Roy is a relatively tall and bulky man that completely dwarfs his wife and children in comparison. His hair is long, golden blonde, reaching down to the base of his neck. It is generally worn loosely and kept clean, though he'll occasionally wear it in a loose ponytail. His eyes are a dark black color, they generally appear calm, cool, and focused. Whenever he isn't in battle, his outfit consists of a long, dark violet cloak with magenta highlights. The cloak reaches down to just above his ankles; underneath the cloak is striped, cream colored shirt along with a pair of cream colored slacks. He wears a few belts to keep his extravagant outfit in place. He often carries an Elixir with him just in case him or his allies need it, regardless of whether or not he's in battle.

Roy is a kindhearted, quirky man that's well known for his calm and collected state of mind. He prefers to let his actions speak for him. He has a knack for strategy and can easily plan around many opponents and can go from there. He is well known for his poor sense of humor, being incapable of understanding even the most simple of jokes unless someone explains it to him, and even then, it may just slide right past him. He is a very intelligent person that loves to study whatever he can get his hands on. He loves to read all kinds of books, whether they're old historical texts or humorous fairy tales. He adores his wife above everything else and if he isn't busy or in battle, he can frequently be seen showering her in affection. He loves his daughters dearly, both the ones from the present time and the ones that had come from the future. He can frequently be seen with them whenever he isn't with his wife. He shares close bonds with many of the Shepherds, but his relationships with Chrom, Lissa, Gaius, Lon'qu, Sully, and Say'ri are by far the most powerful.

Do not read if you wish not to be spoiled! Much of this biography contains story elements and key parts of Fire Emblem Awakening's plot. You have been warned.

Much of the quirky tactician's past is shrouded in mystery, only a few things are clear. He is the son of the Grimleal Leader, Validar and he is the vessel of the Fell Dragon's heart. Roy's life had begun when {Prince Chrom and Princess Lissa had found him unconscious and sprawled out in an unmarked field miles from the Ylisstol, the capital of Ylisse. Upon waking up, Roy was dazed and confused, unsure of who woke him up, unsure of where he was, he wasn't even sure of who he was, but soon after waking up, it seemed he was familiar with Chrom at least. This brought some major suspicion from the stern knight traveling with the two royals, his overprotective nature, he was unable to believe that this odd stranger was able to recognize Chrom, but be completely unaware of their own name. Thanks to Lissa and Chrom, the amnesiac was able to join them on their way back to the capital city, though the knight, Frederick had kept a very close eye on the man.

Unfortunately, before they could move on to Ylisstol, they had come across a small village being ransacked by a group of bandits, before they could reach their destination, they would need to get rid of the brigands plaguing the village. Thanks to Chrom's skill with his legendary sword, Lissa's staves, Frederick's hard hitting assault, along with Roy's swordsmanship and magic, they were able to take out the brigands with little trouble. Roy's willingness to sacrifice himself for the Ylissean people was enough to win Chrom's heart over, despite Frederick's warnings, the prince had decided to make the mysterious tactician a new member of the Shepherds, Chrom's personal militia. This would prove to be beneficial for the group.

After the fiasco in the village was dealt with, they had begun their trek back to Ylisstol. For the most part, this trip was rather uneventful until one fateful night. Weak, but sudden earthquakes had plagued the group unexpectedly, causing even the ground itself to crack open, spewing bits of magma all around the small forest, fire and smoke invaded the night sky. Panicked, the group had unintentionally split up as they were making a run for it, Chrom and Lissa managed to stay close to each other while Roy and Frederick went elsewhere. Just mere minutes after they had begun fleeing from the scene, a strange portal had opened in the sky and from the portal, odd, dark bodies began dropping out of it. Their eyes glowed in a blood red color and they had a most evil aura to them, and without warning, they rushed at Lissa and Chrom.

