Log.
Caliste sat atop her bar stool perched like a pidgeon. Her entire posture was rigid, bound with nerves and keeping her back straight as an arrow could be. Glamoured green eyes stared at the ragtag assortment of glasses behind the bar while a dainty hand swept through inky curls of soft hair. She disliked being in hell, even if her blood had changed and she was now one of it's denizens. Caliste much preferred the surface world, but she felt at most times, even the ruins were too good for her now that she was like this. A sigh escaped painted, dark red lips and she continued to sit so very straight. Focus shifting to her full glass of rum when the barkeep spoke to her. "You gonna drink that pirate juice or eye fuck it all night, Kayla?" She didn't part her lips to speak, or even to correct the one eyed fellow about her name, only shrugged and looked into the glass' amber contents. Cali, this is not how people found answers while drinking. She would raise it to him hesitantly and smile. Caliste took a very small sip of it's contents and tried not to cough. Hey, she wasn't a drinker by any means. But with the events of late...one might be vastly tempted to opt for a head change. Demonic attributes hidden away were more of a stylized choice for her own comfort, it seemed that just about everyone could smell the infernal on her no matter what she tried to hide it. So even in Hell, she hid. Boot covered feet idly kicked gentle at the air where they did not touch the ground, her outfit an ironic statement considering the white plumage delicately hand painted against the back of it. She thought it was funny, atleast! "There...I'll be back, I gotta check myself for chest hair...That was strong." She laughed softly at her own joke, cupping away the noise into the pale palm of her free hand. Oh, Cali...
Alpheus had no need or desire to walk the streets of hell.. But her job proved other wise. Raiding a demon compound often lead to the holy canine sending those wayward souls back to the fire pits they crawled from and sometimes she ended up getting dragged down. It was one of those kind of days. After severing a lesser demons head from its body she stood and sighed," Fuck.." Her lovely whip was curled and placed back on her hip before she walked into what seemed to be a bar; Thank god it was pretty much dead. Still the hound couldn't help but feel uncomfortable, her wings nestled right up against her back as her hands dusted over her leather pants. To be honest she just wanted to get back to the surface but a beer was needed first. Oddly enough she had a feeling that she wasn't going to be given a beer down here.
Caliste rubbed at a warm cheek, god there was a lot of rum in the glass. But, feet continued to dangle idly at her sides. Then the door opened. And though being a new demon, she didn't quite understand it, there was.... this smell... and much in the way that humans are repulsed by the scent of death and rot because of an evolutionary instinct to avoid it...Caliste was feeling that because an ethereal had walked in. Truly, Allie probably smelled just lovely. But, It was to Cali, something like way too much perfume, or glade...or too many candles. A good scent could often times be too good. But, being the polite creature she was, Cali didn't say anything. And even if the bar was dead, it's very few barflies and patrons scrutinizing the woman with their eyes, Caliste didn't. She decided a long time ago, that she made her own decisions about people. Pack mentality is a good way to miss out on some awesome things. Being an outsider herself..she strived to make sure no one else felt this way. Caliste frowned when she noted the flat wings and the discomfort in the other. "You can sit on over with me." She said quietly, her accented voice a very quiet noise almost afraid to exist. Oh how strange it was, to want to be kind..but to be afraid of social interractions. "Can I have a cup?" The bartender held back a chortle at the young demoness and she frowned.
