((Ayyy so go ahead and reply however you want, just know her Revenant isn't probably gonna be around and she won't really know what's going on lol))

Larisa was lost, not quite physically, but mentally. Her thoughts were scattered and emotions all jumbled. She didn't know what was really reality anymore. Sure, she'd seen several of the… Things by now, but she still couldn't believe it. Her own 'creature' had approached her and told her simple, rumbled 'words' that made little sense. She was entirely confused, full of uncertainty and icy, creeping fear.

Every time one of those beings came into her vision she felt her breath hitch and pause in her throat. That was the feeling only something real could harbor. Despite only seeing them a select few times, they had confirmed her suspicion and eradicated any doubt she had. This was real. And she hardly even knew what 'this' was.

The daunting creature who had said they were 'paired' mentioned a competition, but gave no details. He only told her to be cautious, and not to die. The heck did that mean!? Why would she be at risk of death? Would these supernatural creatures suddenly decide to kill her?

She was terrified. She felt like she would round one corner of the street, be face to face with some monster, and have that be the last face she sees before it rips through her frail body. She sighed in exasperation, clearly uncomfortable with all of this.

She didn't get it. She didn't at all…

Maybe, she could find someone who was in a similar situation..? She hoped so, this whole thing was… Scary. Especially having to experience it alone… Her 'partner', though he didn't refer to himself as such, was nowhere to be found.

He'd been gone for a few days now, and she'd tried to just ignore the experience she had with him. Unfortunately, that wasn't happening any time soon… After she'd started being able to see those other... Creatures, she hadn't been able to ignore her situation. And now, she was finally doing something about it.

She walked along sidewalks, looking around discreetly for the creatures that had haunted her for the past few days. Right now, it was around 4 o'clock, so she hoped some people would be out and about.

The other people in this 'competition' probably won't recognize her, but... She needed help... Just a little help...
As odd as it was for Aeon to be out and about during the day, he needed groceries, and unlucky for him the nearest grocery store closed at 5:00 and was about fifteen minutes walk away. With a huff Aeon fastened his cloak, threw on his messenger bag and turned to the ginger wolf-like Revenant that was his partner.

"Coming along Vapor? Or are you going to just sit around lazily all day?" Aeon said, clearly about to leave the workshop he had come to call home.

The wolf Revenat ,called Vapor, let out a lazy huff, slowly stretching before padding over to the door. "Yes, I suppose I shall get some air and stretch while you are shopping."

With that the duo left, Aeon being mostly concealed by a dark purple cloak and a matching colored messenger bag. It was his normal attire for being out and about. And given how late in the day it was he was confident that no police officers or the like would question the young boy on whether he should be in school and not walking around town.

Aeon turned down the main road, or one of the main roads anyways. Vapor was casually trailing behind him as they walked towards the store, which was a little more than a block down the road. All they hoped was to not run into another Revenant, or a competitor. To be honest they just wanted some alone time, the past few days had been hectic for them.
Larisa was getting quite desperate in her search, anxiety filling her. She didn't want to be a burden on anyone, but right now her need to understand her situation as greater than that wish. She stopped cold in her tracks for a moment, as her eyes had locked onto some ginger creature. It looked like a fox... Or, more a wolf? It appeared to be both, really.

It didn't look like it would harm her, but she was, again, in the dark on that subject. The creature appeared to be following behind a cloaked figure, one she couldn't quite make out. Huh. She approached, although it appeared they were off on some mission.

She bit her lip, debating heavily with herself on whether to disturb him or not. "Uh... Excuse me..?" She called, though somewhat meekly. She didn't really know what she was going to say.

Would she just outright ask him what the deal was with these creatures? What this competition was? Or maybe she'd just think of some excuse to escape the situation.

Her mind raced, but she awaited the response of the stranger before attempting to say anything else. Her eyes kept darting over to the ginger wolf-fox next to him, unable to contain her confusion or curiosity.

