The port of Aldriston is abuzz with a fantastic story making it’s rounds through the public houses and inns. It is said that Captain Heather Wallford’s ship the ‘Frontier’ was blown south of their lane by a storm lasting a week. On the sixth night their sea anchor’s line snapped putting them at the mercy of the winds. Sailors toiled night and day in shifts before the hull was struck below the water-line under the shaded blanket of black clouds.
The quartermaster blew his horn to alert the crew and they took to the lifeboats only to spot a light coming towards them across the water. A dreadlocked lion in only a loincloth was speeding his canoe out to the wreck and led the beleaguered sailors to shore through the reef the Frontier now rested upon. Upon pulling the lifeboats into the trees they were shown to an empty town of huts made from wood or grass and told that they could stay the night. In the morning the lion met with Wallford and her officers, arranging for her furres to be fed and cared for offering payment for wood from the island to repair her ship. The lion summoned his three sons to help and took some supplies then arranged for safe passage for them to the mainland. The lion’s mate a cheetah femme asked her kits be taken to a University and assisted in finding lodgings, Heather found this a small price for help to return to the sea then home. The sailors were fed local fish, fruits and game, surprised to know the few residents spoke common as well as another language. The story must be true because over at the Gryffe’s Temperment there are indeed three hybrid Leonine/Cheetah ‘savages’ leaning on their spears though speaking understandable common. Captain Wallford is planning a return voyage and there is still space left on the ship, who knows what might be on this ‘new’ spit of land in the ocean.
