"To protect and serve is more than just a duty, but a way of life. In these times, order and balance is needed more than ever to protect those who cannot protect themselves from the chaos that is embodied in almost every lurking corner of the new world." - Adam Jean Lazare
The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia is the main law enforcement agency across Washington D.C. There is one officer for every 170 citizens, and serves every square mile of the District of Columbia. Being met with recent challenges that have surfaced after the wave, the police department does everything it can to prevent crime and enforce the law, in a seemingly lawless new world. Formed in 1856, it still stands to this day, at the Henry J. Daly Building, located in Ward Six. However, the department serves all eight wards of the district.
The standing Chief of Police is Adam Jean Lazare, who was recently appointed to the position after the prompt retirement of the last Chief. The Department serves ALL types, and ventures into all areas, regardless of typographical affiliation. After being faced again with almost every news outlet slamming the District of Columbia as the new "murder capital" of the nation, beating out Chicago and Detroit in its top spots, the MPD struggles to maintain an image that is respectable and reliable in an era where respectability and reliability has gone completely out of the window and into a scene of chaos. However, the department dutifully carries out its responsibilities to enforce the law and protect those who live in the district.
