Race of humanoids mutated by the toxic remains of Erebus. Years of his scourge had plagued and corrupted the world, bringing life to his brood. Their skin is pale and paperlike, almost thin enough to be translucent though they possess an advanced regenerative ability with shared immunities to poisons as their blood reduces to a toxic symbiotic sludge once they reach puberty. The Karnethian possess exquisite night vision and reflexes under duress. After the ascension of their progenitor the bloodline began to grow even stronger as he left his physical body to reign below in the underworld. From the last tainted vessel of the Dreadlord grew a vastly superior stock, the direct contact with his discarded body had given his people an immense control of the monstrous power that Erebus had wielded. As the vex of war stripped himself of mortal shell he granted upon the people a tribute only he had partaken of. "Eat of my flesh and you shall always be strong. May you welcome death within my strongholds for you are now my people and shall be celebrated as such. Consume of the flesh of your king and witness your true strength forever more my children. Thus the first of the nobility were born from consuming his wretched flesh. Soon the Karnethians spread and flourished as the young went to find fortune. All now praised their foreboding master amongst them, he who had instilled the righteous wrath of The Lord Of Blood. The Karnethians are a violent and brutal race based on the power hungry teachings of their lord. They are prone to battle lust through the influence of Erebus' guiding spirits of malevolent wrath. The Karnethian nobility is capable of forming an armored hide of fel steel to combat their opponents as well as a physical strength much greater than a normal man. With stamina and speed to outmatch a fleeing wood elf these predatory creatures have a tendency to hunt stronger opponents to slay and devour in a ritualistic fashion to honor their founder's legacy.
Characteristics:
Complexion: Karnethians are extremely pale with nearly paper thin skin in their natural state so thin in fact it is very nearly translucent. They lack a good amount of protection from UV lighting thus the sun and UV lights will weaken or even potentially harm a karnethian that goes unprotected.
Eyes: Varying shades of blue to purple with predatory slit pupils like a snake.
Racially prone toward magical use though many prefer the use of weaponry as opposed to the mystical arts.
They feed on energy, allowing them a slight resistance to magic as they siphon the power from the manifested energy.
Racial abilities:
Noble Armor- a protective fel steel layering to the skin to reduce damage.
Bloodlust- The Karnethian harnesses all of the energy within their body to unleash a temporary ascended state. Within this state they will enter a berserker rage as attack strength raises for each successful hit.
Adaptive healing- The body quickly applies sutures to itself to hold the Karnethian together in the event of critical injury, sutures only maintain the body until healed or internal structure becomes too bad to support life.
Toxic life- Poison immunity, their blood is also a highly toxic substance capable of poisoning those that come in contact with it.
Darkvision- A karnethian has enhanced vision in low light environments and only slightly dulled vision in pitch dark. Bright sunlight weakens their vision to being just below a human's as if they were slightly near sighted.
Slightly increased reflex- The race has reflexive actions akin to a wood elf in nature though this is limited to their physicality and ability to react.
The nobility are born with completely colorless eyes and an increased susceptibility to UV and "bright" lights. The nobles are the most pure of the Karnethian race and most in tune with the favorable magical aspects that their patriarch exhibited in life. While not true unread most have taken on qualities similar to them as they have a powerfully high pain tolerance. The nobility are prone to a rather distressing amount of arrogance, many thinking themselves unkillable in battle due to the enhanced rate of sutured healing they have though are still highly prone to damage as any other being would be.
Traits: White eyes (invert to monochromatic after consuming flesh of Erebus. This is ONLY attainable through storyline)
Note: A noble can be born however they will exhibit no more control over their powers than a normal Karnethian until Erebus' flesh is consumed via storyline play.
Enhanced powers: Blood control (the noble has an advanced control over their blood and can change the various states of their blood internally), complete darkvision (nobles see perfectly in dim or no light environments, viewing things in shades of gray though lifeforms produce a blue aura), heightened pain tolerance (a broken bone does little more than slow down use of the limb)