Chrom was easily capable of killing the first one that rushed at them, but he quickly found out that not all of them were gonna be so easy to defeat. He grappled with the second one, effectively being in a deadlock with it. Soon, a third one found its way towards Lissa and if not for the impeccable timing from the enigmatic man that went by the same name as the Hero-King, she would've been killed, or at least severely injured. The man stepped in and had defended Lissa at the very last second, and thanks to his combined efforts with Chrom, they were able to do away with the creatures that were still alive. Eventually, they regrouped with Frederick and Roy, along with fellow Shepherd, Sully and the Duke of Rosanne, Virion. Due to their combined efforts, they were able to take out what Chrom had dubbed as the Risen. Thankfully, the horror they had witness that night hadn't impacted Ylisstol.

For the next few days, Chrom and Frederick were busy discussing this new threat with the Exalt of Ylisse and the elder sister of Chrom and Lissa, Emmeryn, the younger princess had taken Roy to meet with the fellow Shepherds in the garrison. He had busied himself with making friends with his newfound allies and immediately found himself at home with them, becoming especially close with Lissa, Sully, and Vaike. After this, a number of events had happened to the group and a number of allies had joined up with the Shepherds, including that of Feroxi warrior, Lon'qu and former thief, Gaius, whom had become close allies to Roy in the future. After an attempt on the Exalt's life and the kidnapping of Maribelle, the daughter of the Duke of Themis, Chrom decided it was time to bring an end to the war with Plegia with hopes of killing the Mad King Gangrel and be done with the war once for and all.

Not long after crossing the border, they were met with a group known as the Grimleal, the fatalistic cult that fanatically awaits for the revival of the Fell Dragon. However, this wasn't the most significant for Roy that day, it wasn't anywhere close to it. It was during this little quarrel that he had met with his future wife, Nowi. Thanks to a chance encounter on the battlefield with Roy rescuing Nowi from what would've been a deadly magic strike and vice versa, the two of them had managed to strike up a friendship with one another. Following the event, the two of them could frequently be seen doing just about everything together, they ate together, fought together, and even played together. They were rarely seen apart, and after the Exalt's untimely suicide, they helped each other to remain strong, and did what they could to keep Chrom and Lissa strong.

Just a few weeks later, the war with Plegia had finally come to a close after Chrom had managed to put an end to the Mad King. Roy had confessed to being in love with Nowi, and thankfully, she had returned the feelings. Following the end of the war, the two of them had moved into a small house near the Ylissean castle, beginning to live a happy and love filled life as they recovered from the horrors of war. Less than a year after the war had ended, the two had tied the knot and had decided it was time to marry one another, this sparked the next chapter of their lives. Roy lived and breathed for Nowi, while the manakete aspired to keep him smiling as often as she could. Just weeks later, Nowi had fallen pregnant with Roy's children, a pair of twins who would be known as Morgan and Nah. The two girls brought the new parents even more happiness, unfortunately this newfound joy would be short lived.

Just weeks after they were born, they would have to leave their home and leave their daughters with the very nanny that was taking care of Lucina and Cynthia, the children of Chrom and Sumia. According to reigning Khan Flavia, their western neighbors of Valm had launched warships towards Regna Ferox, dragging Ylisse and the Shepherds into yet another war, one that would prove to be far more difficult than the one that preceded it. Surprisingly, they had managed to get around Valm's elite naval force, but upon arriving on the Valmese shores, they had to deal with an even bigger threat, the elite cavalry awaiting them. After a long and hard fight, they had defeated the forces and had even befriended a member of the resistance, a militia fighting against Valm's dominion over the continent. Say'ri would become one of Roy's closest friends, the two of them sharing similar goals and both had a healthy curiosity regarding each other's culture.

