Out of the Mists, a rare creature emerged..looking at the Kingdom of the Elves. Her twin tails flicked as she studied the kingdom...the scents and sight was different from any that she had smelled before. Then again, all she had been was a slave to the demons, vampires, and lycans....treated like dirt. Thinking to herself, This is new. Perhaps I may find a clan or a family who is looking for a bodyguard to protect them from any threats. Running down to the city...she looked around for anything that could possibly be the family that she would serve under.

"Skeeve, KEEP UP!" Henrick barked at his employee. They were only a short distance out of the capitol of the Elven Houses, making the long return trip to Harrowfeld, and he was already starting to regret hiring the lazy wagon driver.
At least he was cheap. And available. If I catch that other bastard.... The trading expedition hadn't been unsuccessful, but would have gone quite a bit better had his previous driver not disappeared into the night with his second wagon and all of it's goods.
Skeeve gave the mule pulling his load a sharp smack. The animal appeared unphased, and if anything, slowed slightly. Henrick cast a glance at his two guards, also hired from a tavern in the city of Elves. Probably rob me too,
first chance they get. He hadn't bothered to remember either of their names, but did have to question why he'd brought them on in the first place - the (admittedly drunken) idea was to keep Skeeve from running off with his goods, but looking at the 'guards' in the daylight, he'd realized they looked just as likely to leave him dead and take everything themselves as they would be to actually get him anywhere safely.
Once we get away from the Mists, I think I'll be handing these two their walking papers. More than any mortal being, Henrick feared the Mists. He'd heard all the stories, but unlike many who weren't as well traveled, he actually believed them. Casting a wary eye towards the foggy horizon, he could have sworn he'd almost seen movement, as if one of the terrifying beasts within had decided to venture out of the fog.
He slowed his horse slightly, and pulled back along side one of the guards. "You," he whispered furiatively, "Did you see that?"
The guard grunted in the most apathetic tone possible.
"I'm serious. Something out there moved."
The guard, a massive, scarred, dangerous looking individual looked over at his companion and let out a slight chuckle. "There ain't annathin' out there what ain't more scared of us than we of it, boss." he rumbled, raising an eyebrow at Henrick. No sooner had the words left his mouth than a faint sound of movement drifted up from somewhere in the forest around them. The guard looked at his companion again, and seemed to have some kind of non-verbal conversation consisting mostly of grunts and skeptical looks. After a moment, he turned back to Henrick. "Tells ya whut, boss. We's gonna take a lil' ride through the bush here justa be safe, mebbe see if we ken get a sword inta whatever deers or rabbits are maken them noises. You dunneed ta worry yer pants off, ain't a thin' out here whut's more scary than us, an' even if there is, it won' be after we chopit up a bit."
The men peeled off, looking for whatever was making the noises, and leaving him and Skeeve alone.
((Welcome!))

((Welcome!))
Her fiery looking pelt soon stood out from the thick mist as she reached the edge of the terrain. As she shuffled her wings against her sides...her ears tilt, listening to the surrounding area. I could have sworn I heard something....like voices. Do I approach them? Looking over her shoulder, she noticed movement coming from behind her. Interesting. I wonder if whoever they are are friend or foe? Turning, she wanted to see if she could flank them. Her large frame of 6' 4" was something that was not hard to miss...but she knew how to move stealthily when push comes to serve. She wanted to make sure that she was not going to be the one hunted....as she was new to these lands. Appearing behind the two who had broke away from the other two, she studies them...not yet realizing that she stepped on a stick till too late.
(thank you ^,.,^)
(thank you ^,.,^)
(Welcome! I'm not sure if you want me to GM this so I'd thought I would ask before doing too much. Granted right now there's not much for me to do here as you two appear to have this take care of at the moment. Just thought it better to ask than to assume)
((All are welcome to join in. As I hope to further this into a storyline that deals with a family or household who needs a bodyguard ^,.,^))
The guards turned shockingly quickly for such large figures, and their jaws dropped nearly as rapidly when they realized what was standing behind them.
Everyone in Azmodal had heard stories of the terrifying, deadly creatures living in the Mists, and many had even seen them. It was rare that one would emerge for any reason, but when it did happen, it usually meant death for anyone unlucky enough to get in their way.
The uglier of the two seemed to regain his senses more quickly. "SHITE, MYST-BEAST!" For all the man's faults, he was certainly no coward, and steel rasped on steel as he drew the sword from his side and urged his horse forward towards the creature.
Moments later, his companion snapped out of his stunned daze, and let out a gutteral war cry, pulling a cruel-looking axe from his back and charging after his companion.
Due to the trees, and the fog, Henrick couldn't see what was happening, but he could certainly hear it. Apparently so could Skeeve - at the first exclamation, he'd jumped from his wagon, and darted into the forest. Henrick doubted he'd be seeing the driver again, even if the beasts he just knew had to be surrounding him didn't manage to eat the man.
Henrick had concluded quite quickly that it was better to be bankrupt than dead. The instant he gave his mount a sharp drive with his heels, however, the second guard's battlecry had erupted from the bushes. Startled, the animal reared up, throwing him unceremoniously into the dirt, and was long gone before he had a moment to regain his senses.
For a minute, he considered trying to make an escape on one of the wagons, but realized after struggling to get the mule moving that anything his guards couldn't handle would certainly have no trouble catching up to him if it desired.
Finally, after a short panic attack, and seeing no other way out, he withdrew his ancient crossbow from his pack, cocking it carefully, and hid behind the lead wagon. Gods, I hope those thugs are as tough as they looked. Or at least filling enough that whatever's out there won't need a second course.

