- The Sacred Prayer of the Covenant -
Worship Xor'Athalos for He is Lord
His Worthy Aspects govern absolutely
May Protection never turn its back
While Prosperity gathers in our homes
May Justice never hunt us down
And Order tame our primal rage
May Knowledge serve our interests well
And Vengeance keep beyond our gates
May Indulgence serve to fill our time
But Anguish never know our names
For The Scarlet Covenant is Forever
And None shall escape it once entered
In sacrifice and blood we are bound

The Covenant Ways
On the surface, the religion promotes hedonism, freedom, the accumulation of knowledge and wealth, and self improvement. The clientele includes, but is not limited to, scholars seeking texts and resources stored at the Temple Library, travelers passing through, potential worshippers directed to the Temple by missionaries, and people curious about it after hearing of the parties or secrets held and kept there. Reasons to visit are diverse, everyone is welcome, and judgment is reserved.
The Scarlet Covenant
The Scarlet Covenant itself is a separate entity from the main religion and is not entered into lightly. The Oath of The Scarlet Covenant ties a Priestess or Disciple to Xor'Athalos and demands sacrifices of worship, blood, and souls in exchange for greater rewards, protection, and the possibility of a new life and body after soul extraction. Life extension that can make them Demigods, perhaps one day a God or Goddess themselves, is on the cards for those who give the greatest sacrifices. Although this is not hidden knowledge and can be found out by rumour or by directly asking a Priestess, Acolyte or Handmaiden, it’s not something all are invited to partake of nor even wish to, and those who attempt it and are found unworthy are at peril of instead becoming a sacrifice themselves. Anyone wishing to take the Oath with Xor'Athalos must spend time serving as an Acolyte or Handmaiden at the Temple.
Nobody can go back on the Covenant. A painful death awaits those who try, they would be swiftly hunted down and their soul harvested most cruelly.
