Azmodal
Due to the nature of Azmodal, the setting is always changing. Here's a rough primer for interested parties.
----The Major Kingdoms----
The Elven Houses
One of the two major elven kingdoms the Houses are run by the senate, with one member from each house. These Elves are known for warriors of high caliber and capable healers(mostly because the warriors give them ample time to practice).
The political environment between the houses is treacherous though this is usually kept out of the public eye excepting for the Incident of Mortal many centuries ago. The Houses also have deep trade ties with the Dwarven Kingdom.
The Houses don't worship any gods but instead worship their ancestors, specifically those elevated to the status of 'Deus'.
The Chosen Kingdom
The second major Elven kingdom. The Chosen believe that their king was chosen by the Gods to lead them to victory. Their people are primarily warriors with a strong agricultural foundation that was established after a series of wars with the human kingdoms before the Vanishing.
The word of their king is law and gospel and any who defy them are considered traitors and are exiled immediately. The priests preach the word of past kings and record those of the new king. They have few political ties with anyone but have great respect for the human kingdoms and the Elven Houses due to prior conflicts. Their culture is primarily warrior focused and they respect those they view as great commanders or fighters and have little respect for mages.
The Highland Dwarves
This kingdom is based in the Highlands, a large area filled with plains and forests. The kingdom is led by the king and this role is passed down through the royal family. All of the major families in the kingdom have sworn loyalty to the king though some have ambition unbecoming of their position.
They are known both for their exceedingly competent healers and their warriors who are often out in combat alongside one of their political allies such as the Elven Houses, the Human Kingdom of Harrowfeld, and the newly rediscovered Imperial Monarchy. They also house the School of Mages.
You can find a bit more lore written from an IC perspective here.
The Human Kingdom of Harrowfeld
Led by King Harrowfeld this kingdom houses the Palace of Azmodal, the place where the leader of the most populous religion in the land lives. The majority of Priess of Azmodal come from this kingdom. The king of this land has traditionally been elected by the High Houses whom swear loyalty to the King upon his coronation.
This kingdom is known for it's amazing trade products and the ever present priests of Azmodal. They are known militarily for their Horsemen who have proven capable of tearing into even the most hardened of formations.
The Imperial Monarchy
This kingdom is run by the Monarch, the eldest child of the Imperial House. They were lost for many centuries to the Mists, but have since rejoined the kingdoms in the known world. First contact with them after the Mists withdrew resulted in reports of men 'spitting fire from objects of metal and wood that made terrible sounds as our men fell to the ground missing chunks of their bodies'. Whatever they found in the mists gave them incredible military power in small groups.
The Kingdom is known for their technological advances in several fields as well as rather open trade policies. They are a heavily honor based society and for many dishonor either means joining the Legion of the Damned or death. The Legion of the Damned stands at the edges of the Mists though no other kingdom is aware why, and they care not for what could be hiding in there that could menace them?
--The Mists--
The Mists have always existed. Ever present on the Outskirts the mists contain many mysteries. -
