Aeon let out a sigh, the past two days had gone from okay, to bad, to worse. All he knew was that he had to be ready for people to come around to his shop tonight, friendly or otherwise.
Aeon had just woken up from a bark from Vapor, his ginger wolf-fox Revenant. Vapor nudged Aeon awake, practically forcing Aeon out of bed. Neither of them had slept in two days, and it was getting to Aeon, Vapor seemed fine despite the lack of sleep. Not that Vapor slept much anyways.
The duo had to manage going out at night for errands and food, while managing to sell goods during the day, taking rest whenever possible. It was hard, but tonight there was a chill in the air. Something was going to happen, good or bad. Both Aeon and Vapor could feel it.
Aeon was waiting with his cloak on by the door, sitting in a chair in silence. He was expecting two distinct visitors, but who would arrive first, he didn't know.

Whilst they went along, Vera whistled a tune. She seemed to be in a slightly better mood than usual, so that was good. But when she was about halfway to her destination, one thing had suddenly crossed her mind; that other 'troublesome' pair that was mentioned before. Slowing her pace and steadily stopping her cheerful whistling, she looked over at Mortimus. The Revenant also slowed down, vaguely wondering what was bothering her.
"Hey, uh, you think we're gonna run into the guy and his bear?" Vera asked. Mortimus only gave a slight shrug.
"Perhaps. You must be calm, do not fret. You do recollect that we have strength in numbers, correct?"
Despite those words, Vera didn't seem to be all too convinced. Her brows furrowed a bit, and she nodded. "Uh.... Yeah, I guess...." She fell silent, picking up the pace.
And soon enough, she had reached her destination. As soon as she saw Aeon, she smiled and waved. "Hey hey hey! What's up, little dude?" Vera greeted, going up to him.

Aeon looked towards the familiar voice in relief, waving at Vera as she approached with Mortimus. "Well, not much is going on yet, but honestly just glad you are here. I finished your rapier a few hours ago, and I haven't seen anything of the... other competitor."
He stood up, opening the door to his workshop to let the two in. Vapor moved down from the loft, pacing around the shop. "Glad you two are here first." Vapor mused, "Who knows what would've happened if the other pair had arrived first, but nonetheless I'm glad you two arrived safely."
"So Vera, Vapor tells me that there is another pair that are in an alliance with us? Just so I can keep an eye out for them, what do they look like?" Aeon questioned. Vapor had explained an encounter earlier that ended with a three way alliance, but Aeon hadn't known who it was with, Vera and Mortimus, but who else?

Wes walked down the alleyways, vaguely remembering the location of the shop. He had decided that if anything was to happen that night, he wasn't going to hold back punches. He wanted to get this competition over with and get his wish. Vince, his partnered bear-like Revenant, had the same idea as him.
Vince has slowed down after turning the corner, the both of them instantly noting the clover that had been painted on the wall. They were getting closer, and Vince could feel other Revenants nearby, possibly more than one.
Vince nudged Wes, holding up one paw, showing two sharpened claws. Wes nodded in reply, continuing to walk down the alley in silence, seeing some people conversing.
Wes knew he was in the right place, recognizing Aeon's cloak from afar. Vince snarled quietly in disgust, seeing the Revenant that they had attacked earlier. What the heck are those two doing? Clearly they must know each other... Might make this a bit more difficult than I would've liked. Wes thought, scratching his stubble chin as they approached.

Vera and Mortimus shared a look for just a moment before heading inside the workshop after he had opened the door. "Man, I'm definitely glad I didn't come last...." She muttered under her breath before looking up at Aeon. It took her a moment or two to remember the details of the other pair they made budd-buddy with.
"Ah, well, one of them is a tall dude. I think he's Spanish or something. His name is Enri. And his Rev is a cat named Amanita, and her fur is like....golden or something? Well, all I know, is that when she's near, noises around her get kinda.... muted."
Mortimus had listened to her description, and snorted after she had finished. "Rather lackluster." He suddenly paused, head turning towards the door. Vera noticed this, and she furrowed her brow, looking at Mort.
"What's up Morty?"
"I believe our....undesirable visitants have arrived." He remarked.