She also really hoped the thing wouldn't straight up attack her for opening her mouth and looking at it...
Aeon stopped in his tracks upon hearing the stranger. Vapor stopped as well, sitting down next to Aeon. Vapor noted the glances that the woman was giving him, he nudged Aeon slightly in case he hadn't picked up on it.

"Uh, yes, do you need something?" He said, taking off the hood that concealed his face. He looked rather young, but still curious what the stranger needed. After Vapor nudged him he started being a tad more cautious around the stranger.

If she saw Vapor then that means he was intentionally showing himself to the public, or she was part of the competition, more than likely the latter of the two.
Larisa was relieved that she wasn't immediately attacked on sight; that was already a good sign. However, having not thought of a plan after the whole not-being-mauled part, she felt words escape her. Crap, what should she say?

Her mind whirled, but she couldn't come up with any excuses. She would have to just outright ask him, even if that meant jeopardizing her anonymity. She took a breath to calm her rapidly beating heart.

"Yeah, I think I... Do... Uh, I just..." She paused, then finally the words came out of her like a flood. The emotions did the same. "I need answers. I'm confused, anxious, and terrified... Where did these creatures come from? What is this.. Competition?" She asked, rapid fire.

The girl was anxious, and her words showed it. She resembled a deer in the headlights; She had no clue on what was coming for her, but had no where to turn because the light was inescapable and blinding. It had gotten to the point where she had to ask a total stranger what was happening, which was in itself a frightening concept. Why her..?
Aeon stood silent for a moment, registering the stranger's outburst. He let out a sigh, glancing at Vapor who decided to trust the stranger. Vapor's tail swayed as he sat there, "I shall answer to the best of my ability, seeing as you are lost and confused. This competition is something that has gone on for... many years now. If I recall 15 contestants are chosen randomly in a random city. Each participant gets paired up with one of us. We are called Revenants, spirits who have not yet felt completed once they died. Plainly, souls stuck in Limbo. These pairs attempt to hunt the others until one pair remains. The pair that remains ends up gaining a wish. Now I'm not sure what the limits, if any, are to this wish. That is all I can answer stranger." Vapor let out a short bark, "And you are quite lucky to have ran into us and not... another pair. As we are more... docile or pacifistic than some of the other pairs. "

Aeon nodded, "So I see your in the contest too then... Uh. I'm Aeon, Aeon Aurora and I'm not really trying to kill anyone, I don't even really need the wish to be honest. I suppose I'm just trying to survive this mess." He extended a hand out of his cloak, offering a handshake to show his honesty. Despite seeming younger Aeon seemed to have taken the news of the contest a lot better than this stranger had.
Larisa glanced between the two with a look of slight desperation, feeling her hopes drop. Maybe they wouldn't help her..? Thankfully, though, the wolf next to the guy began speaking. She tried soaking in all the details, to fully comprehend them and take them to heart. But it was difficult. Just a few days ago, she had been living a normal life... Now this..?

She felt disgusted about this whole thing. Taking dozens of lives just for some wish? No way... As he finished his little explanation, she nodded her appreciation. Though, he then mentioned other pairs who were a bit more violent. She shuddered at the thought.

How could others so quickly embrace this horrifying concept? "Thank you..." She quickly responded, trying to show her appreciation for their assistance in helping her understand. She turned to Aeon as he began speaking, careful not to interrupt.

She quickly nodded at his last statement. "Yeah, I guess I am too? I don't want to kill anyone, especially not for some... Wish. I would much rather have a clean conscious than a bloody wish..." She replied, then shook his hand with a soft grip.

"I'm Larisa; I, uh, don't know where my 'Revenant' is, but he didn't really explain much to me. I have no idea why..." She explained, a bit perturbed. "Yours seems nice, though..." She continued, looking over at Vapor with a smile.
Vapor nodded, "You may call me Vapor, I am Aeon's partner. Oh, I forgot to mention two things, if either the Revenant or the human perish, the pair is out of the contest, and the second is all Revenants are susceptible to silver." Vapor mused for a moment or two before continuing.

