What technology does CoS Have now?
Alright, so based on some suggestions and what people told me personally, there seems to be some confusion on what City of Souls actually has, being 20 years in the future after the war started. So, I would like to clear some things up to help you understand what’s happening! 😊
The war started in 2017 – so technology wasn’t ever really enhanced. However, due to the war, most people lost power, phones, etc.. However, this doesn’t mean there is no form of technology in the dream setting. Think Steampunk. People managed to make their own way in the world, creating machinery that’s based off of solar power, steam, oil, and things like that. So it is very possible for people to have electricity, play music, and things like that. As for phones, however, there’s no cellphone towers. But I’m not against there being walkie-talkies and things like that.
Weaponry – I’ve actually had a few people in the past ask about this. Some people wanted to know if their character could have made something “futuristic” with their weapons. Lasers, and things like that. The answer is YES. If your character has the brain of a master mind and found some way to make some crazy ass laser with scrap metal or something like that, go for it. Just be mindful of the rules when it comes to strong characters and relatively deadly weapons. The other opposing party you’re fighting with needs to agree with things that are considered “deadly hits.” Other than that, there are still guns, blades, swords, and whatever your little heart desires.
Vehicles/Cars – This one is tricky. Of course, more than likely the gas stations have run out of gas by now. But if your character has some crazy stash of gasoline hidden somewhere or found a car that still has gas in it and the keys, you could very well have a vehicle or motorcycle or whatever. Just remember, Earth is riddled with wild life now. There’s a lot of trees and roots in the road, vines and things like that. Not to mention, abandoned things in the middle of the road. So it might be hard to drive through the streets. But be my guest, if you want to say they have a vehicle.
TV – This would be an interesting concept. Unless you’re watching dvds or video tapes, there wouldn’t be much on TV. However, I do like the idea of possibly incorporating the steampunk stuff to allow a channel where someone is still broadcasting stuff. So, I guess you say there might be TV?
Who can enter in what portals
City Of Souls is known for the fact that the different realms bleed into each other. Portals to Hell, Heaven, Purgatory and Earth… However, there’s some restrictions for these places.
One of the biggest restrictions is Heaven. Heaven is still considered Holy, even though it was corrupted when demons rampaged through it. Here’s the tricky part. While there are SOME higher-tiered demons that can enter Heaven without instantly dying, it doesn’t mean it can’t weaken them. Weaker demons who aren’t high on the scale of command would die instantly when they set foot in Heaven. But here’s the thing… The more demons there are in Heaven, the more corrupted it gets. So, if a swarm of demons entered all at once and they were all a lower tier, there is a possibility of them living through their trespass onto Heaven’s grounds.
Humans; Human CANNOT enter Heaven unless they’re dead. If they’re a wandering soul, they can enter. But if they step through the portal, alive and in flesh, they will instantly die. The amount of Holy light that’s in Heaven is enough to be like an extreme dose of radiation, making them burn up and die. No, angels cannot protect that from happening to a human, no matter how strong they are.
Purgatory; Anyone can enter purgatory. However, most of the time, it’s not voluntary. They’re either expelled there, or they get sucked into one that opens up on Earth or Hell. The most common portal opens in Earth but there has been times when Hell has it’s own portal pop open. Getting OUT of purgatory is the tricky thing. While fighting off the monsters in Purgatory, you have to try and find out where and WHEN the next portal is opening, so you can get back to Earth/Hell. A lot of the times, when one portal closes, another one opens miles and miles away from the last one. So, you must be quick. Otherwise, you’re stuck for another several days until the next one opens.
Hell; Much like Heaven, there’s a restriction. A small restriction, but nothing too serious. Anything can enter Hell. However, when it comes to angels entering Hell, naturally, it begins to corrupt them. It won’t kill them, no. That is, unless some demon kills them. It does also weaken their abilities, too. Holy light cannot be summoned into Hell, so their abilities are highly restricted if most of them are holy-light based.

Just so I am following correctly: The war of the worlds began in 2017 and took 20 years to settle. So CoS takes place in 2037, yes?
