  • Of Orcs, Elves, & Wargkesh

d1dT11u.pngIn the beginning, the Dâgalûr-kesh (“Demon People”) were created by breeding orcs with demons. They were snagaz - slaves - to the Uruk-kesh. The Uruk-kesh (“Orc People”), being the ruling clan of all orcs living beneath the continent of Kasuria, on the world of Urrth, used the Dâgalûr-kesh to take care of their wolf-like mounts, wargs. They also pitted the Dâgalûr-kesh against their mortal enemies, Golug - elves and elvenfurres, who fought an eternal battle to keep the monstrous orcish race from taking the Uzg-tala (“Land Above”) for themselves. The Uzg-lata (“Land Below”) had never been enough for their ever-growing horde.

In time, however, the demonic taint in the blood of the Dâgalûr-kesh caused them to develop an ingenuity and strength unknown even to the Uruk-kesh. Thus, the two clans became equals, and the Dâgalûr-kesh began experimenting with their warg charges. Soon, their profane interventions and selective breeding resulted in fantastic magical abilities, and even sentience. The Dâgalûr-kesh named the new race the wargkesh, and much like their former masters, enslaved their creations while they further developed their abilities.

Currently, although wargkesh have begun separating into their own clan within the communities, and even gaining the freedom to enslave their own kin, they still consider themselves lesser beings than the orcs and, be some extension, the demons from whence they and the Dâgalûr-kesh originated.

In the year 1713 (2013 of Earth), a great war erupted between the deep elves (drow) and the Dâgalûr-kesh when the orcs broke through the wards around "Falethori," a forest in eternal night growing in a massive cavern near an orcish settlement. Most of the elves were utterly obliterated, with the necromancers of the Dâgalûr-kesh keeping their corpses and spirits as thralls. The survivors fled and few are known to exist.

Much more recently, Dâgalûr-kesh have begun tentative trading relationships with races from the Uzg-tala - mostly furres of the Olde World and Kasuria, and wyrmes of Drakoria. The first wargkesh to be shipped to the Isle of Guildereim was Nûzh di-Gahl, a prime battle wargkesh meant to be used as a fighter and a breeder, though the latter is unknown to them, nor the establishment of the Golden Tether.

The reason was far more insidious than they could even expect from orcs: whenever wargkesh breed with other creatures, their blood overrides the other parents’, and the cub is born almost entirely pure-blooded wargkesh (save for skin/fur coloration). Via Gahl, the Dâgalûr-kesh would spread their influence, albeit slowly.

Seven years after Gahl’s arrival, in 1720 (2020), Gahl accidentally created a one-person portal to the realm of Alfheim, in the Northern Heavens, thus ending both their life in the Golden Tether and the wargkesh's influence… Until 1723 (2023) when it was decided that more wargkesh were to be sent both as free people and slaves. Time will tell how far the taint of the wargkesh infects the Uzg-tala.
