Getting Started in Bramford
A Guide

/////Welcome to Bramford! Maybe you're new to the community, or maybe you haven't taken the time to familiarize yourself with the continuity and it was just too overwhelming to know where to start (believe me, we know how much information there is to absorb). Either way, we have created a handy master list to aide you in acquainting yourself with our community. Without further adieu, let's get started!

Step One: Rules and Character Creation

/////Do you have a character ready to play in our continuity? Great! If not, let's take a look at our rules to familiarize yourself with the continuity's guidelines and see if any of your characters are suitable for play here. If you don't think any of your current characters can be adapted to follow these rules, have a look at our character creation guide to get started on making a new one!

If better familiarizing yourself with our universe and lore would be helpful to you, you can start by having a look at our pages outlining everything from a general overview to our original urban legends. Pages that might be helpful are the ones outlining factions, influential figures, and Bramford's districts - or neighborhoods - and their subsequent businesses and locations that can be found there.

Step Two: Community Integration

/////Once your character is ready for play, there's a few ways that you can reach out to the community. First, you can join our discord server to connect with other members.

Additionally, in the Community Information section of our forums you will find threads detailing how to apply for IC work, how to run your own business within Bramford, and a community bulletin board which you can use to post your in-character seekings, events, updates and flyers. We also have a Seeking Roleplay section on our forums specifically to help you find RP for your Bramford characters. A guide on posting your own seeking thread can be found here.

Step Three: Roleplay!

/////Now that you've got your character ready for Bramford, it's time to roleplay. Be sure to peruse the Seeking Roleplay forum; you never know who might be looking to fill a role that your character would suit! Of course you can always message other members directly with your interest as we have a very friendly community, but you can also elect to dive right in by hosting your own open roleplay or by joining one with a prompt you find interesting.

What is an open RP? It's simply a roleplay that's public and open to any member of the community who would like to participate. To host your own, all you need to do is come up with a prompt for the scenario you'd like to RP and start a forum thread! Copy the link to the thread once it's been created and post it in our #roleplay channel on Discord. Make sure to include the prompt and tag @roleplayer! A more detailed guide on starting your own public roleplay can be found here.

Alternatively, you can choose to host your own event or attend one. These are more formal group roleplays than open RPs and typically require a bit of preparation on the part of the host, but serve as a very good way to meet a larger portion of the community. A guide on how to submit your event to our calendar can be found here.

We also have a couple systems of note in place when it comes to roleplay that are meant to assist members of the community in participating in community-wide plots and reward them for their efforts: Mission Statements and our RP Point system. You aren't obligated to utilize these systems if you want to roleplay in Bramford, but if you'd like to get involved, you can read more about them here. Active mission statements will be periodically posted in our Community Information forum and you can browse our RP Point Shop to see what rewards you can earn.

If you find yourself still with questions or a question that wasn't answered in this post, please feel free to message one of our staff members directly.