Vapor nodded, "Yes, I sense them as well... They shall think twice before threatening us especially together."
Aeon was moving towards the furnace of the workshop, picking up a silver rapier with an emerald at the bottom of the hilt. It had a clover design on the base of the blade. "If they are here, we best be ready to defend ourselves. I feared they would've attacked earlier if it wasn't for the fact that we were in public." Aeon said, shortly retelling his encounter with the man.
Vapor had moved something from one of the closest tables, it was a simple spear with a silver spearhead adorned with a sapphire gem. "Aeon, don't forget your own defenses. If they truly want a fight, they will be outnumbered and will be at a disadvantage with what weapons we have."
Vapor then ducked between two more tables, the gray tips of his ears and tail were all that was seen as they shined like small fireflies. Aeon moved, grabbing the spear, holding the rapier out for Vera. "I gave it a small emerald at the bottom to match your hair, may it keep you safe." Aeon said with a bow.

Mortimus stepped away from the door, moving off to the side of it. He made sure that he was away from any windows that could give his position away. Vera also moved to a different spot, but she paused, seeing the rapier that he had made for her. Her eyes lit up at the sight of it.
"Aw, dude! This is so cool!" She accepted the rapier, waving it around to get adjusted to it. Lowering it, she paused. "Uh, since we're exchanging gifts and all...." Vera reached into the backpack she brought along with her, reaching inside of it, pulling out a plushie that looked strikingly similar to Vapor, it was a bit rough around the edges, but decent enough for her first one. She offered it to Aeon.
"I busted my ass making this in time for tonight. I had to look up like, a million tutorials." Vera said with a smile. "Do ya like it? I hope it's not weird or nothin'."

Aeon took the plush, marveling at it for a moment. "This is great! Thank you!" He quickly moved to the loft, careful to avoid the window by the wall, setting the plush on the nightstand next to his bed. He slid down the ladder, grabbing a sheathe he had made for her sword. "Oh, and this too. So you don't have to have it out at every moment, but it's on hand if you do need it."
Vapor looked at the plush, impressed and slightly honored by the design, despite its flaws. "Impressive work Vera. I will admit it is quite spot on, even remembering the tips of my tail and ears fade to grey, wonderful work." Vapor said, moving to the loft, by the door, "Although, I'm curious how you plan to... hide or conceal your sword. Public officers don't exactly know about the whole... competition... And even if they did, a sword seems excessive for self defense."

A smile was on her face, obviously pleased that Vapor liked it. Vera let out a small laugh at his question. "Honestly, I'll just tell 'em it's a prop. They won't know." She replied with a shrug, taking the sheathe and sliding the rapier in. "Now I'm a French-Canadian! En guarde!"
"I am fairly certain that they will suspect that the blade is in fact, real." Mortimus interjected, sighing slightly. Vera had paused and fell silent, realizing something.
"Oh man. Pops is gonna be real confused when I bring this home." The teen muttered, staring at the rapier in her hands.

Wes and Vince approached the door to the workshop, Vince sliding against the wall to avoid being seen by the window of the loft. Wes let out a sigh hearing voices on the other side of the door. He didn't quite feel okay with barging and entering with so many people in one room. Wes decided to knock, taking a step away from the door, hand on the hilt of his sheathed dagger.
Vince considered letting out a roar, but remained silent, scratching his antlers on the wall without making a sound. He also was ready to strike, but eyed the door awaiting a response.

"They are here... I can sense the Revenant on the other side of the door." Vapor said, positioning himself on the loft, ready to strike at anyone that may try and break through the door.
Aeon clutched his spear in silence, motioning to Vera and Mortimus to hide, at least, for now. He slowly approached the door, cracking it open to hide the spear in his other hand as he looked outside, he saw the man. "Hel- Oh, it's you... what do you want?" He spoke with a tinge of anger, trying to hold back his full distaste for the person.

Vera nodded a bit, gesturing to Mortimus to find something to duck behind. The Revenant headed over to the furnace, crouching right by the side that was facing away from the door. Vera followed, squeezing herself right next to him.
But then she realized that she left her backpack there. Well, too late to go for it now.

