ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE RP

Originally, the "outbreak" was meant to be caused by a genetic enhancement. (no, the government didn't make a virus or anything like that.) it was done by a scientist on his own, to increase life span. It's genetic engineering, meant to save lives from things such as diseases and illnesses. So no, the gene wasn't meant to be evil either. It was simply a good idea taken too far. It spread as a vaccine, almost like a flu shot, as the gene itself was incredibly popular. In order to avoid sickness, you'd get the shot, and be on your way. Doctors claimed it could ward you from illness for the rest of your life, and it did for the most part. But it also affected the mind and body in more dangerous ways. The gene expands over others of its kind, as well as proteins and cells. When this happens, the majority of your humanity is lost. It wasn't until about a month after the vaccine was available that people were making connections.

Zombies in this RP are similar to most other sources, with just a few differences.
1. Not all zombies are going to look grotesque. The only thing completely marking them as zombies is their clear eyes, and their lack of conscience.
2. Zombies do not speak or communicate. So no you're not having a zombie pet, so sorry. They are predatory and only seek to fulfill the need to feed.
3. Zombies are immune to disease and sickness, as well as things such as poison or basic injuries. That doesn't mean they're invincible.
4. Getting bit does not mean certain death or being a zombie. But if your blood and someone's with the gene mixes into your bloodstream, then bye bye for you.

That being said, zombies are not invulnerable. If the heart and brain are both active, then the zombie can continue on. Here are the ways to kill:
1. Headshots that pierce the brain and/or heart (graphic I know)
2. Burning them. And by burning I mean ALL of them, or the majority of the head.
3. Crushing the head in some form or other. A limb will not act if it isn't attached to the torso and head.But missing limbs doesn't mean they can't move.

It should be noted that the gene takes a long time to fully take effect. Meaning there could be a zombie in the group that didn't show signs for a week or two. It was a way to try and make things a little more interesting than "Oh no, he got bit, let's kill him."Vaccines are choice. It's very different depending on where you live. But there's alot of factors that determine whether or not you had the vaccine. It's your choice to decide if your character has it or not.

There IS a way for the vaccine to be of no effect. And that is to have the genetic enhancements as a newborn child. Stem cell research. A child infected with the gene can adapt correctly to the gene, and therefore have the added effects of the gene without actually being a zombie. Yes, you can be one of these people, so long as it fits your story.

It is exactly five months after the spread of the gene, and it is now a widespread ban and warning. While the majority of population has become ill with the affects, humanity is not yet down on its last leg. Instead, they fight among themselves in order to claim land, weapons, and most importantly, supplies. in this RP, you will meet up with two to five other survivors, and do your best to live on despite all odds. Expect bloodshed, and expect death. Remember that zombies aren't the only enemies.

You are welcome to make a character who had the modifications at birth, making them immune. If not, then you are one of many who did not get the vaccine. The reason why is fully up to you. You're also welcome to make up to three characters total, as some of you may wish to kill off certain ones for story. Keep in mind that this RP has no "set" location.
So if you create a location, be generic so that every character can fit into it. I recommend starting off each of your characters in a more social place, such as a mall or store. That way, everyone has a convenient excuse to meet one another. Lastly, remember that supplies are precious. You are not invincible, and you can't survive completely on your own. The world is collapsing slowly but surely.