"There are a few others that are like-minded, not wanting to actively hunt out others. One is a taller Spanish man by the name of Enri, and the other is a green haired teen called Vera. We have made an alliance of sorts." Aeon gave a sigh, he didn't know whether Vapor should've just announced their alliance to the stranger.

"Yes, I suppose that is true. While I haven't met Enri as of yet, Vapor and Vera confirm that he and his Revenant aren't in any interest of harming us." Aeon added. "I'm not going to force you to make any decisions, but if you want I could see about having you be able to join us." It was just an offer, and to a stranger no less, but at least they were on the grounds of knowing names.

Before Larisa could respond he interjected, "If you aren't sure I'm all up for helping in any way possible, just let me know." Aeon smiled, Vapor still remained rather expressionless, with the only indication being his swaying tail.
Larisa nodded back, acknowledging his name and what he said. So that was the goal of some of these 'pairs'? To kill either the Revenant or the human in an opposing pair? She grimaced. This was all very uncomfortable and foreign, she quite despised it. She was glad for the help from these two, though.

Upon hearing that there were others like the two in front of her, she sighed a little in relief. Thank goodness... It seemed some pairs weren't actively out for blood. She kept the descriptions in mind, though not without noticing Aeon's sigh. Larisa felt a little bad, as she was kind of intruding on whatever they were doing before.

As Aeon confirmed, Larisa was filled with even more relief. This was good... Some light in the dark, as it might be compared to. With Aeon's last question on whether or not she wished to join the said alliance, she was in shock. She wanted to, wholeheartedly, though she wouldn't want to impose...

Larisa was torn, to say the least. Not because she didn't want help, but because she didn't want to be a burden. "That would be... Really nice, actually..." She admitted, finally coming to the conclusion that there was safety in numbers.

"Are you sure it's okay, though..?" She inquired, uncertain. "I can tell my Revenant about it, when I find him, but I don't want to impose or anything... I mean, what if other members aren't okay with it? I wouldn't be much help, after all..." She kept talking, her worries escalating quite abruptly.

Guh, she probably seemed really annoying. She didn't like how uncertain she sounded, it made her seem weak, too...
Aeon pondered this for a moment before giving a quick nod. "It will be fine. Actually if you see either of them, just mention Vapor or I and I'm sure they'll understand. You seemed really lost and well so was I..." Aeon shook his head, having been lost in thought a moment, "And If your ever worried about defending yourself I own a workshop a few blocks away. I may not look like it, but I can make you just about anything that isn't too technological. It would be my pleasure to assist you." Aeon paused, seeming to be messing with something underneath his cloak.

"Its nice to meet you though, I know you still may be confused, but I'm here if you need anything!" With that Aeon pulled out a necklace from his bag, it was a simple one, but it was bizarre to say the least. The chain held a crystal that had a black clover encased in the clear crystal. "Consider it a token of our friendship! If you want to make sure someone knows me just show them that. All the friends I've met have similar, but different necklaces."

Vapor let out a yip of amusement, making it apparent that he was both wolf and fox. "Well since Aeon hasn't met Enri yet I suppose he wouldn't know what that is. Regardless of that, Larisa you are more than welcome to accompany us if you do not feel safe. I don't know where your Revenant is, but I assume they should protect you as I with Aeon. That is just a thought, though." Aeon nodded in agreement. He would be happy to spend time with her if she was worried.
Larisa smiled a little in relief, feeling a weight lift from her. The tone that Aeon spoke with was reassuring and helped relieve her of some previous inhibition. She listened closely to what he said, making sure to note all the details he spoke of.

As he mentioned the workshop, she became curious. Was he a blacksmith of some kind? Diminishing the thought, she nodded in acknowledgment. "I'll... Keep that in mind... I wouldn't ever want to hurt anyone, but self-defense is necessary now, I guess." She reasoned, though she still felt uncomfortable and on edge about having such a weapon. She assumed, from what she had learned, the weapon would be made of silver.

