Elves (n) – beings with magical powers connected to nature; aggressive in warfare
Elves haven’t changed in the past millennia… only expanded.
Elves now include leprechauns, dwarves, wood elves, nympfs, and pixies
The leprechauns are Irish beings that never go past the height of 4’0”. They tend to be rich paupers in the craft of making tools. They tend to dress in earthy colours of brown, tan, gold, green, and black. The connection of rainbows to a pot of gold at the end comes from the fact that leprechauns live in an area with light refracts through water and cause many rainbows at once. The leprechauns do protect a rather large stash of gold- untouched by them and others. Not quite gold coins… but the product to make them.
Dwarves are just as short as the leprechauns but broader. They are very well trained in battle and make the weapons used in it. Their dress is the same as the leprechauns with a lot of armor worn by both the men and women. The dwarves tend to live in smaller communities scattered throughout an area. The image that the men have long beards is true most of the time- though young royals tend to stay clean shaven before they succeed the throne. Both the men and women are muscular in build and fight equally as hard in battle.
Wood elves are the stereotypical elf image everyone gets- pointed ears, angelic bodies with angelic features, and extreme knowledge. The wood elves tend to live by water and wear lighter fabrics in light colours of yellow, white, silver, pink, and sky blue. The metal they wear is mostly silver and reinforced with thin titanium. The warfare they are trained in most is archery and sword to sword combat. Though they are strong in militia, they are mostly thinkers and tend to be the wisest of the elves.
Pixies are the smallest of the elf species. They only grow to 1-2 feet tall but can give themselves a human form of, at most, 5 feet tall. Pixies are rather curious and chaotic creatures that are the ones who gave the fey a bad reputation by going into peoples’ houses and stealing. They are much like the wood elves in their warfare training- archery and swords- but their sleuth skills are by far the most advanced. Pixies are often hired as spies by other species in wars and paid well for their help- however, pixies are also known to be the worst traitors.
All of the elven community is ruled by a wood elf King & Queen.
Nympfs ( or Nymphs) & Dryads have been added to the elven category due to the Wood Nympfs being so closely related to the Wood Elves.
Nympfs & Dryads live in large hallowed out trees and create their cities high in the treetops- traveling from tree to tree on rope bridges. They are much like wood elves in their military training and fighting skills.
Nymphs & Dryads are seen as a type of fey/elf of a specific element.
Nymphs or Dryads are faeries that thrive off of one element in their season in particular and can be seen as members of both the Fey species and Wood Elves. Water, fire, air, and earth are the elements they latch on to. They are mostly seen as summer fey but water and air can also exist in the winter fey.
Water nympfs/dryads live in large communities along the banks of larger water ways (rivers, lakes, seas/oceans). Some of their city is above water while most of it is underwater. The water nympfs are light blue skinned with dark blue- sometimes purple- markings that differ from each person (much like a fingerprint). They have webbed hands and feet and fins on their elbows and calves- there ears are even fin-like. They wear all sorts of colours and generally have blue or purple eyes with various hair colours- reflecting the rainbow found in the reefs of the ocean even if they live in fresh water communities. They can roughly shrink to about 6-8 inches tall in their true form but can jump to normal human heights any other time. Their fighting tactics is mostly old military style of calvary and sword dueling.
Air & Earth(Wood) nympfs/dryads live together deep within forests. They tend to be tan or tinted greenish with the same kind of markings that water nympfs have. Their ears are long and heavily pierced with yellow, orange, green or brown eyes. They wear a variety of colours and share the same height and fighting tactics as the water nympfs/dryads.
Fire nympfs/dryads are rare. They are mostly summoned creatures or an air nympf/dryad that has developed a skill over fire. They have yellow or orange eyes with heavier markings over their tan bodies but keep the same height and fighting tactics.
The Elves- all species- look towards the King & Queen who are nearly always Wood Elves and tend to be the tallest of all the elves. The Royalty of the Elven Community is mostly distinguished by their head-dresses and ears. The ears have typically 4 piercings on each or more while the head-dresses resemble the following:

The royal children tend to be fierce warriors and intellectuals while their parents tend to elven politics. The only time the King will participate in war is when near the entire elven species is on the battlefield.
All other elves wear a pendent that specifies their allegiance to the Elven Royal Family:
