Having moved in about a month or so ago, Shinoa hasn't really gotten out of the apartment much. Sadly, she didn't exactly choose the best place in the Sunshine State. While the reviews for the complex weren't exactly the most favorable, the rent was really low compared to most other parts of Palm Hills. Or even the state of Florida entirely. With her Father constantly traveling for work, Shinoa had decided to strike out on her own and move into her own place, with her Father and Grandmother supporting her financially. And with the low rent and utility bills, she did have the capability to save much more money. And over the last month, she has been able to call Paradise Apartments home. Wasn't exactly the best place for a pregnant girl though.

Aside from being a homebody, the only time Shinoa really left the complex to attend her Doctor's Appointments. And as of last week, Doctor's Appointments are now weekly up until childbirth. Currently, Shinoa was more scared of giving birth then anything else. Aside from being young, she was also expecting twins! And she was going to pop literally any day now. Shinoa was thirty-seven weeks pregnant. She thought she was going to pop last week, but apparently she did not.

Wanting to get out of the apartment, Shinoa put on a dress and shoes so that she could at least go out for a walk around the complex. Straightening out her dress and grabbing her purse, it was time to go. Upon locking the door, she proceeded towards the nearest set of stairs so that she could get to the ground floor to begin her walk around the complex. Maybe stop by the pool?
The sun was pleasantly warm on Leo's face as he arrived home. He slipped his keys from the pocket of his long, dark coat with the hand not holding his cane. Beneath his coat, his neat grey suit was just about visible; Leo's work meant he had to dress well, although it didn't pay him nearly enough to buy new suits to do so. None of his suits were shabby - some were even quite nice and well-fitted, as was his coat. His clothes had all been taken care of well, so that their age didn't show in the slightest, and some of them Leo had managed to keep since his days at law school, without putting on or losing too much weight or muscle in the meantime, so that they still fit just as well as they had back then.

Fel would still be out at this time. Along with her ballerina training, rehearsals, and performances, she had a part-time job in a shop down the road, to help put a little extra money in the siblings' pockets. They didn't do too badly for themselves, all things considered, but the cheap rent of Paradise Apartments was certainly helping while they put together some savings. Leo was going to get a deposit together and get them a proper house, and it shouldn't take too long while they were living here. The Apartments weren't great - Leo hated the idea of either of his little siblings having to call this place home - but they were better than nothing, and it was only for a little while. And at least Elmo didn't stare off into the corners of the bedroom in the middle of the night, with a desperately sad expression, anymore. Not like the last house. For all its flaws, at least Paradise Apartments didn't seem too badly haunted.

Elmo might be home. Who knew where Elmo would be and when? Leo had never been able to keep track of his younger brother's schedule, and he'd long since given up. There were some things in life he would never entirely make sense of, and Elmo was one of them - but that didn't mean Leo loved him any less for it. Quite the opposite, really.

As he headed towards the apartments, he heard the sound of someone's shoes, and slowed his pace, his cane sweeping the floor before him. He already knew his way around well enough to not need the cane so badly, here, but it always helped to make sure people were aware he would walk into them if they didn't let him know where they were.
While walking around the complex, Shinoa clutched her purse close and placed her hand on her back as it was beginning to hurt a little bit. It probably wasn't going to be long until she needed to go find a place to sit down. So yeah, definitely gonna be circling back to the pool because she doubted that she'd make it up the stairs and back to her apartment before her legs gave out. As she looked around though, the area was rather vacant, but given the time of day, maybe most of the residents here were still at work? Finally, her gaze had gone down to her swollen belly. Because of how big it had gotten, Shinoa couldn't exactly see her feet anymore. Not even the edge of her toes! Sighing, she looked up to see a well-dressed man with dark glasses and a cane spinning around.

Stopping about six feet away, she proceeded to straighten out her dress and began cradling her belly. "Oh, hello there! I'm Shinoa, one of the newer tenants." She said, giving a brief introduction with a smile on her face. "What's your name?"
Hearing the person stop a short distance from him, Leo ceased his sweeping, pulling his cane close to himself, holding it upright with his hands resting atop it. He turned in her direction, with a friendly and warm smile, and offered out a hand to shake.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Shinoa," he said, repeating her name so as to have a better chance of committing it to memory. Leo was usually pretty good at remembering names and matching them to voices. "I'm Leo. Welcome to Paradise - how're you finding it all so far?"

She sounded young - maybe Elmo's age, give or take a few years. Leo wondered what had brought her here - was she alone, striking out in the world by herself, or here with family or a lover? Asking, of course, would have been prying, and terribly rude, so Leo wasn't going to broach the subject first. Still, he hoped it was a good reason for being here - although Leo wasn't entirely sure there were any good reasons for having to live in these apartments.
She had just finished her trip to good ol’ Wally World, climbing out of her old beat up black truck in time to hear Shinoa introduce herself across the lot to a male she’d seen around but never spoken to herself. Goodness the woman looked ready to pop at any time, but Jo would refrain from asking any baby questions for the sake of not wanting to seem too weird or nosy. She gathered her bags full of instant ramen and snacks, as well as various other miscellaneous items, moving to shut her truck door and head towards her own apartment.

She noticed Leo’s cane the closer she got to the duo, sending a warm smile in both directions whether or not the male could catch it through those glasses. “Hello neighbors,” she greeted brightly, hoping her intrusion on the conversation wasn’t ill received, “How goes things?” A small ring on her right index finger allowed her to be out in the sun, otherwise she’d have been holed up in her room and avoiding sunbeams like Dracula.

Jo wasn’t usually a social butterfly but both of these folks seemed far less shady than the woman peeking out of her blinds most days in that robe of hers. Maybe it would be nice to have a few friendly faces in her life. Her ripped jeans hid the majority of tattoos on her legs, yet still hinted at the ink through those holes. Worn out black converse on her feet had seen far better days, faded sharpie designs drawn all over the white canvas. A Motionless in White band t-shirt completed her attire, that long raven hair tied up in a loose messy bun out of the way. “I’m Joelle, or Jojo if preferred,” she offered warmly if they hadn’t shooed her off, “I live in number fifteen over there.”
Likewise, the well-dressed man introduced himself. Given the cane and the dark glasses, the expectant mother presumed that the man was blind, but didn't want to say it out loud, as that would have been inconsiderate if not rude. And her Father most certainly raised her better then that. Still, given his tone, he must've been a nice person given that he didn't shoo her away right off the get-go. When he had offered a handshake, the expectant mother did waddle a little closer to reciprocate, but stopped about three-ish feet away given the huge baby bump. After shaking hands with Leo, Shinoa had gone back to cradling her belly. When asked how she was finding Paradise -The Apartment Complex- so far, she smiled a little. "Well, I'm enjoying it so far. Just needed my own place for a little while since my Dad travels a lot for work. And given the low rent, it's a good opportunity to save up a little, which I could use since I have twins on the way." She replied. "Place is a little rundown, but its still home."

Before long, another young woman, at least a few years older then her, joined in on the conversation. She was very beautiful too! And the dark hair went very well with the tattoos that she had. Shinoa wasn't sure of how much the other woman had, but it was quite a lot. From her arms. There were probably some on her legs, which were mostly covered up. Knowing how expensive tattoos could be, Shinoa could only imagine how much she had spent on it all. "It's going good so far. Mostly just wanted to get out of my apartment, so figured I'd walk around the complex a bit, maybe check out the pool later."

Both hands soon moved to her lower back, but her smile never left her face. Soon, the other woman introduced herself as Joelle, though she did also go by Jojo. "Lovely to meet you too, Joelle, I'm Shinoa. I live up in number thirty-four. Just a little above you. And I apologize in advance since you both will probably be hearing crying infants soon." Momentarily, her stomach let out an eager growl once her eyes landed on the groceries that filled Joelle's hands, prompting her to blush and let out a nervous chuckle. "Anyway, guessing you just got back from a little grocery shopping?"
Shaking Shinoa's hand, with a firm but far from rough shake, Leo nodded as he listened to her answer. The handshake had felt a little strange, almost as if she was standing a distance away and reaching further; he'd extended his own arm further to try to balance them. Her response, though, also answered that question.

"I'm very glad you're finding it comfortable enough to be getting on with. Having twins must be rather a tremendous but nerve-wracking undertaking. If you are ever in need of anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask me or my siblings - we live at four and five. We would be more than delighted to lend a hand."
Leo didn't need to ask them to know that Felicita and Elmo would be eager to step up to help - either would probably have made the same offer, because Leo raised them to be polite and helpful.

