Tam wasn't sure about leasing an apartment here, and though she wasn't really superstitious, she did raise her eyebrow at the apartment number. This apartment was all she could afford after arriving in town. The Starlite motel will not do for much longer. Having paid a deposit and first and last months rent, Tam was quite broke to do much for furniture. Fortunately her friend Lena helped her move in the old couch from her dad's place. It would do for now to sleep on, for she had slept on it many times before when staying over at Lena's while they were in high school.
The rest of her belongings were contained in two large travel bags. She had just secured employment, but it would be some time before she could get her apartment fitted out. After sitting and smoking a joint with Lena, her friend left, and Tam was left to unpack what she needed from her bags. Most of it would remain in the bags, but Tam did note the garage sale and yard sale they had passed not far away. Later... she would walk over to them later. Right now, she needed a nap as Lena's weed was way too strong for her on an early afternoon.