Alpheus could easily be described as one of the more friendlier people on the surface but down here she was easily hated. It was safe to say that she had brought a good few of these demons around back down to hell. The grimaces and glares she got didn't exactly phase her what made the hound nervous was the factt hat she was alone.. In hell.. That was a lose lose scenario if anything was to happen; Not to mention Daimon would be PISSED. A quite little table in the back was where she was going to sit until the tiny demon lady spoke up. Allie rose a brow and walked over to her," That is rather nice of you to offer. Not many are nice to my kind." There was a reason why there was basically only two resurrection hounds left. When the bartender laughed the holy creature turned her head to look over at them," Laughing isn't nice... It was a simple question and there was nothing comedic about it." Her tone was dead serious but oddly still sweet. Allie couldn't be serious to save her life really. Alpheus turned her attention back to the tiny demon lady again," I'm Allie." That sweet smile never fell from her lips. Shit if Daimon could befriend a hellhound why couldn't Allie make friends with a demon? <<
Caliste watched her come over, and even if her body was spewing fight or flight signals to her brain, Caliste ignored them. "Not many are nice at all." She smiled, and though she stole glances at the blonde lady, she didn't look her in the eye, or even directly at her. How awkward she was, this tiny demon. Her offer for a cup was refused and she wilted a bit, only to have Allie stand up for her. "Noyoudon'thavetodothat!" She mumbled. "It's okay, really..." Caliste gave a nod, those springy curls of ebony giving a bounce when she did so. The demon behind the bar only scoffed, and went to work at the other end of the bar. Looking both ways, Caliste leaned over the bar and grabbed up that rocks glass she'd wanted like a sneaky little ninja. No one seemed to even twitch when she moved. Sometimes, meek paid off. Sliding back into her seat, then hopping down with those ridiculous boots giving a thud, she'd look up once Allie spoke again. Caliste's brow creased. Someone was talking to her? Why? "Caliste..Layton." Head tilted, a smile pulling itsself vividly across deep crimson lips when she gave a nod to punctuate her name as if assuring herself that yes, she was still that person. Grabbing up her own glass, she'd walk off toward that little booth, nodding in it's direction so that maybe Allie would follow. Cali had seen holy ones be turned away down here before when it came to drinks, and that shit always got way ugly. Wiggling into the booth, she'd carefully pour exactly half her drink in the new glass and place it at the side opposite herself for Allie. Sharing the only thing she had because someone wasn't going to be allowed to have any. "It's rum, and I am cootieless...not that I have even drank any. They won't give you a drink because you smell like dryer sheets." She had to laugh, demon jokes. "But I will share. You look thirsty."
Alpheus always kept her cool even in dire situations or at least she tried to, it made for more logical reactions. Her smile turned into a fully fledge grin as her name was given," It's a delight to meet you Caliste, Not everyday do I get to meet a friendly demon." Even if most holy beings found them hard to be nice in general. Allie always gave the benefit of the doubt. The hound had run ins with a few of the people here including the bartender which is why they probably werent serving her besides the obvious reason. As Cali did her ninja sneak skills Allie tried to keep from laughing then followed the tiny terror over to the booth where she slid in with grace. One leg crossed over the other," once again this is rather nice of you. Let me repay you sometime." The comment about dryer sheets had her laughing though, that was a good one! " Ha! I'd rather smell like dryer sheets than ash and sulfur.." Alpheus took a sip of the drink once it was poured," Mmm.. yes thank you.. Rum is good." Allie wasn't much a drinker either.. A beer or wine here and there but hardly ever did she have hard liquor. " I know that the bartender hates me.. I've killed their human hosts and dragged them back to hell a good few times now.." <<
Caliste froze a little when referred to as a friendly demon. Well, duh, Caliste. If you can smell her, she can smell you. Silly rookie. But, she smiled, albeit with a nervous type of hesitation which would surely punctuate her shyness on the subject. "Yeah.." Hand moved to rub at the back of her neck just slightly, eyes diverting to the wall before that quick reaction had her thankful to be distracted by procuration of a glass for Allie. "Nice to meet you too." She said, beaming when popping back up from her daring glass heist! Teeth were wide and sterling, her smile taking up the latter half of her face in a rare display of happiness before her lips swallowed up the gleaming white into obscurity once more. "Nah, you don't have to pay me back. I'd just be wasting it either way I suppose." But she wouldn't push that, she'd only smile, and nod. "I mean, sure." There ya go, kid. Caliste laughed when Allie laughed, hiding that sound once more in the securty of her palm as if it might be shameful for her to actually feel..happy. "You're welcome, I didn't know what to get so this is what they gave me for bein' indecisive." She would raise black clad shoulders in a shrug and take a long draw from the glass. Much more comfortable now that she had someone else there with her. Even if they were on opposite teams. A wince, when Allie spoke about her job, but otherwise the demoness tried hard not to showcase her feelings on it. "You don't get to pick your job, why would I fault you for it? Lucky them to be able to leave their hosts." She shook her head, two fingers tapping her temple. "All host." She referred to her own situation, in which the vessel and demon become one permanently, death of one is death of both. The mentality left behind was all that belonging to the human host. "I didn't get to pick either, and you're being nice to me so I can't very well be a dick." Caliste scoffed at herself. "That'd make me a hypocrite! Who ever heard of a hypocrite in hell?" .Another sip was taken, and she seemed to loosen up just enough to be sociable. "Oh right, only everydamnbody." Her accent was the loveliest twang of bluegrass, just enough to make her seem nonthreatening. Something about those kinds of accents inspired warmth and relaxation in people. She'd read that once in a book, probably. But this accent was her own. "Hey now!" She said, feigning offense about sulfur. "Nah, you're totally right, Lady."
