So, I'm fairly certain Martom's character sheet is finished and I'm excited to start running him. But I have a couple things I'm not sure of, so I figured I'd ask some of the more senior folks in the group and see if they could get me an answer.
My main question is how does one get involved in a mission/quest? I notice that 2 or 3 are already well underway, and obviously randomly introducing a new PC midway through a story line can be difficult under the best circumstances and really messes with the flow most of the time. So, as I'm sitting those ones out, how can I tell when the next IC thread will open up so I can jump in? Is the bounty board still in use? Are the threads just kind of "open" at the start?
Appreciate any and all answers.

Our dm generally runs the 'quests' as their own separate vignettes. It is possible to get written in half way. (I've done it twice myself now) But if you'd prefer to start at the beginning of a quest, just pick one off the bounty board. The bounty board is always available to pcs. In generally he'll start running one when he has at least 2-4 players interested, filling in any missing skills or player slots with npcs if he needs to. If you are between quests and wish to do a player run side quest, that's always an option too, with his approval of course. That's how I got drunk and sold my mithril shield for a war bear.
In your particular case, I'd probably recommend waiting. I know the Dwarven Vault is just about wrapped up. I assume the others are getting there as well unless they've run into unforeseen trouble (I haven't been following them myself so if I'm wrong their players are free to speak up). Feel free to chat with us in the ooc thread while you wait, look over the bounty board to decide which quest you might want to go on first or if you have any more questions just ask!

Okay, that makes sense. Appreciate the reply, answered my question pretty well!
I'll poke through the bounties and see if anything catches my eye, and probably drop in the chat here and there in the meantime.

I might also recommend reading over an older thread or following along with a current quest, just to get an idea of how he runs things and such.
feel free to read through any shenanigans on the way to pass time. I reread them a few times as well.
One step ahead of you on that, actually.
But appreciate the recommendation regardless

I recommend A night to remember and The Missing Coven myself, but those are just my favorites and I might be biased.
Fun Fact: The Missing Coven is the only time Aekra has ever sworn, ever.
Yea...that quest went down hill fast and hard. But it has one of my favorite Venla moments in it, so there's that!
Venla, you can't say that to normal people!
Ah, good times.

Read through both of the suggested threads, and liked both of them quite a lot. Particularly The Missing Coven. I enjoyed the character dynamics going on, and the flow and story were some of the best I've seen in a play-by-post. Props to the resident DM for that last bit.
Also served as a helpful "tutorial" of sorts on how the threads handle 5E game mechanics.

Somehow our GM manages to keep the ball going even when we do our best to crash and burn the whole thing. Quite the quality to have, really.