He turned his head towards the newcomer as another woman joined the conversation; he ducked his head with a smile in greeting as she offered her name. It appeared that this was the time for new neighbours to run into one another.

"It's a delight to meet you, Joelle. I'm Leo; I live with my siblings at four and five. Is there anything we can help with?" he asked. If Joelle had groceries, perhaps she might like some help carrying them; Leo might hesitate to offer to take them upstairs, although he would certainly do his best, but another groundfloor room was well within his capabilities.
Oof, did she say twins? Leo wasn’t wrong when he’d mentioned an undertaking, but Joelle had refrained from calling out anything since her hearing had caught those tidbits before she had made it over to them.

“Good to hear!” she chirped to Shinoa politely, glancing to the pool curiously herself. She hadn’t ever paid it any mind personally. “Lemme know how that goes,” she smiled, “I’ve wondered how sanitary the thing is, but haven’t gone close enough to check for myself.”

“Likewise,” she said with another bright smile, taking both their names to memory as well as the apartment numbers given. “Oh? It’s fine,” she laughed regarding the future crying, “If you need help, I can also assist as I’m able.”

She fought back a soft snicker when Shinoa’s stomach grumbled, adjusting her bags when mentioned. “I did, yes. I had to stock up on my favorite noodles,” she laughed, “Ramen are low budget and pretty versatile I’ve noticed.” Then to Leo she shook her head despite the fact that he likely wouldn’t catch it, “Oh? Nahh, I didn’t get very many things so I can manage it solo. I do appreciate the offer though. I was mostly just being nosy enough to stop and say hi. I hate to hold the two of you up, though, so I’m going to take these bags inside before my ice cream melts. It was lovely meeting you both. Feel free to stop me for a chat anytime.” With that she politely excused herself and headed towards her apartment humming softly to herself. Her inhuman strength made those bags feel like barely more than paper as she adjusted them and dug for her door key. Moments later the woman vanished inside.
So far, Shinoa was pretty happy with her overall experience here at Paradise. Wonderful neighbors so far. Though she did question why a man like Leo was living around here. Given the suit, she naturally assumed that he had a high-paying job. Maybe he was down on his luck and trying to get back on his feet? Perhaps the expectant mother would find out when she got to know him a bit better. One thing he definitely wasn't wrong about was that having twins was definitely nerve-wracking. Especially at her age, which she hasn't said out loud yet. He then told her that if she needed any assistance regarding the twins, or anything really, to ask him or his siblings. Shinoa smiled in kind. "Well, I'll be sure to keep that in mind. Thank you." To her delight, and relief for that matter, Joelle was also willing to lend a hand, and didn't seem too bothered when Shinoa mentioned the future crying brought by her babies.

Joelle then re-affired that she did just go grocery shopping and stocked up on her favorite noodles since Ramen is low-budget and versatile. While she wasn't wrong, Shinoa couldn't exactly ramen regularly. At least not low-budget kind. In large quantities as it wasn't good for the babies. Before the expectant mother could say much more, Joelle was ready to take her leave, though Shinoa wasn't about to stop her the moment she mentioned ice cream melting. "Um, sure. Maybe see you by the...pool later." She said, frowning as the other woman left and went back into her apartment.

As she felt a kick against her hand, she gently rubbed the belly to soothe the babies before looking back at Leo. "So I'm guessing you just got back from work as well?"
Leo nodded at Joelle's rejection of his offer for help, with a polite smile. He wasn't in the slightest bit offended, of course, and he hoped that she'd know he was more than willing to aid in future, if necessary. Leo believed firmly in the importance of fostering healthy, neighbourly relationships. After all, when he and his siblings were children, it had been their neighbours who had generously offered a bit of pasta or a cup of milk or some outgrown clothes, so that Leo could manage to keep his siblings fed and clothed. Unstable though their financial situation might be right now, Leo wanted to repay that kindness any way he could.

"Have a good afternoon," he bid Joelle, as she indicated she was leaving, before he turned back to Shinoa in time to listen to her question.
"Yes - I was rather lucky to get to go on time today. I'm a defense lawyer, so I work rather long hours," he admitted. "It's worth it for the good I can do, and it will pay off in the future, but it certainly makes me grateful when I don't finish late." His smile had a hint of humour behind it as he made that comment.

"How about you? Are you working, or on leave or taking a break, because of the twins?" He hoped it wasn't too prying a question, but he thought it was probably appropriate, given she'd asked him about his work, albeit more indirectly.
After Joelle had left, it was now just Leo and Shinoa herself. Her hands moved to her lower back as it was starting to ache. Most mothers expecting twins would have delivered last week or even a week or two before, but the ones in her belly were being stubborn. She didn't really control when they were gonna arrive. They'll get here when they get here. Nonetheless, she happily continued her conversation with Leo, as he was a kind person so far. She smiled when Leo told her about what he did for a living. He was a defense lawyer. Well, at least now she knew who to go to if she got into any trouble. "Oh, I'm a freelance photographer. Just moved here not too long ago because my Dad travels a lot for work and my Grandma is in Europe. I'm taking a break for now though because it's been tough for me to be on my feet for long periods of time." She said, looking down at her belly, frowning as she remembered that she could no longer see her feet. "Not to mention carrying around a camera and having to haul equipment sometimes can be very tiring."

Hopefully the twins would be out sooner rather then later, but Shinoa didn't exactly want to get her hopes up since she was already a whole week overdue. Smiling as she thought about the new chapter in her life coming soon, she proceeded to look back up at Leo. "Other then that, just taking it easy before the big day. Mmm...Now that you're home, any plans for the rest for the day?"
It was clear that Leo's entire attention was devoted to Shinoa, his head ducked a little as he listened. The slight tilt made his hair fall forwards of his ear on one side, but he paid it little might, listening to Shinoa.

"A photographer? That's marvellous. Do you have a preferred subject?" he asked, wondering if she was a travel photographer, or a fashion one, or something else entirely. He'd have to introduce her to Felicita - he was sure that the two of them would get on excellently. Photography was one of those things Fel had dabbled in briefly, but if Shinoa was interested in fashion or the arts in general, Fel would most certainly find something to bond with her over. Leo was so proud of his little sister's talents.

"I can certainly imagine that the equipment would be rather heavy. At least you'll have the equipment to take plenty of baby photos," he joked lightly. "There's nothing in particular I have planned. I'll spend the rest of the day with my siblings. My sister will still be at work - I hope you'll meet her sometime; I think you might get along well - but I'm not sure if my brother's home yet. We'll make dinner together and perhaps go grocery shopping, since I'm home early enough to all go together. How about you, do you have any plans?"
Seeing that it was just the two of them, Shinoa happily continued conversing with Leo. Gently, her hands moved to her swollen belly as she began caressing it, hoping to soothe the babies as she started feeling semi-periodic kicks, though it was next to impossible to distinguish which baby it was considering that there were two of them growing in her tummy.
Leo wrote:
"A photographer? That's marvellous. Do you have a preferred subject?"
"I don't have a preferred subject. Though I do enjoy nature, travel and fashion if I had to pick. Wedding photography though is my least favorite. Bridezillas can be the worst people to deal with. One thing out of place on their special day and next thing you know, you're a verbal punching bag. Though I think it'll be a while until I consider another wedding. The last bride was very mean." She said, pouting. "She accused me of trying to upstage her just because I was pregnant."

Shinoa proceeded to shake her head, as the thought was still rather...bothersome. Being pregnant was already hard, so why make an expectant mother more anxious by raising one's voice? She then snapped out of it when Leo mentioned the weight of the equipment. All the extra equipment she had to sometimes carry for certain photoshoots were heavy and a pain in the rear. Though for the last couple of months up until recently, she's left the equipment at home, stashed away in the closet and mostly went around with just her camera, which started feeling awkward the more her belly grew. But the solution to that was letting the camera hang from her side. Shinoa smiled again when Leo joked about baby photos being plentiful. To that, she stroked her belly, excited to take pictures of her newborns once she got to bring them home. "Well, that is one thing I can save money on and definitely look forward to."

Having mentioned family previously, Shinoa's smile remained when Leo said that he'd be spending time with his siblings for the remainder of the day. However, his sister was still at work and he wasn't sure of where his Brother was, but definitely not home. Nonetheless, looks like he had the remainder of the day planned. "I hope so too. I'll be around for a little while, so there'll be plenty of time." She replied. "I don't have any plans. The fridge, freezer and pantry are filled. Laundry's finished. I was just gonna go check out the pool, maybe go for a walk if my back doesn't give out."
