Boss
Anthony 'Tony' Salerno
Don Salerno ran the Salerno family since his father was killed in 1920. Under his rule, the family's influence spread to being the primary force in *working*, though recently their influence has been severely diminished after losing a large scale mob war. Shortly after becoming Don, took his long time friend, Frank Meli, as his Consigliere. Frank was his closest friend, and advisor; he knew more about the family than anyone other than Tony. Salerno trusted Frank completely, and always made it apparent. Tony was a ruthless man, always advocating vicious takeover when scorned. However, he was known to be very kind and considerate outside negotiations and family business. In his recent years, he has preferred to leave most of the day to day operation to his Underboss and brother-in-law, Luca Buscetta, especially after falling ill.
Underboss
Luca Buscetta
Luca married Don Salerno's sister shortly after Tony's ascension to Boss of the family. Tony was very close to his sister and almost always followed her advice. She felt it was time to bring new blood into the family after their father's death, and suggested her husband take the position of Underboss. Tony agreed without hesitation. He had known Luca for years as a competent Caporegime for the family, and knew he had the skills necessary for the job. Luca was a quiet person, someone who could get things done. He was never one for flair, but he was cold, calculating, and efficient.
Consigliere
Frank 'The Butcher' Meli
Frank Meli immigrated to the US shortly before the Great War and opened a butcher shop. He had decent success, and was approached by a man named Salerno about protecting his business. Frank showed a ferocity and wit Salerno had never seen. After a long discussion, the two men became friends, and Meli's butcher shop was protected by the Salerno family for no fee. He soon became an associate of the family, a place for them to funnel excess cash. When Anthony was made Don, he immediately asked Frank to be his Consigliere. He knew Frank was excellent with money, and despite being a trade laborer, was also a very smart man.
After the death of his wife, Frank invited his brother's son to learn the butcher trade, and was soon taking care of his young nephew. He purposely kept Vic out of Salerno business, and Anthony understood his reasoning. When Vic finally demanded answers, Frank felt obligated to tell his nephew what was actually happening. He was heartbroken to see his nephew, the closest thing he'd ever had to a son, leave to join the military. In early November, 1943, Frank was approached by a very young man and offered a protection agreement. Frank, realizing the boy was probably from a rival family and very new to the business, told him to get out. The man wouldn't take no for an answer and eventually shot Frank twice in the chest. Frank died on the way to the hospital.
Don Salerno has yet to choose a new Consigliere, as the family took a significant blow in the resulting mob war, losing several family members.
Caporegime
Salvatore 'Sal' Amari
Salvatore Amari was one of Salerno's most steadfast men. His group of soldiers were generally assigned to protecting Salerno rackets and business associates, and did so while remaining largely inconspicuous. Most of Sal's men were older members of the family, usually in their late twenties at least, and were elevated from the regular street thugs of other decina.
Lorenzo 'Enzo' Costa
Lorenzo was a mysterious man, rarely seen by most of the family. It is rumored that his job was to handle soldiers who infiltrated rival families, and to keep tabs on all families in *working* and its surrounding area. Enzo was instrumental in avoiding disaster during the mob war that resulted from Frank Meli's death.
Paul Nicoletti
The newest Capo in the newly restructured Salerno family, Paul Nicoletti is struggling to put together a crew of soldiers to be proud of. His first recruit was the nephew of deceased Consigliere Frank Meli, Victor Meli. Paul was tasked with retaking former territory lost in the recent mob war, and guiding Victor into the business. He is currently recruiting new associates and soldiers to strengthen his decina.