Alpheus had the ability to tell what anyone was whether they were human, demon, angel, vampire, zombie.. and all of the above.. It was a nice trick to have especially when she was in a less than favorable place; but for now she was enjoying her current company. The little demon was different from the rest not to mention that she didn't try to kill her right then and there like most would. Another sip was taken from the glass, Mmmm she was going to need to get some of this stuff once she was back on earths surface. " Being indecisive sucks but I know the feeling all too well!" She'd chuckle playfuly then take another sip. " Nope.. I was born into this job.. actually I was kind of bred for this job specifically." It sounded weird but it was true. Allie was created for this very reason, to fight the minions of hell and keep the world balanced. With a soft sigh the girl leaned back into the booth and simply smiled more. Alpheus's mind was clicking like clock work as she tried to figure out a way to repay the mini demon.. Hmm.. OOOH LIGHTBULB! The hound instantly lit up and she downed the rest of her rum quickly," I can't stay here long.." Here being Hell.." I have to get back to the surface sooner rather than later.. Have you been up there? I can take you to the surface." Now that was a fucking offer since it was the complete opposite of what she was supposed to do. So far Allie was liking this lady she seemed easy to talk to and get along with and so far she wasnt trying to cause any trouble. " Plus the scenery is sooooo much nicer than here.."
Caliste had to give a giggle when Allie asked if she'd been to the surface. While some were souls bound here for punishments, for jobs, or creatures bred here for evil. Caliste had a surface job. But, her portal skills were still on the shit end of the stick, and her veil's floor had holes which sometimes, unfortunately sent her to hell unless she could find a dreamer to latch herself to, a way home. Someday, she'd be able to peck her way out of here with the same ease a beak could tear through wet paper. But for now, she could use all the help she could get. "Ugh! Yes!" Head tilted back and she sighed in a grumbly sort of delight that denoted she might have been waiting awhile to hitch a ride."I've been, and I kinda like it better, considering that's where my house and my stuff is. I should probably go feed my guinea pig." Where did you get a...dammit, Caliste. She paused, and realized that..maybe telling a creature like this about being on the surface...could be dangerous. "I'm kidding." Caliste laughed. Her words flowed with a truth to them, a warmth that denoted she believed everything she herself was saying. Even if it had just been the word 'kidding'. Sly. "He's been dead for a hot minute or maybe he ran away..OOH! NO!" She slapped both of her knees. "Nuhnuhno! Maybe he mutated and now I can ride around on his back." ...She was an imaginitive thing. How could someone so goofy and fun possibly be a demon? "But yes, I would like an awful whole lot to hitch a ride with you." Of course someone like her didn't fit or belong here, she wasn't tough enough to deal with any aspect of this place when alone. But, being a ninja...was useful. She was grateful, and that much reflected in her big, green eyes like a spark of daylight. "Shall we?"