Her 10' wings flared open as she raised back on her hind paws. Seeing the is swords aimed at her, she snarls. Landing back down, her enlongated upper canines unfolded....almost looking like a vipers. Lunging forward, she tackles the first horse...biting down on its neck. As the horse screamed in pain as best it could, although it turned into a gurgling mess of blood dripping down its mouth. Letting go, the horse stumbles...still struggling to breath as blood continued to trickle out of its breath. Before it dropped down to the ground dead...she was already on the second horse. Tackling it full force, her shoulder spikes dig into the side of the horse as well as the leg of its rider. Blood ran down her teeth as she stood up suddenly, knocking the horse over. Before the second man could even attempt to even try to get out from under his horse, she steps on his injured leg...putting most of her weight on her front paws. "Now that I have your attention.....would your care to explain what a myst-beast is?" She growls as she spoke, her twin tails flicking while keeping an ear on the other of the brutes
((Sorry, I'm rarely active weekends and mondays))
It was over before either man could blink. The lead thug toppled from his horse as it went down in a pool of frothy blood, landing roughly on his face. He managed to roll over and right himself just in time to see the creature incapacitate his companion.
If he'd had any thoughts of attempting to engage the beast in round two, they were quickly dispelled by the words coming from it's mouth - deadly monsters from the Mist were bad enough, talking, sentient monsters were a whole other thing, and far above the thug's pay grade. He began to inch away from the scene and into the thick underbrush while his companion replied to whatever the creature had said, his face twisted with terror.
The second thug lacked such a luxurious option, being solidly pinned under both his horse and the weight of the winged thing.
"IT KEN TALK!" he howled, partly from fear, and partly from the pain of his wound. His hands scrambled desperately, if hopelessly, for something, anything near him that might save him from what seemed to be an obvious fate. "Please... please... I dun't have no riches or food." he said, in a humble, frightened voice that was almost alien to him, "Lemmie be, I beg yeh. What yeh want is back there, onna road - wagon fulla loot, fat mules fer eaten, whatever yeh need!"
Partly from shock, and mostly from fright, his speech devolved into ramblings as he offered nearly anything he could think of in an attempt to appease the creature.

Frustrated at his babbling, she growls and walked off. Following the directions of the panick stricken male...she found the wagon. Laying low...she studies the wagon. She could smell the other thug close by...but she just chalked it up that he would be a babbling fool like the last thug. Seeing the other males....she rose to her paws and made her way over to the other two. Perhaps they can tell me what in the nine realms is a Myst-Beast.. This time, she made her presence known...stepping on a stick on purpose. She kept at a good length away so as to be able to defend herself if they decide to attack like the last two.

Alistair and his guards had been walking through the forest. On a normal day Alistair would have found himself inside an armored carriage with thrice the number of guardsmen that were currently riding with him. This was not a normal day however as the Senate had decided to take a several days long break. An argument that had nearly come to blows was cause enough for a break over as sensitive a topic as what they were speaking of.
This had provided him the chance to break away from his normal guard retinue and search for some of the harder to find components of his medicines. That was until he heard yelling and screaming and rushed forward with his Guard. The men he found were in no good shape but managed to point him to their caravan.
He approached and dismounted some ways away as did his guards. "Sire we should probably leave this situation be. We don't want you to be hurt."
Alistair rolled his eyes as he continued walking "I cannot just leave. I may be a member of the Senate but my duty is still to those traveling in this realm."
As they approached they set eyes on Firekeeper. The guards readied their weapons and aimed bows. Alistair looked to his guards and said "Oh calm down, it hasn't killed those two. So far as I can see the other two ruffians probably attacked it first. Though we can always see if they were telling the truth."
Alistair stepped forward and gathered what attention he could and said "Am I to gather you don't mean harm? After all you haven't killed this merchant and his friend yet."
((sorry, meant to get into this a few days ago but life decided to get me super busy around my house so I didn't have a lot of time and didn't want to make a poorly done post))

//it is fine. All this week I am going to be a bit busy due to my daughter 3rd birthday
Her ear tilts as she heard the new voice. "Only if they attempt to attack me first." Her twin tails flicked some as she watches the new arrivals. The other two men who had attacked her finally made it over to her view. "They attacked me first....which is why they lost their mounts. However....one of the babbling fools called me a Myst-Beast....which is new for me. I am new to these lands....looking for a clan or a family to serve as a bodyguard...." She turned her attention back over to the one who had even more people around him

Alistair nodded to the foreign creature as he said "I see. Well a Myst Beast is a fairly general term for any foreign creature coming from the Myst. They are generally attacked first because they tend to try and kill anything and everything. I assume with this new information you can understand their original reaction."
Walking forward towards the beast Alistair kept his hands clasped behind his back as he was used to when he continued "As for finding a family to protect I may be able to help with that."
As one of his men began to protest he motioned for the man to quiet himself as he concluded "I am Alistair Warren of the Elven Houses. A member of the Senate and a healer. My family could always use additional protection. We could provide a place for you to stay, food, and whatever else we can provide that you need. That is if you so desire to come with us. If not I and my men will leave you be since you don't seem to desire to cause harm."

