Introduction
Lucky's friendly neighborhood bartender, "Benny," is that guy most people have an easy time getting along with. Regulars around the bar will openly tell you he's a regular Joe, just an amiable young man trying to make ends meet for his son but there is certainly more to it than that...
Once a small-time crook or grifter, Rueben once lead a life of crime traveling the country in the same beat-up RV that he calls home. Questionable morals, a penchant for justifying his own wrong-doings and a charismatic demeanor made for a perfect combination when it came to working over unsuspecting marks. It was the child he fathered some eleven years ago that has lead him to clean up his act and try and be there for his son now that he's been given permission to occupy the young boy's life. He's lead a complicated life and while he feels a bit tied down staying in one place these days, there is no questioning his devotion to righting his wrongs with his son.
This doesn't mean he's perfect, Benny doesn't have the best impulse control and he's pretty susceptible to temptation and he's been known to nab a wallet every now and then. If he's in a hard spot, it wouldn't necessarily be outside the realm of possibility that he'd wander off the path of an honest life, but he's certainly trying. He's only human after all...well sort of...
Rueben is a fox shifter, able to change his form at will into the form of a normal looking red fox. He isn't open about this and usually attempts to keep this part of himself...to himself, but it's certainly tricky in a town full of creepy crawlies and things that go bump in the night.

Preferences
I prefer in-client RP for the most part. For Rue's deeper connections and long-winded, on-going roleplays I will use Discord or RPR but for the most part, in-client is just easier for me to keep up on. I also tend to avoid canon characters and organizations, nothing personal, I just really prefer original content.

| Where everyboooody knooows your naaaaame... ahem. Lucky's Saloon is a dive bar located in Chinatown. Its a hole in the wall spot that's been there for a long, long time owned by Floyd Carson. They host small events sometimes, but for the most part, its just that sort of bar that only locals tend to go to and yes...where everybody knows your name. It's not flashy or austere but it boasts cheap drinks and a friendly staff. I'd be glad to have him interact with other characters based on this setting. |
Coworkers
| Rue definitely needs some coworkers. He can't be at the bar 24/7 and Floyd certainly isn't offering him much in the way of help tending the bar. I'd love for him to get to know some outgoing individuals who might work the crowd with him on a busy night or fill out the weekly schedule. |
Old Connections
| Even in his traveling days, Rue frequented the city quite a bit. With it's thriving criminal underbelly, he's had his fair share of jobs run through this place and spent some leisure time here as well. I'd be completely open to discussing how Rue might have interacted with your character in the past whether its friend, work affiliate or someone he screwed with in the past. There is a lot of territory to cover and I'm open to ideas. |
Trouble
| Some old misdeed come to bite him in the behind? Someone new trying to hire him for some less than legal work (small time only, he's not so great at complicated jobs), extortion, blackmail, the works. There is a whole lot of dirt that could be dug up on the wily fox and I'd totally be down to go over some thoughts and plots to make his life more complicated than it already is. This could also be misunderstandings due to his behavior. When it comes to the opposite sex, Rue is a shameless flirt...especially when tips are on the line. Maybe someone who takes it the wrong way and becomes upset when they learn he's had a girl all along. The more creative and inventive the idea, the better. |
Supes
| Rue is pretty open-minded about the supernatural world. He hasn't seen everything, but things rarely surprise him. I'm always open to him coming across other creatures, learning a bit about them. This could be a run in with another shifter on a nightly run in his fox form, someone that sniffs him out, or really anything. The only things he is really that skeptical about are ghosts and aliens, as he hasn't met either and they conflict with a few of his beliefs about the way the world works. I'd totally be willing to have someone challenge these ideas. |

I love filling plots! ...if it's within the realm of possibility for a character's personality and situation. If you have an idea you feel like Rue would be a good fit for, or you just want to plot something out, feel free to suggest it! I'm open to look at all of your ideas.

This is...a hilarious conspiracy theory that has evolved over time due to the dodgy way he handles questions regarding his past. He tends to feed into it these days with subtle jabs because he honestly finds it amusing.

This is a common misconception and one that is easily rectified if one happens to do even a minor bit of digging around. He even answers to Ben or Benjamin sometimes. This is behavior that comes from his criminal days, though those close to him will be privy to his actual preferred nickname, Rue.

It's more like he's had to squirm his way out of trouble with a few lower tier mobsters. In truth, he has an aversion to organized crime, but considering his own line of work, he was no stranger to dealing with them in the past.