Soon after the event, they had returned to Ylisse and Regna Ferox to boost morale and recruit new troops to aid in their cause, though this had brought even more surprises for the Shepherds, especially for Roy and Nowi. They had entered a place that was said to be coursing with Naga's power, curious and believing that it would help them in the battle against Valm, they investigated it. They found it was teeming with Risen, while Nowi and Roy had unexpectedly encountered their daughter... only, this Morgan was fifteen years old. Like Lucina, she had also come from the future, though whether or not she came from the same future was unclear. Understandably, all three were surprised to see that the child they left in Ylisse was in this sacred place, but they had no qualms, they took her in and showered her with much love and affection. Just days later, they had encountered yet another child from the future, this time it was their other child, Nah; Morgan's twin sister. Like Morgan, she was also fifteen years old, but unlike her sister, Nah was far more aware of her situation. She was taken into the family and was given the love she never received in the future.

Over the course of the next year, they had fought off groups of the Valmese soldiers, met with Lady Tiki, learned more of the Fire Emblem, and had even encountered Say'ri's elder brother, the king of Chon'sin, Yen'fay. This encounter led to a hectic battle between the Shepherds and Yen'fay's forces at the Demon's Ingle, this battle eventually led to the death of Yen'fay. After the battle, the Shepherds marched towards the capital and brought the fight directly to Walhart himself, but not before the former Khan of Regna Ferox, Basilio was killed after facing the Conqueror. This final battle with the Valmese was long and hard, but ended once Walhart had fallen. After the war in Valm was over, the Shepherds had returned to Ylisse to rest and reflect over the war, unfortunately, they had little time for that. The threat of the Grimleal was just too much to ignore, prompting them to go against King Validar of Plegia and his followers.

Soon after their arrival in Plegia, it was clear that the king had other plans in store for them, including taking the Fire Emblem from Chrom and regaining Roy's loyalty, after all, the tactician was Validar's son, so it seemed natural for him to want to obey his father, but all of this would be a difficult task for both parties. Stealing the Emblem would become much easier upon Validar revealing that Roy was nothing more than a vessel for Grima, and his cursed blood made it easier for Validar to take control of his son. This caused Roy to attack and nearly kill Chrom, steal the Emblem, and unintentionally help the Grimleal bring the Fell Dragon back to the world. Validar's plan would've worked if weren't for the fact that he was oblivious to Roy's plan. Thanks to the unexpected arrival of Basilio, who was thought to be dead, Validar was caught off guard and was quickly attacked by Roy, while Chrom was more or less okay. This would result in a huge battle that would lead to Grima's revival and eventually, the deaths of Validar and his partner, Aversa.

Despite all of their efforts, including the death of Validar, Aversa, and successfully completing the Awakening ritual, it was not enough to prevent Grima's revival. This is where things began to get hectic once again, this battle would determine the fate of the world. If the Shepherds failed to defeat the Fell Dragon, the world as they knew it would come to an end, but if they were successful, the world would be at peace. However, the latter came at a price, if Chrom dealt the finishing blow, Grima would merely be put to sleep once again, but if Roy dealt the finished blow, the Fell Dragon would be destroyed for good... and Roy along with him. However, there was a very slim chance that Roy would survive if his ties to the world was strong enough.

A long and painful battle had taken place on the back of the Fell Dragon, with each side coming down to the brink of defeat. However, thanks to a quick flurry of attacks from Roy and Nowi, Grima had become weakened enough for one last attack to finish off the beast. Now, Roy was faced with one last decision; either he could choose to be a coward and have Chrom deal the finish blow and let the Fell Dragon's vengeance rain down on future generations, likely his own wife and daughters, or he could finish off Grima himself and potentially miss out watching his children grow up. He was a coward and chose the former option, refusing to leave his family behind in what could possibly lead to his own demise.

Following Grima's defeat, Roy and Nowi had returned to their home in Ylisse and were reunited with their infants, while the future Morgan and Nah had moved in with them, refusing to be without their parents for a second time. Neither of them argued against this, but simply gave their infants a new nickname to differentiate the two. Now, they live happily together and occasionally carry out missions with Chrom and the other Shepherds. Currently, Roy is looking into the possibility of extending his lifespan in order to spend more time with wife and daughters while Nowi is doing what she does best, making people laugh and smile in an attempt to mend the scars of war that the recent battle had left behind.