"You know what I want, my weapon? Remember?" Wes said, almost aggravated. His morning went awfully, not to mention the shrieks of the afternoon, and now getting attitude from this person, overall he was pissed, making him volatile in his words and actions.
Vince looked over the door, eyeing Aeon, "Kid, make quick work of getting our order or we force our way in." Vince said, threateningly. They were both ready to forcibly enter if needed. Vince still looked around, he sensed another Revenant, other than Aeon's Revenant, and Wes did too, but they didn't know where they were.

Aeon gave a wayward glance back, there was a mostly finished sword sitting on a table by the forge, seeing Vera's backpack on one of the tables. "R-right, your weapon... it's uh, almost finished if you could wait outside a moment or two I'll have it done in minutes." Aeon said, beginning to close the door, hoping that the man would just stay outside, or better yet, leave altogether.
"Look, he's been busy with what lack of sleep he's getting with people like you demanding orders left and right. Give him a break okay?" Vapor barked from the loft, just next to the door, up around five feet from the floor. He finished with a challenging bark as Aeon was closing the door.

Wes moved his foot in the doorframe, stopping the door. "I don't mind waiting a few minutes... But, I would like to watch if you don't mind. Just wanting to make sure you aren't... messing around." He said the last words with suspicion. He had felt the normal chill of being near a Revenant, but Vince made it clear that there was more than the one in the workshop around.
"Pull any funny business little man and we not guarantee your safety." Vince said, forcing the door back open with one of his massive paws. They weren't going to just let him slip away and "work" without any supervision.

Listening on the exchange between the two, she bit her lip, getting a bit anxious now. She quickly shot Mortimus a look that said, 'He's totally dead', and leaned back slightly, trying to calm down. Her heart was beating a bit too fast.
Aeon and Vapor exchanged nervous glances as the two forced the door open. Aeon quickly set the spear against the wall, as Vapor moved to a position so that he could see Mortimus and Vera as well as the rest of the workshop.
Vapor's tail swished normally, as he eyed the pair who forced the door open. He gave a glance to Vera and Mortimus that read 'wait there until I say otherwise.'
Aeon shifted away from the door, nervously looking towards the forge, seeing Vera's backpack. He hoped that it wasn't questioned as he moved to grab the unfinished sword from one of the tables.
"Uh... Okay... it just might take awhile and the room can get awfully hot when the forge is on full blast, because I'm treating and sharpening the blade... That's why I recommended you to stay outside." He said hesitantly moving towards the forge, aware of Vera and Mortimus' hiding spot.

Wes absently shrugged as he walked into the room, sure the reason was there, but he didn't think it was the only reason that Aeon wanted him to wait outside. "I just like seeing the job finished, makes it good to make sure you aren't getting duped. I'm sure you understand being a... businessman and all."
Vince ducked through the door frame, careful to not get his antlers stuck as he had before. Vince kept a closer eye on the other Revenant, which would most likely be the more threatening of the two. "You make one wrong move and you'll be..." Vince made a slashing motion across where his throat is with one of his claws. It was a gesture he had seen Wes use threateningly before, assuming it's meaning being death of the person.
Vince has then caught a scent, not of Aeon and the workshop. It was one he had smelt once before, earlier that day. He looked at the backpack that had the scent on it, looking around absently to find the source of the scent, if it was near.

Meeting Vapor's gaze, she nodded ever so slightly. Vera made sure to keep as still as possible whilst watching the man and his big, threatening bear Revenant stroll inside. She wanted to hold her breath, but that honestly wasn't a good idea. That gesture the bear had made didn't help make her feel anymore at ease, either.
Soon, she noticed that the bear had eyed her backpack and sniffing around. That wasn't a good sign. All she did was keep still for now, and hoped that she wasn't noticed.

Aeon was looking around for his hammer, realizing it was hanging on the wall right above Vera's hiding spot. He bit his lip walking over towards the forge as Vapor watched the large Revenant, who seemed to be searching for the source of the backpack's scent.
Vapor let out a bark, speaking right after, "You, bear, that bag belonged to one of our customers. They left it here by mistake earlier and we haven't seen them since." His tail had grown still, no longer swaying as it normally did, but it wasn't stiff when he was feeling agitated or aggressive.
