Much like the other bird demon clans, Kai hates the other two clans with a burning passion, though he's not as against humans. As opposed to what his elemental ability would suggest, Kai is a kind and warmhearted individual. Despite the kind heart, he is not above getting his hands dirty to get his way. In battle, he prefers to get it done and over with, hating having to prolong a battle longer than necessary. He is capable of controlling and using ice in combat. He has rather balanced abilities all round. He isn't especially fast, strong, or durable, but he isn't weak in those categories either. His ice abilities are especially dangerous.
Born just a century before the Avian War, Kai was a cheerful young bird with a bright future. He was born to a family of miners, and because of this family, he because skillful in that trade and even began learning how to craft jewelry, forge weapons and armor, and produce various kinds of items with what he mines. He was raised alongside his sister Eliza. Kai was always very protective of his sister, claiming she was what motivated him to do what he did. The two shared a bond that transcends even time and space, being inseparable from one another.
Unfortunately, that bond has been tested thanks to the war. Once the war was called up, they were separated. Kai was selected as the leader of the commanding squadron as the Icerian armies while Eliza was sent elsewhere.
Kai had earned a reputation for being a dangerous fighter, using his ice and a pair of war picks, he could easily and effortlessly kill many opponents, however his merciful nature often made him easy to take advantage of. He often weakened opponents allowed his allies. Despite this merciful nature, he was not to be double crossed. He killed and fought so often, that it practically became second nature to him.
After the war was good and done, Kai fled to a small cabin in woods of a village far from his homeland. He fled to forget about what he had fought in, though he severely misses his sister, he wishes to one day meet with her again.
During his life in the woods, he came across a peculiar girl seemingly wandering aimlessly throughout the woods. Curious and a bit suspicious of the girl, Kai approached her. Upon realizing she meant no harm and was simply dazed and lost, he took her in and helped her figure out where she was.
Listening to her story, the two began to live together
Aivia is a large island just off the eastern coast of Betelgeuse. It is notable for being home to the three bird demon tribes. Iceria, the home to the Icebirds; Flareria, the home of the Firebirds; and Thunderia, the home of the Thunderbirds. Each tribe of birds have unique abilities, which include being able to control ice, fire, and lightning respectively.
Iceria: The largest territory among the three bird tribes. It is a snowy, barren wasteland that thrives in hunting, fishing, and mining based industries. The capital of the territory is near the western edge of the mountains.
Flareria: The smallest, but most populated of the three territories. It has a generally pretty mild climate and the terrain is mostly flat. It thrives upon farming and fishing industries. Its capital was built near its western border.
Thunderia: This territory is notable for its highly variable terrain and a highly variable climate. It runs on many different industries, but the mining is strongest. The capital lies near the northern parts of the territory, just a short distance from its border.
Four centuries prior to the present, there lived three bird tribes throughout the world. Each had territorial claims among various areas of the world. Each clan has always had a rather deep hatred towards the others for reasons unknown and because of this unnecessary hatred, tensions between the tribes were high and those tensions eventually snapped, escalating in several skirmishes and eventually a full blown war. This war raged through all corners of the world between the three tribes. The war extended into parts of the Great Genocide and is believed to have been a catalyst for the genocide. The obscene number of human casualties caused by the war created a spark in the human's detest for the inhuman creatures that roamed the planet. However, that story isn't why we're here.
This war lasted for nearly two full centuries, only ending after the Iceria chief proposed a peace treaty, seeing as the war was benefiting no one. The humans began to push the birds back towards a single island as vengeance for the war. Seeing they deserved it, the birds dutifully went where they were sent too. The island was divided by three rivers, each tribe getting one portion of the island. The Icebirds took the western edge, the Firebirds took the central portion, and the Thunderbirds took the eastern portion. While the tribes are mostly at peace now, tensions are still high and war looms over them once again. Currently, the three chiefs are begrudgingly working together to prevent it.