Larisa, upon hearing him say he would help her if she needed anything, quickly thanked him. She was incredibly glad she had encountered these two; she probably would have died without them. Her eyes caught on the strange little object he had, blinking as it was offered to her.

"Oh, what an interesting little trinket..." She observed, carefully taking it from him with an appreciative smile. "Thank you, really; you've been quite kind to me, despite me being a stranger. I can't express my thanks enough," She quickly remarked, feeling immense gratitude toward the two. She looked toward Vapor and giggled at his yip, realizing that he had to have been some combination of wolf and fox.

As she was offered to come with, she debated it in her head. Did she want to intrude on what they were doing? She felt her eyebrows knit in thought, then decided that, for now, going together might be for the better. Her Revenant wasn't here after all, so she would feel much safer in the company of these two.

"I would really appreciate that... At least, until my Revenant comes back," she reasoned, keeping an eye out for him in the meantime. Then again, it'd be really hard to miss him. "I honestly have no idea what happened to him..." she murmured, mostly to herself. She didn't know if she was really concerned, per se, she was just afraid he would abandon her.
"Sure thing, we'd be happy to keep you company until your partner shows up. Vapor and I were just going off to get some supplies and groceries, but we didn't have any plans afterwards besides heading back to my workshop, to which I fully extend an invitation for you to come and see." Aeon said, noting the time, there was still time left to get to the grocer and back to his shop within the hour, so long as the newcomer would be okay with coming back to his workshop afterwards.

Vapor nodded, stretching as the wolf-Revenant slowly rose back up from his seated position. It was clear now that Vapor was larger than a normal wolf, but not by that much, on all fours the top of his ears extended slightly past Larisa's elbows in height. The tips of Vapor's ears along with his tail faded to a dull, silver gray color. His paws were the same silver gray color, but the rest of Vapor's coat was a solid ginger color, making him appear almost as if there was something draining the color out of him. "Try to not fall behind, the grocery store closes at 5 and we would like to be out of there before hand, and maybe get to know each other a bit more, if you are open to telling us about yourself that is." Vapor said, starting to move forward, continuing down the sidewalk of the street.
Larisa smiled a bit more. "Alright," She replied cheerily, feeling the tension she felt before melt away. She felt safe, informed, and generally much better than before. She would have to thank them somehow... She wasn't sure others would have been as kind.

She, however, tried not to think about it as she followed after the two. She noted Vapor's size; he was pretty big, though not as big as her Revenant... Then again, she wasn't sure anything was...

At Vapor's words, she nodded and kept up as best she could. She wouldn't mind hanging out; she had nothing better to do, after all, although that wasn't the only excuse. She now felt a sense of safety around these two. "Getting to know each other might be fun, it'd be a way to pass the time, anyway..." She reasoned, giving a soft smile.

Vapor didn't seem so scary anymore; actually, she didn't even realize she was scared of him until she felt herself finally relax. "Did you want to know anything in specific?" She inquired, giving them both glances.
"Uh... I don't know. I guess what do you do for a living? I'm a craftsman by trade. I actually never got any formal education, I was home schooled. But I could still be in school if I wasn't busy working my shop." Aeon said, following Vapor.

Aeon had a sort of infectious carefree spirit, he was always happy to be of help and meet new people. It was one of his traits that made him friends easily.

Vapor nodded, seemingly leading the way down the road, just in the off case he felt the presence of another Revenant. It was the main thing he kept watch for while with Aeon, like a watch dog. Or watch wolf in this case.
Larisa nodded, seeing that as a reasonable question. "Well, I personally work at my aunt's bakery. I generally stay at the cash register and serve people, but when I'm not doing that I'm helping my aunt bake," She explained, in simple terms.

"I was home schooled, too!" She commented, happy to have something in common with the kid. Larisa herself had a generally warm, kind soul, easily forgetting prejudices when meeting someone new. Her trust extended to most new people she met, so it was easy for her to get hurt; despite this, this is how she was taught, so she's 'stuck in the cycle', as it might be called.

