The cost of finding the truth behind the violent murders across the islands has been high, as the Ghost Killer Guntai has learned painfully first hand. Four brave samurai have lost their lives in the misguided attack on the Naga's lair. Emotions are high, but have no place when duty calls.
Learning about a threat of the "Foul" as the ancient Guardian calls them is the highest priority. Both the Crab and the Dragon clans have specifically come the the islands to combat such threats, and more specifically the Ronin Dachou claims his Sensei also warned him of an ancient threat trapped here on the Eternal Danger Isles.
Gunso Akodo Kurosuchi leaves a handful of his most trusted members behind to learn what they can of the beasts, while he and the rest of his squad find the Mantis and return with the newfound information. He promises to send reinforcements as soon as he can, but it seems that so long as the samurai remain in the Naga's good graces, the creatures of this island have no interest in attacking.
Communication is slow, as the Naga is clearly disturbed. Kuni Makari has begun to realize that this Constrictor has been severed from the Akasha, the Naga's hive-mind, and become what they call an Abomination. The traumatic experiences it must have faced being severed from the Akasha and seeing hundreds of the children he was sworn to protect long dead have shattered it's sense of reality.
Clearly it believes the pearls to still be live eggs, and it mentions hearing voices through the Akasha. Disillusioned as it may be, the Naga has lucid enough thoughts.
You've learned it's name; the Arkarst. It has sworn to defend this island from the Foul, and it has come to trust that you have as well though the magic pearl it gave you to communicate.

you can ask it whatever you like about whatever you like. This will be some good background and exposition stuff, and we'll see what else we can make of the scene.
