leave unexplored. It is a fact that can make alphas and betas working side by side a perfect combination and create a greater understanding between them. The beta performs many of the same duties as the Alpha, upholding the same values and taking on the same responsibilities. This does provide the beta with a level authority no other pack member has. When the Alpha is not around, the beta is there to take charge in his or her stead.
Damian is a lifelong friend of Andrew’s. Despite being a newly turned wolf, he exercises a manner of control that keeps his head clear at almost all times. Displaying alpha traits himself, Damian had to make a conscious to serve a pack lead by another alpha. His loyalty to Andrew is paramount, so his devotion to the pack comes without question or regret. To him, the pack is family, and he looks after his own.
Third
This person is the third in line, or ‘gamma,’ in a manner of speaking. While this position lacks the authority of the alpha or beta roles, it is one of trust. The pack’s third would work closely with the beta in organizing issues of security, stability, and potential unrest at the Alpha’s command. This is a role meant for grooming. For instance, if something was to happen to the Alpha and the beta had to take his place or the beta was removed or taken from the pack, the third would be next in line for the beta spot.
Sentinels
These individuals are the ‘deltas’ of the group. They are the enforcers, guardians and, when/if necessary, hunters and trackers of the pack. Sentinels act under the guidance of the Alpha and the beta. Their job is pack safety. From security details and patrolling the territory to monitoring the behaviors and actions of the pack, they are the muscle of the bunch. Much like law enforcement, they are tasked with keeping order and maintaining safety measures. They protect their pack from all dangers—those both outside and within. (more)
Salutaries
This rank is more honorary than anything else. It’s for the healers, craftsmen, and even mother hen types. The individuals here take on a specific trade or role that can be a typical paying job but involve skills that are especially beneficial to the pack. These are individuals other pack members would recognize and hold in higher regard for their contributions. Doctors, nurses and those with medical knowledge can treat the sick or injured or help prevent such things. Cooks can provide food to those members of the pack that are not diligent in the kitchen. Someone that would provide daycare services for children of pack members would also fall under this purview. The possibilities here are endless. (more)
Mundanes
All members of the pack that do not fall under one of the above categories is considered a mundane. Here you will find general subordinates, apprentices to trades, omegas that have not yet risen in the ranks, children, and new members still looking for their place. They help where needed, whenever needed, but do not necessarily hold a specific station. This could be because they have lacked the time to find their niche or simply choose to remain in a place where they can experience little bits of all areas within the pack. (more)
