Across the Island the news spreads like wildfire before the storm. With the rain season coming to an end, most Caribou Coast natives were waiting for the metaphorical dam to burst, and it looks like it's coming just before the close. The forecast is a little grim for the Island; rain expected to start Sunday May 26th and continue on into the week, with no certain end date in sight. Residents will be able to voluntarily evacuate the Island via the ferry, though there may be a point when evacuation is no longer an option- so decide quickly! And keep your eyes on the sky.

Weather woman Lee Keesky was quoted to say, "We've seen these storms before. We're not seeing a lot of threat for thunder and lightning, but high winds and excessive amounts of rainfall are on our horizon. I urge everyone to consider the evacuation with caution and have plans in place if flooding occurs. Our levee system has held against many major storms in the past, but the system has also been undergoing maintenance. Stay safe out there and tune in over the next few days for full weather predictions and tracking!"

ooc note: this is an active environment plot, though as always with dream plots it is optional if you wish for this to effect your private roleplay experience. all community opens, however, will reflect the current state of the weather!
Sunday, May 26th Updates:

Sometime after noon: Rain begins to fall in the city. The sky itself isn't terribly grey, just some slight clouding it would seem. The breeze coming off of the ocean is warm and wet, carrying water particles with it and misting those walking along the boardwalk. Local news has promised up to the minute forecasts while the rain moves in. So far, it's just a drizzle. Nothing to worry about.. right?

Sometime after 2 PM: The sky seems to open up out of nowhere- suddenly that easy rainfall from earlier seems to be dumping buckets onto those who'd decided to walk down the street anyway. The waves on the beach are a little more aggressive. Is that perfect for surfing? Kinda depends on who you are.

Sometime after 4 PM: The rain finally seems to lighten up. It's not stopping, apparently, but the sky is a little brighter and Caribou Coast is back to experiencing a light misting. Water runs along streets and sidewalks looking for the closest drains. Be careful walking, cars are sending puddles cascading up into the sky!
Tuesday May 28th Update:

There's been a steady rain going since last night around six, and it seems like things are starting to get.. a little concerning. The docks are now under water, and the ferry has been halted and carefully anchored to avoid damage. The only way off of the Island now is via your own personal boat, raft, or floating painting. Stay safe. The boardwalk looks like it's about to be swallowed at any moment. Time to move inland!
Wednesday May 29th Update:

Breaking News: Reports are in that the boardwalk is now totally underwater. Waves crash against the storefronts, and it's creeping up past the buildings. For now it looks like the rain has slowed, but it has yet to stop. The beach is under mandatory evacuation orders. Please be aware that the tide along the boardwalk is not safe. Proceed with extreme caution. Designated refuge centers have been set up in the city, and residents who are affected can take shelter.