Larisa, too, kept an eye out for Revenant; specifically hers, but she knew not to be too hopeful. He had just disappeared, after all, and if she couldn't find him now why would she find him soon?
"A bakery? That's pretty neat! Maybe I could visit sometime." Aeon said, smiling. "Actually Vapor was a baker in his past life, right? You mentioned it yesterday, that and it was back when you were alive, since he's technically still a person, just soul stuck in limbo and all." Aeon moved glances between the two with a smile as he addressed both of them.

Vapor nodded, "Yes, that would be correct. Before I met my most unfortunate fate I owned a bakery on a coastal town some great distance from here, wonder if it's still standing after all these years..." Vapor mused silently to himself, getting lost trying to remember more, but nothing came to his head.
"Ha, not really... I mean, compared to being a blacksmith, it's nothing..." She replied with a wave of her hand, although she did appear excited when she heard him mentioning Vapor was a baker as well. "Oh, that's really cool!" She replied, smiling at the wolf-fox. Though, she didn't have her own bakery, she was destined to inherit her aunt's. The thought was comforting; it was a future, after all. One she would enjoy. Her smile broadened at the thought.

She wondered what the future would hold, honestly... Then, the notions of her future got a little darker. This competition could completely ruin such a thing for her... She shuddered at the thought, disposing of it quickly. She had friends now-- allies.

Larisa looked at them again, though with a question in mind. "How long have you guys been in this competition? I don't know how long it's been for me. After I started seeing the mon- er, Revenants, I hid away for a while..." She commented, genuinely curious about the dates and such. Would everyone have gotten a Revenant on a certain day? She had no clue.
Vapor looked up to Aeon, who was seeming lost in thought trying to recall. It had been two days ago when he was attacked, then the day before he had met his first ally, and then it had been a week from there since his parents had... Aeon shook his head, shaking the thought off, but still having the answer he needed. "How long... If I remember the events that have led to this I would say around a week and a half. Or something around that time frame."

Vapor nodded, recalling the main events in his own mind. "Yes, and I believe everyone else started receiving their partners around that time as well, but a few may have been late to receive a Revenant." Vapor nodded, seeing the outline of the grocery store in the distance. "We are almost there, once we have what we need, we shall head back to our home which is not too far from here."
Larisa waited patiently while they thought about it; she imagined they weren't really keeping track of the time, which didn't bother her. She hadn't been either, she'd only been hiding and attempting to calm herself down enough to approach someone and ask what was going on. Thankfully, she did, and met these two.

As they began figuring out how long it had been, she took it in with a raised eyebrow. That long, huh..? Wow... She must not have gotten her Revenant at the same time Aeon had, because she didn't think it had been that long. Only a few days, for her. Assuming from what Vapor said, she guessed she was one of the people who didn't receive their Revenant until a little later.

She eyed the grocery store from a distance. She wondered if she should get anything... Did her aunt need something for the bakery? She really had no idea. Larisa would have to ask another time, as right now it wasn't currently something she was concerned with. She was, however, interested in seeing what the smithery Aeon had was like. The girl had never seen one before...
The shopping went off relatively without much conversation, Aeon had gotten some basic foods that anyone would be seen having with them, but there were a few more exotic items that he had bought, with some of them being dragonfruit and starfruit. They were some of Aeon's favorite foods.

Being content with the food he had gotten Aeon paid for it in full, the total hadn't exceeded $100, but it seemed like $200 worth of food. Aeon was resourceful with coupons and buying in bulk. Vapor had kept watch outside the grocery store, as he didn't expect anyone to attack in broad daylight in a public area no doubt.

With a smile they were out of the grocery store before 4:45, record time for Aeon, even with stopping to talk and help Larisa.

"So Larisa, other than baking, do you have any other hobbies?" Aeon asked in an attempt to break the silence that had settled down.