Alpheus's grin grew and stretched from ear to ear when the demoness seemed more than happy at the offer to go back up. Allie then slid from the booth and stood, shoulders rolling slightly. Not gonna lie this was going to be a first for the hound to take someone out of hell that wasn't a holy being or a soul that got lost, this was an actual demon. Certainly she was going to get some backlash from this but who gave a fuck? Not her. " I'm going to need to carry you.." Literally since holy water and demons never mixed well at all. She'd wait until they left the bar and was out on the streets before she pulled out a bottle of holy water and made a cross while saying a few words in latin. The water would light up and without warning Allie would take hold of the tiny demon, her arms wrapping around her before stepping into the light. Her wings would unfold and in a single beat then went hurling into the sky like a shooting star. Alpheus closed her eyes as the light god so bright it was blinding but before they knew it they were on the surface and she was landing in the middle of town square where the small yet still working clock tower was. Her arms would unfold from the tiny demon and let her down," Welcome to the surface." She'd say with a chuckle.
Caliste blinked when Allie said that she needed to carry her. Caliste was a stranger to the concept of touch in more than a few capacities. Even handshakes made her uncomfortable. But, she really needed to feed Zigpig. So, she watched, and recoiled a bit at the scent of the holy water as it hit the ground. The spell itsself lored Caliste's baby fangs out of their magical hiding and prompted an unintentional grimace by her. "Sorry." Hand rushed to clap over her mouth. BAD DEMON. But just as she had done so, hound was scooping her up effortlessly. Soon they were off like a comet, blazing a trail of sparks and golddust that burned at the atmosphere in hell with small crackles and spitting from the molecules in the air that dare stand in their wake. And it was scary, usually her method of getting home was a simple step, or a dive. This..this was some serious legitimate craziness! Caliste buried her head in Allie's shoulder, the light burning only slightly in more than it's visual presence for her specifically. She didn't know this woman, but she hid there from the scorn of the ride. What if..what if what they say about holies is true and what if Allie was about to fuck her all up? Her mind immediately went to the worst case scenario every time anything happened to her. But before the demon could dare contemplate fidgeting in the grip Allie had on her lithe body, they landed on the surface. Feeling her feet touch the raggedy, seen-better-days cobble bricks, she breathed a sigh of relief. Even if her heart was beating a million miles a minute at the walls of her chest, begging almost to escape at how rapid the rate was. Shakey, just a bit, she'd smile and dust off her skirt. "Thank you." Eyes shifted to the sky, hand laying just above her browline so that she could squint up at the settling sun. Her lips parted slightly if only to expose those...kitten like fangs. She was sort of adorable. "I really should go and get my errands taken care of.." She said, suddenly feeling a bit of nervousness for being in Allie's company. Still, the small demon was trying her hardest not to be judgmental, she'd been shown nothing but kindness and strived to put that foremost at the front of her mind in terms of Allie. Did she make a friend? She'd made one last week and now another? How to be a person, by Caliste Layton. "I don't want to get you in trouble for hangin' out with me or nothing like that.." Her drawl tended to pepper words when she seemed the most unsure or nervous. "But you can.." She winced at her own awkwardness and wanted to give a frustrated sigh. "Hang out with me, I mean. If..when you're not busy." She nodded and smiled. "But, I have a severe lack of books goin' on and I need to go rustle some." Ahh, a scavenger of comforts. Smart girl. "Catch you around, miss lady." And with that, she looked at her watch. She waited, looked left, right, up..
exclaimed in discovery. "There she is." Staring off at something Allie couldn't see. Hand dug into her pocket and pulled out a bobby pin..dragging it through the air to create a tear into nowhere, the glow of dreamy purples and greens, along with low fog were barely visible through this crack. Yes, it did look like a Burtonesque landscape, but it was infact the realm of dreams. "Seeyah!" Gothyboots jumped into that rift, and even if only a glimpse of it was caught, it sealed indefinitely and swallowed the little demon up into obscurity. The air baring no scar from the tear in it's fabric. Damn.
Damn.
