Forums » Community Guidelines » Rules on Posting Articles

1. Articles must be constructive, deeply thought out essays about aspects of roleplay or how to deal with people in social situations. They are not rants, they are not demands of players, administration or members, they are simply articles detailing aspects of roleplay or community.

2. Articles are expected to be of decent length. There is no specific character requirements or paragraph requirements, but they should be more than a single paragraph or two paragraphs of text. Please see some of the articles available as examples.

3. All articles must be gone over for grammatical and spelling errors as best you are able (your, you're; their, they're, there) and be as clean and precise as you are able to make them within reason.

4. Cite all sources if you use them. Plagiarism isn't cool anywhere, so if you use quotes from someone else or are referencing something else, please note the work at the bottom somehow, or put it in the body of the work.

5. All articles are subject to removal by the administration if they are found to be offensive, objectionable, failing to comply to standards. If removed, the admins will cite why the article was removed. With that in mind, it is suggested that you keep backup copies of all your articles in case of removal, forum/ server crash, or other issues.

When posting articles, keep in mind the subject. Is the article intended to be a guideline on an aspect of rp? Or how to deal with players? Is it geared for a specific setting? Or generic? The primary purpose of this community is to 'horde information', so other players and communities can reference, borrow, and ultimately edit these articles for their specific needs.

Keep in mind, however, this community is hosting the 'original' articles. That is to say, as generically written as possible. When an article is borrowed for a community, that community then edits it within their own forums to fit their setting. When writing articles to host here, do not gear them for a specific community. Broaden the spectrum of the article so it could theoretically incorporate multiple communities, whether they are fantasy, science fiction, modern, etc. An example would be a freeform magic system, or outlines to help organize character races. If an article is geared for a specific setting, make sure it gets posted in that setting, I.e., Medieval or Science Fiction.

When writing articles on social interactions, do not write them as call outs. Otherwise you are defeating the purpose of the article right from the start and 'poisoning the well'. Social articles are intended to help players and administration. They are intended to add cohesion and a sense of respect and camaraderie. Not to tear each other apart.

This is a one strike deal. It is only human to have issues with other people. But that is not dirty laundry that will be allowed to be aired here. If it happens, the offending contributor will be given one warning to rewrite the article. If they refuse, they will be banned from further contributions for a month. During that month, they will have the opportunity to appeal provided the contributor can prove they won't make the same mistake. If it happens again, they will be banned from contributing for life.