//sorry I can't think of anything else at the moment

Alistair turned to one of his men as the man stood and said "Sir with all due respect how do you-"
Alistair held his hand up to silence the guardsman before telling him "If it desired to cause harm to anyone it would have killed those men we came across and the merchant would be dead and us fighting it."
Turning back to Firekeeper Alistair said "Follow me if you will then. I can keep you safe while we head back to my House. I fear if you were to travel there alone there might be more trouble given your appearance and unknown nature."
His men lowered their weapons as they looked to each other before making themselves ready to travel. Alistair walked to his horse and made himself ready for traveling.

She nods her head and rose to her paws. Her spinal spikes shook as she her massive body as her wings spread open to balance herself out. Her fiery looking pelt looked as if it was on actual fire as her pelt swayed over muscle. "I would definitely not want to run into any more chaos...." The blood from the horses still covered her chest fur and front paws....dripping a little in front of her
Alistair nodded and motioned for his men to begin following him. He trusted the creature to be able to follow him as they made their way. The long path back to his home was full of twists and turns that his men followed with trained ease.
Soon they approached a small entrance built into the back of his home only guarded by two men but secure enough that not even an army would be able to break them without great effort. Without hesitation the guards allowed all with Alistair past the high walls where yet more guards awaited.
None questioned the presence of Firekeeper as Alistair motioned for them to stand down. As they made their way through the small internal compound the various men inside paid no mind. They each had a job to do after all and little time to dally in most of them.
After small security compound they entered into a wide room with various couches and chairs. Looking to his men he said "I will be fine, go about your business. I'm sure you can occupy the time you would have spent with me spending time with your loved ones." Seeing the uncertain looks of a couple of them he smiled and threw his hands up in a shooing motion that most of the guards had become accustomed to "Go on! Send them my well wishes when you greet them at the door!"
The collection of guards dispersed and found their way outside of the large mansion. Once they were gone Alistair motioned for Firekeeper to follow him as he made his way to his personal study. A large room lined with bookshelves with a handful of chairs spread about. The largest of which sat in front of a large fountain with a collection of tables spread around it on which there were numerous books open and spread about.
Sitting at that particular chair Alistair looked at Firekeeper and asked "You desire a family? One to protect and I assume one that will return that kindness. That I can provide you however I will warn you the life my family leads is not an entirely pleasant one. It is a life of political games and assassination attempts. Attempts both small and large as I imagine you can tell from my defenses around my home. So my question to you is do you wish to stay and see if you will enjoy life here or leave? Should you desire to leave I will provide you safe passage away from here of course."

"You are correct in me wanting a family to protect. Although my past is riddled with scars as a slave...it is what shaped me to become what I desire to be. I would rather enjoy the task of protecting your family. I would find that preferable than to wander around aimlessly." She sits down, wrapping her tails around her large paws while she spoke. Shuffling her wings against her sides quietly, she looked around....taking an interest in he things in the room.
Alistair nodded as he stood and walked to one of the bookshelves. Picking up a book at least twice his age Alistair said "I'm happy to have you with us then. I do have to ask if you have any ability to-" It was rather obvious that Alistair was attempting to pick his words carefully as he continued "-appear less, shall we say, intimidating? I know your appearance would be most concerning to many of my fellow senate members, let alone the common elf."
Her ear tilts to him, then she looked over. "Are you asking if I have any other form? I don't have the ability to shapeshift. What I can do is shadow phase through shadows.....where my body can completely become shadow....." Her red eyes shine a little as she looked over at him. Her fiery colored fur sways a little as she breathed and spoke. The tips of her tails flick a little as she went back to looking around. Her white feathers shuffled a little against each other....while she returned her gaze back onto Alistair.
"That's fine I'm sure I can come up with something the other senators will accept concerning your presence." Alistair said as he checked the book he'd picked up.
As he moved back towards his chair a second elf walked in. Wearing a decorated version of the standard guards uniform for the House Warren the elf paused a moment as he saw Firekeeper before looking at Alistair. As he walked around the fountain he said "I see you found a new companion. While you were away House Sky sent request for your presence. Something to do with the Elder's daughter being ill."
Alistair stood as he walked towards the door before stopping and turning. He looked to the elf as he said "I apologize, I don't think you two have been introduced. Victor this is Firekeeper. Firekeeper this is Victor my trusted companion and body guard."
Victor for his part raised an eye brow at Alistair as he said "Tell me you aren't implying this creature can talk?"
